  • Bad at accents, though. Gotta have one flaw I guess.

  • ed norton and tom hanks are the 2 best actors of all time in my opinion

  • What the fuck has happened to Ed man. He's maybe my favourite actor, right up there with Malkovich for me.

He had a few groundbreaking films, then some lowkey ones and hasn't done a decent or big film in quite a while. And quite a few of his recent attempts have tanked, he needs a serious career boost.

  • @WelshDegenerate Maybe he should start directing or producing, he's way too smart and talented to be just an actor. Just my opinion.

  • @leopoldvs He already has directed. And I agree, he should definitely be doing bigger things.

He apparently had a fair deal of creative input on '25th Hour', I watched the interview with him and Spike Lee. He also did on 'Fight Club' and 'American History X' - I believe he always makes his characters smarter...

I think he argued to make Derek Vinyard much more intelligent to make it more realistic and to make the conflict more uncomfortable. He's a smart man.

  • @WelshDegenerate He is indeed very smart...he did a good convincing job playing David Banner too and the "Ultrasonic Cannons" attacking The Hulk were his idea!...so, he's also very creative. THUMBS UP for you :)

  • he is incredible talented

    a such a nice guy

I love him and his art

  • @perfectshot77 i feel like @churchy99's comment is relevant. you're looking at the actor as the character, rather than investing in the character along with the story itself. take primal fear, the simple dynamic between quiet, stuttering, altar boy aaron compared to roy, who's strong and can fend for himself. he can switch between those two characters in the blink of an eye and it's all because of how he uses his voice. he has talent and it's his job to make you believe in the story.

  • ed norton is ma nigga

  • he looks a lot like james cameron

  • Listen to this guy.

    He knows where it's at

  • i like his beard in american history x!

  • Super actor. Underestimated though...

  • PRIMAL FEAR WAS THE BEST MOVIE! LOVE EDWARD NORTON IN ANYTHING!

  • Edward Norton FTW!

  • fight club ftw

  • 6:30 microwave or something, and he is an amazing actor

  • 6:30 microwave or something. and he is an amazing actor!

  • I don't get a lot of people's gripe with him here...

I've seen a lot of his interviews before and didn't agree with any of these negative comments regarding his personality...

So I was expecting him to be out-of-character or an ass here or something. But he was courteous, affable and honest, I don't see people's problem.

People now call anybody who isn't overly falsely humble (cringing) and pathetically apologetic about... Existing, an egomanic lmao.

  • Probably my favourite actor of all-time.

His American History X and Fight Club performances are legendary and so so cultural and generational.

  • i liked Ed Norton Jr. before this interview and now having watched it, I respect him even more and that's saying a lot. Primal Fear, American History X, Red Dragon, and Fight Club, are all classics imo and the list goes on... he's a great actor, he's extremely intelligent, and his did seem quite humble and down to earth... unless he's acting in this interview... lol

  • love him

  • Best part of this interview was that it didn't feel like one, just two guys having a chat... good job George!

  • Anyone else giggle when they put the "Academy award nominated actor" when he was talking about how absurd awards are?

  • "sometimes you gotta have the humility to go: i'd like to do this but i'm not the [right guy for the part]." it says a lot about norton that he believes the role should choose its actor and not vice versa. very humble, insightful guy as this vid shows.

  • I absolutely adore Edward Norton! I've yet to see him in a movie where he didn't absolutely rise to perfection and astound audiences globally

    Love Him xXx

  • American History X is a movie that should be shown in school.

  • @roflDRG in norway it is shown in school

  • the lady was fantastic in the last clip

  • Who's getting interviewed edward or george? George, stop speaking like you're interrogating. There's a fine line between being a good conversationalist and being overly confident. Please know where you stand. Tone it down.

  • dude is a sick actor who the fuck cares about anything else

  • @goodalla1 LOL!!

  • cool questions asked? made me wonder how norton would answer them. great interview.

  • Edward Norton reminds me of Dustin Hoffman.

  • horrible lyrics, horrible grammar...everything about you is horrible, faggot

  • Greatest leading character actor of all time??? This interviewer is a moron. Norton is method, not character you fool.

  • @mjb785 Method and character do not refer to the same thing. Method refers to the way in which one acts, character refers to the type of roles that a person takes. His leading roles have on the whole been stylized and YES, character.

  • wtf is this camera man on?

  • I love edward!! He is so well spoken and is such a true actor, which is quite the rarity these days. Can't get enough of the guy !!! And george asks some decent questions, not like most interviewers who just blab on about nonsense.

  • I like this guy. Not norton (well, him too) but the host of this show.

