@RoadkillZaa The only thing that the shabby doll does is give you a specific haunting. If you put the shabby doll in your items chest, at some point in the game, a haunting will appear above the chest. I took the shabby doll and got the escape ending.

Actually, I consider this ending to be worse than the 'Death of Eileen' ending, becuase it implies that Eileen's still possessed by Walter, who's supernatural influence still hovers over the apartment. Henry probably moves due to the unpleasant memories associated with Room 302, so whoever moves in will likely take his place. Long story short: The ritual has merely been delayed/sidetracked in this ending, whereareas in 'The Death of Eileen' it's stopped for good.

Plus, if I were him, I'd spread the word about what happened so no one will be harmed in the future. So, in other words, everything should be okay now (unless some idiots don't believe him and are stupid enough to try and stay there.) :)

The difference is that, in the Escape ending, the apartment is purified of hauntings and possession. In this one, Eileen says she's going back, and we see that the apartments are NOT pure in this (The Mother ending) scene, meaning she is also likely still possessed.

If I had to choose the true ending to Silent Hill 4, this would be it. It shows good guys making it out & it leaves in the creepiness that was Henry's apartment. The only thing I would take out is Eileen talking about going back to South Ashfield Heights, because who wants to go back to that evil place?

In the 1st ending, both survive and the room had been cleansed but they decide to find a new 'place to live' (You kill the possessions along the way). In this one they both survive, but as you can see the apartment is possessed due to not being healed with candles. Crucial point is Eileen says she can go back to the apartment now, ie. move back to the place that is still possessed.
