@highcountrytimber not really, just that anyone demanding my trust/love/obedience/money is probably someone that would treat those things like a toy. if someone's worth giving those things to, then i'll give freely, but if they didn't demand that trust, it's much more likely that they'll treat it, and me, with respect. some may even engage in the classic abusive parent thing, threaten with unimaginable terrors, demand adoration.
Wrangerstar- You should get in touch with Nutnfancy. He has a Youtube channel and I think you guys have very similar videos and would make a great team if you did some videos together. Great video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing this lesson with us, Cody. You can have natural talent and a strong fighting spirit, but the most important of the two is by far the latter. Most people aren't used to someone who doesn't crack under continued assault. When the chips are down, often times it's those whom you least expect (due to perhaps not standing out as much) who rise up to the challenge.
cheers brother - we have similar rules in our home. no blasphemy, no swearing and we don't say any of the following words: can't, idiot, stupid or dumb. if there is any other way to express what is trying to be expressed with one of those words, a different word is used. find a different way to say it, or keep it to yourself. regarding specops and not giving up, completely true.
yeah think how many of hundred of thousands of generations before us had to struggle , thank goodness our ancestors didnt give up either, or none of us would be here today
Cody, I very much enjoyed this one & it was timely. Recently my own dad's health has taken a downward turn & I he has been on my mind everyday. Life lessons are huge & I feel the responsibility now upon my shoulders since I'm a father of two daughters.
I really like your philosophy on things. It is becoming rare to see someone who is actually grounded. I do miss some of your gear reviews. Too many others on the 'Tube sound like they are making commercials.
i math teacher ( former nuclear sub officer) told me that there are only 2 ways you can leave the navy seals qualification coure: injured or by quiting
I'm glad to see this kind of video back on your channel. I missed these "life lesson" fireside vids. This is great advice to anyone raising a family today. My Father taught me the same and now I am passing it on to my own. Never quit! Great video..Thanks again.
God's timing my friend. My wife and I are going through a rough stretch with our little boy in child training. He is so strong willed and defiant. It's tempting at times to just give in, turn on the Tv or something and just be done with the battles but I can't. Your Vid was a timely encouragement. If for no other reason know that you made this vid for me and mine. Thx for time and commitment Cody and Blessings to you.
gave you a thumbs up for the yohan sebastien bach air intro, but for the bible, I would recommend you skeptic's annotated bible and Evilbible web sites. I had read the kings james version as a youth, which woke me up tot he fact the catechism was a lie, then thought the christianity was good in itself. As I read on I only noticed the OT was to be observed. Then one day my mind got straitened and I figured out Jehovah was not creator of all things, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient at all
even worse, my mind become free as to notice the bible was very much filled with heinous material, but when we are afflicted with faith, our mind negates all the evil it contains. And further more, our good values are not from christianity, but from liberal enlightenment of the renaissance. The periods, where the chrisitanity doctrines were prevalent, are called dark ages and mid-evil times...the most barbarous age in mankind's history.
Great words... Its something how we remember the good things our Dad's did or say and not so much the bad, just shows that good will always over power the bad.
I would have to agree. I'm not sure where I got it from, but the phrase "Never give up" has always stuck in my head. A lot of people half-ass things these days, whether it be simple tasks like cleaning our their garage or more important things like dedicating themselves to losing weight. A lot of people will just quit because things get too difficult. I hate quitters.
If I had children, which I don't, and I could only give them a single piece of advice to guide them to a happy fulfilling life it would be what you have just stated. Recently I completed an Ironman triathlon. When I started it was a personal goal and motivation was difficult. Then people started telling me how I was inspiring them to better their lives and I saw them change. After that I knew that I would rather die than fail to complete my goal. I imagine it must feel similar to be a father.
My father raised m to never say never He said trust the lord and and all will be fine. I learned early on that keep trying even when you failing.

I had to laugh at the air part....it is the most important preparation...except for air.
It was just such dry humor.
Besides that great video and you really have started me on what I hope to be my path back to spirituality.
