I'm looking to get runner ducklings and found Metzer Farm. Do you think it's a good place to buy ducks? I want to get Emery Penciled Indian Runners, though. They don't have those. :(
Can runners survive with flying ducks at a park with fountain pond, I had a female Indian runner duck but my parents abanded her at a park with other flying ducks because she was to filthy and pecking my dog, this was about 3-4 years ago and she was about 1 year old, I miss her, what is the chance she is okay
Omg they are so cute! :) i used to have indian runner ducks but stupid fox ate them. just wondering can you train a dog to be a duck dog lol? like herd them into their pens?
yeah well my grandpa is bringing me goose eggs that may or may not be fertile in a few days.... If they are I will have a few baby geese wich are even more fun than ducks!
thats awesome!!!! everyone has different methods in raising ducks. But just so you know, I work at a a zoo and its ok to give your ducks just a few minutes of bath time when they are young. However never give them unlimited access to water. ALso, if you put minows in the water they go crazy and learn to catch fish! Same can be said with crickets. I highly recommend buying crickets and letting them catch and eat them. Its safe and fun to watch! Good luck!
yea. The need to be so when its time their oil glands will function and not get water logged.... But you can only let them swim for 5 minutes.... So they dont freeze
omgg they are so cute. i didnt know about these kind of ducks till last yr when we went to a park and saw them. i feel in love with them ever since. they have their own unique personality. i wish i had one.
How would you know? They ship them right when their born so that they can survive on the nutrients from the egg for up to 70 hours. I also paid extra and had them ship them with grogel formula.... I did everything in my power to make their trip comfortable.... they arent available where I live... Im sorry if you truely think that its inhumane but In my opinion I did the best I could.
@Chicksley This is a normal practice and very safe when you order a minimum number for warmth. Yes, they have a lower survival rate than if you bought them direct from a farm to your house, but it's generally very safe. The places like McMurrey Hatchery wouldn't survive business-wise if all you got were sick/dead ducks.

Why is the bright yellow one so much bigger than the rest? Is he older than the others? In any case, they're adorable. :)

It's cruel if you let them send you the ducklings.
