How come whenever I play this the enemy move their ENTIRE ARMY to my right wing. Every fucking time. Does the developer think this is how flanking works?

On vanilla, I find that a Germanian army of 7 x chosen axemen, 2 x night raiders, 2 x spear warband, 1 x screeching women, 2 x chosen archers, 2 x skirmisher warbands, and 4 x barbarian cavalry (or whichever is the cheapest cavalry available to germania) works a treat.

Cost: 10k denarii.

Does putting the AI on hard actually change their tactics? From what I've seen, it gives their units ridiculous stat boosts but nothing more. On very hard in vanilla, an AI Phalanx Pikeman easily crushed my Royal Pikes in a 1v1 flatland showdown. My Royal Pikes were mostly wiped out while they lost less than half of their men.

@evilalmighty there is a button command, which for missile units is default on, and when the enemys troops are too close from the missile units, they fall back. So thats automatic

hey heir i got rome total realism yesterday (it took me ages to figure out putting it on my pc) and its like playing a brand new total war game.

its amazing but i dont like the building system in the game and i would really appreciate it if you made a campaign guide for rome total realism like you did for vanilla rome total war also another question whats your fav realism faction?

And after 8h battle the dusk comes and the fight slowly ends. Then you get the order to fall back. The horns sounds and you get back to your fortificated hill. In the morning you start to bury your many thousand partners into the ground that is still full of blood. And i didn't mentioned the faces the different kind of clothes that might were made by loving women. However i still like this game this is amazing so this isn't a criticism.

@jser1213 Yes... this is the exciting part of the history i think. From the time of the development. I would love to live in that time as a soldier even if only for 30-35 years. Or a Spartan soldier... what sights could we catch with the proud in our heart and strength in our arms to be a professional on the shiny field of a battle in front of thousands of enemy soldiers with thousands of brothers who would die with us or even for us. Nice days of a honorable world.

@Intermedve Im sure once you were actually there had to go through rigorous intense training years on end while being half starved, then when you make it to the point when you actually had to fight and came face to face with a phalanx of enemy soldiers ready to spear you through the face while you slipped over bloody and maimed bodies of your enemies and your brothers, while also trying to avoid catching an arrow...somehow I think your opinion may change?

@thedicklick1 :P I'm not that kind of bookworm who wasn't a soldier and didn't tired out to the hell under the burning sun several times (and sometimes was beaten too). But anyway it was a nice try :). I still think that there was some kind of respectability in those ages that nowadays the soldiers do not get for their hard work. Moreover the people even hate them because they facing with the death for their country.

And the game doesn't shows that the Gauls were much taller than the Romans (except the berserkers). The outnumbered meant that while the Caesar had about 30000 man the Gauls had 150-200000 warriors and this was just an example from Caesar's first battle. Can you imagine 200000 men on the field roaring, crying and laughing crazily with the sound of the swords, shields and armors hitting each other in dust clouds in the air and blood see on the ground?

I think this game/this mod does not needs to simulate the reality mainly because it cannot. For example the Gauls really used a kind of shield wall but (as we can read from Caesar's memorials) these weren't successful because they stood too close to each other. When the pilums punched the Gauls big shields they could not move for a while. And the pilum could kill several men at once in this formation. While the roman lax formation let them to use all their hands. The Gauls had limited right move

RTR is what Rome Vanilla SHOULD have been; 1000 times more historically accurate, awesome unit skins, more balanced gameplay and just so much more enjoyable.

I would die a happy man if the RTR had as many players as vanilla. Why doesn't anyone play it? Still trying to figue that out, maybe they think they will suck without urbans and praetorian cav.

It's almost impossible to find an opponent for RTR 7.I don't even try it anymore. I'm just playing the Macedonian campaign and I enjoy it. The problem of playing campaign is that takes forever to finish it. The map is larger, battles last longer, can't retrain units in new possessioned cities. it's killing me but I love the game.

Only the nobles could afford armour most of the Gauls battled in their everyday clothing.

Some Gauls that wanted to distinguish themselves fougth naked with magic patterns on their body often with self inflicted scars so it would look like the naked soldier was a veteran.

Figthing nude would make the warrior more agile and also give him better stamina than if he had protection.

@HeirofCarthage Just played normal rtw online yesterday insteed of EB, brittannia vs germania. i had 5 archers and 10 berserkers against 15 heavy infantry and 5 horse chariots: heroic victory. So unbalanced didn't even need to do something because the berserkers came in bloodlust and killed everything.

If anybody notices imbalances in a mod or even in the original Rome: Total War game, realize that this is historical. It is ahistorical for every faction to have a fighting chance. Rome had manpower and many reserves. They had a professional army. They had an efficient system. If Rome is more effective in a mod, this is only in respect of the history.

@TotalWarFilms I agree that some imbalance is historical, case and point Parthia. Parthia had completely inferior infantry, but had completely superior cavalry and archers. To see the Praetorian Cav mow down cataphracts online consistently is just plain stupid. Rome's infantry was arguably better than any other nations, but Urban cohorts are complete overkill and not historically accurate. My point is yes imbalance can be historical, but some of the imbalance in RTW isn't very historical.

@jigo121 I think if CA is smart they will avoid moving any further into time past Napoleon. To be honest, seeing what type of games the total war series are really doesn't match well with WWI or WWII. I think there are lots of past theaters of war to visit. I.E. Mongol Total War, Atilla Total War, Alexander Total War, Hannibal Total War, Rome 2 Total War, Caesar Total War, and so on. I think Total war games are best set far in the past with Napoleon being a rare exception.
