The Waboba is totally disappointing if you ask me. They say that it's so easy, but my 6 year old son can't bounce this, I have to learn how to bounce it myself.
Even though the old version of the waboba ball and the stress ball acted identically - I dont feel my money was wasted. It cost me 50 NOK in a webshop, the same price a normal stressball costs. And I have had ALOT of fun with the waboba ball at the beach in the summers :)
I am the guy in the black jacket across the river, throwing the ball. We had very long discussion at work, and the day this was filmed we had a bet going at work and I tried to defend waboba. So we did a test in the lunch-break. But the balls acted identically :-) It's not so easy to see on this video. So I lost the bet. We did this test mainly for fun. And yes, we did use one of the earliest versions of the waboba ball.
waboba ball is in fact made of the same material as a stress ball, the gel type not the foam type. The material is call TPU - Thermoplastic Polyurethane, waboba has a lycra cover to hold the ball in place and prevent it from deforming too much. The lycra shell also makes it last longer, since the gel like material is prone to breakage/splitting on hard surfaces.
The guy was smart enough to patent it and market it right. Hence people are paying $8 for a ball which actually cost around $2-3
Sigh, why not just try the ball for yourself. I did, thats why I like it. It seems a lot of other people likes it too. And, the test done in this video is not done with the waboba ball actually sold. They are testing a several year old test version of the waboba. They probably didn know, but nevertheless they do.
Waboba balls are in fact not made by the same material as stress balls. Just test in water for yourself, or make a simple test by bouncing a stress ball and a waboba ball on ground and you will know.
Yes they may not be made of the same material as some stress balls, that is why I specifically said waboba is made from TPU material. So the ones you have is probably not the same as the waboba. I wasn't that clean in my comment.
I know for sure because I'm in the sporting goods business, and I have been to factory where waboba balls are made :-)
Don't listen to grommo, try yourself and you'll see he's actually right. Don't take his word for it, prove it to yourself. I bought a stressball for a fraction of the price and compared it to a friend's expensive waboba. Couldn't pick the difference.
Well, I have tried several different stress balls and compared them with waboba. Whatever the diferences in material are - there is a huge difference in how they behave in water. Waboba balls are a lot more fun to play with, they dont crack, they dont sink and they bounce like no other ball. End of discussion.
there is something wrong with your river.... :S

Yes my comments weren't very clear. Not all stress balls are made of the same material as waboba balls! Happy? :-)

What`s the difference between the wboba ball and the waboba extreme ball?
DarkDesert23 3 years ago
They are both the same basically, except the waboba extreme is a different colour design.

@olandsbron the inside of the waboba is the same density as water, therefore it can skip. the outside is the same material as wet suits ;)

In case you didn't realise, this vid shows that an ordinary stressball bounces as well on water as a waboba ball.
