Ellesmere Port is horrible. There has been money spent on the outskirts, at Cheshire Oaks, and that provides a lot of retail jobs, but a lot of the manufacturing jobs have disappeared. Yes, it is an industrial area but much of the industry, like car-making - is done by robots or -like the oil-refineries - never employed all that many people in the first place. There is lots of unemployment and underemployment, there is no ambition and not one decent pub.

Although if you did relocate here, it's highly unlikely that you'd be working at all, seeing as unemployment is running at around30% & rising.

I was born in the port and worked in the port!.
I moved to the USA mostly because Ellesmere port couldn't offer me a stable worthwhile job!.
In fact i would go as far to say they don't reward entrepreneurs.
So if you have a dream and talent and brains then get out of Ellesmere port because it only wants ASDA workers! and yes i worked there too!
