@akanathan: you got it. The market is desperate for gear with these kinds of specs. The japanese video engineers/developers were wholly indifferent to it and the DSLR movement forced them to finally try and deliver.

They have the means to make this stuff awhile ago, but just wouldn't do it.

What's exciting about this for me is the promise of a "low res" 35mm chip. By low res I mean only 1920x1080 (bayer pattern chip). With the larger photosites of the 35mm chip it should have outstanding dynamic range and low light ability. Beyond any standard 3 chip camera in it's price range by far! Also more than likely beyond any of the DSLRs.

For now I'll have to stick with my EX3

the high price of camcorders it's a problem that majors will have to resolve, cause are too much expensive. Today an hdslr is winning for price.

@filenstyle Yeah if you don't care about recording time. Or sound. Or ergonomics. Or other features related to video work. I love the DSLR video fans, it's the people that don't use them that recommend them to everybody! It's a bit hard to do a steady zoom/pan/follow-focus with a DSLR, and it's impossible right out of the box.

@MrChevypower Zeiss have now made cine lenses for the HDSLR, so it's not a fad only, and the technology will continue

Yes, i understand about vid time available and you can zoom pan etc with aftermarket kit. You should also realize the 35 mm, at leas the good stuff that makes it perform is bigger than many hi end camcorders

Won't be long before they will have a jack for headphones to monitor audio, and the video duration will be longer

WTF is a 35mm camera (when referring to a digital camera)?

I'm sure they are referring to the sensor size as a comparison to a film negative but can you try a little harder to throw your potential customers for a loop while you try to figure out how the hell you are going to make this camera work, both literally and how you are going to make it work in an industry that is passing by you at lightning speed.