  • Brando best of his generation, denerio best of his generation and norton best of his generation period.

  • American History X.....brilliant

  • smart guy and I've enjoyed every performance of his.

  • He can play whatever he want's and he will do it great, that's how good he is!!! <3

  • This is TV interviewing gold. The (flat out) greatest actor of our generation interviewed by one of the best young talk show hosts working today. The collective intelligence is huge.

  • george snufalufagus

  • I Hate Progressive.

  • Without question Primal Fear should have won an oscar, Norton was simply brilliant, as he always is. He is consistent like Al Pacino in that sense

  • haha pacino has done some crap stuff and some good stuff too

  • absolutely, I just think he as an actor is consistent

  • he has done some great stuff for sure

  • he is a hard worker, and brillant actor

  • the guy is absolutely brilliant

  • for those people saying he has no charisma- he is just intelligent, and gives insightful answers to the questions put to him(unlike most actors). to me it appears he takes his profession seriously. He's a legend actor! primal fear-should have won an oscar.

  • he was sooooo gr8 in primal fear, it was my first ed norton movie i was amazed, hes the reason i want to be an actor

  • Go for it man! Ed Norton inspired me to be an actor and I am! look up "propel trailer" and "power poison trailer" on youtube to see!

  • Act the shit out of it, man.

  • @snapnorthern Who says he has no charisma? "he is just intelligent, and gives insightful answers to the questions put to him." If that's not a part of a charismatic character then I have misunderstood the meaning of the word.

  • @snapnorthern Yeah, He is very intelligent.

  • @snapnorthern he's also very creepy.

  • very interesting interview!

  • Ya i think hes high too.

  • doesnt mention illusionist in the opening bio

  • geeez he looks a lot older not aging well

  • well he is 40.

  • I Think ED looks High!!

  • Such a good actor.

    Man he is sexy.

  • Edward Norton is a really great actor because he is able to do one thing that is hardest as an actor and most others in his circle don't do - you see him as a character, not Edward Norton playing a character.

  • george is pretty lame sometimes, but why u talkin shit bout ed norton? like are u fukd in the head? who gies a shit about his age and if hes married or not...u shud try watching his movies and then talking.

  • Comment removed

  • He was brilliant in "The Illusionist" which happens to be one of my favorite movies.

  • Norton is amazing, and humble. I have to say that Strombo asks some great questions and I think its a great interview all around.

  • Did Tony Scott direct this interview? Someone tell the cameraman to stay still!

  • i really enjoy ed norton's work - and he seems like such a modest and down to earth guy -- which is nice especially for such a talented actor

    thanks george for the interview

(lol as if he is going to read this :P)

  • Great interview. The camera on Norton is totally distracting, though. It's weird being distracted by camera-work in an interview.

  • Brilliant interview!

    I love Ed so much.

His intelligence makes him sexier than he already is...

    Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Hi Ed, I lke fght club (10years ago) but what do you thin of the intervwiers(Johann Gmbolputy de von Ausfern Schplenden Schliter Crascrenbon Fried Digger Dangle Dungle Burstein von Knacker Thrasher Apple Banger Horowitz Ticolensic Grander Knotty Spelltinkle Grandlich Grumblemeyer Spelterwasser Kürstlich Himbleeisen Bahnwagen Gutenabend Bitte Eine Nürnburger Bratwustle Gerspurten Mit Zweimache Luber Hundsfut Gumberaber Shönendanker Halbsfleisch Mittler Raucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.) question?

  • Does this comment make sense to anyone?

  • nah he's just another fucking sudo intellectual youtuber.

  • "pooisgood123"- first off, don't you mean PSEUDO intellectual youtuber? Second, the comment by "churchy99" DOES in fact make sense because some actors are only seen in the realm of "character acting," as in the DIRECTOR casts the actor to depict a specific character with very specific emotions in a specific part - it lacks substance. Actors like Edward Norton bring much, much more to the table in a sense that a director casts Edward Norton to be Edward Norton, not just the character he depicts.

  • yes thanks for the condesending spell correction, u know what i ment, but u know, assert your superior intelect over my unappreciative drongo, uncultured, blue collared appreciation for art. i'm sure your quite the sophisticated critic, go watch more 'transformers 2' bitch.

  • Calm down. Also, how dare you completely insult my bearings on cinema by bringing a piece of garbage like Transformers 2 into the conversation? You, sir, should be ashamed.

  • One more response (I don't even know why I'm still awake) In your little tirade, you never discredited my initial comment, so that means you didn't disagree...right? So I win...right? Yessssssss.

  • What do you win? A medal?

