Bob wrote this one. He got the idea from an actual crime show that had a narrator who used words like "bird brains" and "ding-a-lings" to describe the criminals.
Crime fighters, take note; the dunderhead's best friends are silence. By screaming loudly and often, and playing the nap card, the guard had torn their plan into two pieces: bad and worse!
They're parodying J.J. Bittenbinder, not Geraldo. If you're not from the Chicago area or didn't watch 1990s daytime television, you probably won't get the reference. But...
Someone may have mentioned it earlier, but on the commentary Paul F. Thompkins got the idea from a guy who does videos like this, dressed like this. One of the memorable quotes was "The two goofs raped the poor gal."
oh my god man, thats about the funniest thing i've ever heard...how did that line ever make it into the show? wow, i need to listen to that commentary again. hahaha
I love Bob. I met him at the Trader Joe's in Silverlake. He told me that this was the dumbest thing ever done on film. I disagree whole heartedly. He knew that it's the shit and was just being funny I hope...
I wish there were an entire show of Bob Odenkirk in those eyebrows and mustache popping up going, "His name is... ME!" Sweet shit this was a funny show.
The character is based on J.J. Bittenbinder, and it's a pretty dead on impersonation of him. I guess the difference is that Bittenbinder really is a highly respected Chicago homicide detective. He's just comes across as kind of a weirdo, and tends to use a hilariously poor choice of words to describe serious crimes, and violent criminals. He did a show called Tough Target.
this show is just so far above most people of average intelligence, that they just think its dumb. if you think its dumb, dont worry, its just you thats dumb.
