That's "Falling in Love" with Robert De Niro. The most memorable line in the movie was spoken by his wife, after asking if he's having an affair and getting a negative answer, she realised that "OMG, you've fallen in love with someone else."

- This is the 2nd movie that Meryl played a married woman who fell in love with someone not her husband. [I forgot the plot of the "French Lieutenant's Woman."]

Just watching this on TV, the scene during breakfast on his last day with her was painful to watch.

Ive read the book and Clint Eastwood made a wonderful job of translating it to screen. Its 128 pages and well worth the read. I saw the film first. A beautiful story of two sort of true love.

The musical score written for this movie is simply BEAUTIFUL, SO AS THE MOVIE. Eastwood & Streep gave brilliant performances which brought tear to my eyes. As a professional photographer myself, I do sympathize with the character- Robert Kincaid... although I never had a luck meeting a beautiful married woman in Iowa, hahaha.

What a master piece performed by Meryl. She was surly at her best ! Riveting! The earth shook in one her best performances to date. Clint was also great, and has directed many films , but this is no doubt at the top of performances , and directing. Unbelievably solid! A must see for young, and old adults. Very eye opening for those who choose to make choices in life, learned mistakes, the price, of love at first sight, and the forgiving of yourself to fill the passion within! Outstanding!

Only thing that is sad about the film is the performance of the son and daughter of

Meryl Streep- poor and shallow and no genuine feelings, not believable behavior.

Best film music ever and Clint performs on par with Meryl.

This movie is not about a love story only. It's about the choices we make in life, the quest for happiness that everybody has in this world, the courage to pursue that happiness no matter what, and the power of social conventions over people's lives. That's what makes this movie a great one.

@Prizak1 ...i disagree ...it is very much a love story..it's about a love story that could have been had the timing been different....that is what makes this ache and resonate with so many of us who have 'been there, done that' with some love we'll never truly get over...the ache of both gratitude (for having a taste of what was beautiful and we wanted to continue) alongside the deep sadness of having to let go because it wasn't workable for whatever reasons....but its effects are ever lasting.

I first approached this movie with the attitude of "..oh no, Clint---say it isn't so!!"..but as I grumbled, I watched it and found it to be VERY romantic (the "bathtub scene" sets the bar for steaminess without getting down and dirty)..but one thing I DID notice--when it's a movie with a "chick" romantic angle, we get "Bridges of Madison County" and "The English Patient"..when it's a "guy" romantic angle, it's "The Jagged Edge"..damn, the guys are being done a disservice..!!

Eastwood is a master director. His music is always dead on to the mood of the movie. His movies really reads like a good book. Perhaps a little slow in the beginning but in the end you're blown away.

This story, the book and the movie will become one of those stories that we will come back to time and again. But this music has to be one of the most beautiful and moving pieces I have ever heard in my life. As I listen to it, I am nearly moved to tears. Lennie Niehaus is a pure genius and I will be searching out more of his music.

Marjorie ... You might want to check out "Changeling" also directed by Eastwood. Eastwood composed the music (as he did for Bridges of Madison County) while Lennie Niehaus simply conducts the score. Enjoy !

well..this story is so typical and simple.. a housewife meets a stranger fall in love but she has to stay back etc etc..but the movie was so g r e a t .. both performances made it awesome... it was so clear to see deep inside the characters..so touching..Meryl is..one of the greatest..always her performances touch me deep inside...