  • hahaha good for u, u understood my inclusion of the hidious excuse for a movie transformers 2. and i am not ashamed for accusing you of liking transformers 2, i think its quite funny indeed.

  • gah, hes gotten old. Or maybe he just needs to grow back his beard.

  • who gives a shit? hes still the hottest guy on the planet

  • AGREED!!!!!!!!!

  • WHICH WILL ALWAYS B TRU!!!!!!

  • and he can pull off having a beard or being clean shaven, but clean shaven is always sexier...you can see his face that way;)

  • Not really into dudes.. i just think he looks better with a beard haha...

  • I don't even like George 'Unpronouncable Last Name' (probably because I first saw him on MuchMoreMusic), but he manages to get some really interesting guests on this show and asks them decent questions.

  • george...such good questions. We are lucky to have him

  • my neighbor directed the painted veil=)

  • Ed Norton is the best actor since Nicholson...yes, the best of our generation...watch every film he makes...he's the best.

  • he is tip top

  • Edward Norton is a *great* actor, and he comes across wonderfully in these interviews as a thoughtful person who enjoys what he does but isn't full of BS - I think it was great that he got a chance to discuss his art here rather than just sell his current movie...great interview questions.

  • The interviewer, besides from cute, is amazing, flexible. He seems so easy to talk to.

Edward in my mind is one of the greatest actor still alive.

  • Couldn't agree more. :)

  • Love George. Love Ed.

  • amazing actor had me fooled for the whole movie primal fear absolutely amazing

  • I didn't even know he'd made so many movies, I've seen like 3 of the ones named

  • genius

  • Brilliant actor and top of the line interview! I hope George can keep the quality of the interviewes coming to us at this level/caliber for a long, long time. Great interview George!

  • That maybe the reason The Hour's list of guests is staggering. Who he gets in a week must make Charlie Rose crazy.

  • Great interview. :) The last part of the line from The Painted Veil was the most poignant, in my opinion - "I despise myself." "Why?" "For allowing myself to love you once."

  • the best actor ever, they stole his ocsar for primar fear and a.h.x

  • i definitely agree with u

  • I think George Stroumboulopoulos can really hit it off. Some of his interviews are the best, but I've seen him off the track sometimes. See his interview with Al Gore for an example.

And what can I say about Edward. Just awesome.

  • hes just so great its just awesome

  • we need more people like you on tv.. nice questions

  • I agree, I'm a huge George fan. I think the reason he does so well with actors and especially musicians,is he's heavily into the arts himself.

  • wow I think Norton genuinely seemed interested in the interview...u can see his thinking process...i bet they could've talked for hours lol

  • Such an amazing interview, cheers George

  • I wish we had shows like this in the States, and this interviewer seems to make his guests fit right at home. Also, after hearing Norton talk about the absurdity of awards and competition among actors, I can now understand why George C. Scott rejected his oscar for Patton.

  • Now that was an interview..

None of the wishy-washy what is your favourite colour cat cereal business.

Credit to interviewer, but even more credit to interviewee. Fantastic responses.

  • I agree, but the interviewer could have also been slightly offensive. Good interview :)

  • The supreme actor, so smart, talented and passionate!

  • One of my favorite actors of all time.

  • This is the interview that all Edward Norton fans needed to watch. This really gets into the mindset of how Edward perceives his career and the industry. He is not blinded by the glamour and fame, but by the joy of being an actor and enjoying good work from his peers. Edward is definitely a rare find. I respect and love him even more if it is possible.

  • 'for something that's got guts to it' exactly! :)

  • yeah this guy is good. he really gets into the stuff norton wanted to think about.

  • Yeah, the lack of journalist like George Strombo is precisely why Norton most of the time avoids movie press junkets and whatnot.

  • I agree with you. I enjoyed watching this interview a lot more than some others because of the great questions George asked. Some interviewers are just horrible and I cringe when I hear their stupid questions that Edward has to answer...

  • Its because he's Canadian, we're different, kind, and see the world as something we can learn from, not conquer

  • why can't we have shows like this in america?

this guy is a good journo!

  • I don't think my heart and mind can ever truly and perfectly express how tremendously impressed I am with Edward. He's a very gifted, rare and precious human being. Thank you very much for sharing!

  • I can't say it better! he's absolutely the best! :)

  • Let me suscribe your words Amy,you found the right ones, as you ever.Edward is truly an special human being!

  • I have so much respect for this man.

  • I agree. It is refreshing to see a true artist, who doesn't seem to get involved in the commercial aspect of this big money industry.

  • Kewlios

  • What a well thought out response to that last question. "That's the beauty of it." Wonderful. C:
