In my experience the main source of "teenage angst" is a lack of relationships for boys at least. It might just be me but there is a lot of pressure in your teenage years to actually have a relationship and lose your virginity before a certain age due to friends doing the same and bragging etc. It can get very frustrating and upsetting to a teenage boy when lot of them cannot and end up coming to the conclusion that all girls find them unattractive, this can lead to depression.
Just saying "it does get better" is somewhat misleading. More like "it will probably get better if you put proper effort into it and have reasonable expectations."
Relationships not being dramatic? How dose that work, then again how in the world dose dating actually work? I'm 24 and well I guess life is making up for the absolute lack of dating till I was 18.
i'm so glad i'm not like most teenage girls. i love a nerdy guy!!!! "cool" guys are fucking idiots!!! and studying/reading/and school learning is awesome!!! also i don't care about the new techno gizmo and i plan to stay innocent until i'm ready and an adult!!
but i still write the really bad poems and songs lol
So true, I was massively awkward. Don't get me wrong, I'm still awkward but not as bad as I was. I noticed the difference in my last temp job I worked with a load of 17 year olds girls and couldn't believe that I girls was ever that awkward around 17 year old girls
I am in my third relationship and so far its going great. Sure its a little long distance (she lives in Russia so what!) but by far this one is WAY FUCKING BETTER then the previous two. First one was a totalfuckingPYSCHOPATHICBITCH and the second one was a pyro. Nuff said.
21, gay, miserable. My entire life up to this point is nothing more than a bucket of emotional shit that weighs me down that I now have to carry with me for the rest of my life. Nothing good that I can recall has ever happened to me. You think it gets better for everyone? Fuck that. For some people it just doesn't get better. Oh sure the constant bullying and daily beatings stop when you leave school, but then you have to carry it with you forever.I find this sweeping generalisation pretentious
@L1MB091 It does get better, you can only go so far down and then it'll turn but the turning to the better takes months if not years. Instead of living in the past live in the now live day by day and trust in your own strength. ^^ It's all about patience.
@L1MB091 Please go to the It Gets Better Project by Dan Savage. This segment was meant to be a lighthearted look at things. That project is in depth and worth your time. Please do check it out.
@L1MB091 No one is going to lie and say that when you get out of school (or come out) magical all that emotional hurt and crap disappears, but slowly you can start to throw more and more of it by the wayside. It is definitely not easy, heck it's one of the things my "shrink" works on me with, as it (along with other crap) only provides fuel for and complicates a much more powerful issue/diagnoses with me.
Is it possible to go through the "teen angst" late in life? When I was a teenager and 16 or 17 I was remotely pretty happy. Now I'm 20 going on 21 and I'm completely miserable and hate life. What would your advice be for people like me who are going through that tough time later in life? It feels like I'm too old to feel this way. The mature side of me feels like this is below my character but at the same time I can't help how I feel. :/
@xxequinegoddessxx I would suggest you talk to your GP about the possibiity that you are suffering from depression and see if you can find some practical help with a psychologist on ways to deal with where you are at emotionally.
@Amoniker72 Well see. There's a problem with that. That requires money. And my family can't afford that. Our insurance doesn't cover that kind of stuff. Sooooo. I'm kinda screwed.
@xxequinegoddessxx If possible I would at least talk to your GP he/she very well could know some free or low cost options in your area to try to get you some help, as not every one they deal with has insurance or insurance that covers such things. But yeah it dose sound like it could possibly be depression peeking it's head out! One big tip don't beat your self up for feeling that way, instead acknowledge it's how you feel, and that it is OK to feel that way.
I'm 17. I've never had a girlfriend. My 'friends' hardly talk to me, and I sit in my room everyday, doing nothing but browsing the internet, listening to music and reading. I'm slightly overweight and a bit socially retarded. All I want is a girlfriend, but I've come to the conclusion, that I'll probably never get one, because I'm foreveralone.jpg. Being a teenager is shit, especially after what I've been through, because I'm now emotionally dead. Wunderbar.
@RVBDeathbot You might want to think about changing some aspects of your behaviour and treating yourself better. And seek outside help with how to do that. Giving up at your age would be a pity.
@Amoniker72 I'm actually already seeking outside help after I realised I was so bad I never wanted to leave the house. It's helping piece by piece, and I'll get there eventually, I just need to figure out where my motivation is.
As a 22 year old who spent the first 20 years of her life wanting to just end it all, I can safely say that IT DOES GET BETTER! But it rarely gets better on its own. You have to work at it and make sure you find something that motivates you to try harder to get what you want.
yeah, at all throughout my teen years girls hated me and then once i started getting friends outside of school i noticed that atleast adult females who are a bit more mature have an interest in me. and even though i dont have a girlfriend, i do understand that everything comes in time :)

Does she have any advice for silly teenagers who get pregnant by a man before they know if they're going to stay with said man.
She can't even stay overnight with him without devolving into a rage fest where she storms out and says he's "never going to see your kid.'
The girl's completely out of touch. She's talking about 'I can't wait to have this baby.'
She thinks her life is going to be exactly the same after as before she got pregnant.

Looking back I feel kinda lucky in that I was in a pretty interesting relationship for the later part of my teens.
Totally self destructive and it messed both parties up beyond belief, but there wasn't much angsty pining over a girl or anything.
