Okay I have no problem sidestepping....I have a problem executing a sidestep move for example Xiaoyu's phoenix tail (sidestep + 3) for some reason she doesn't do it she ends up doing cloudkick which is just 3
When you backdash without a cancel, you are left wide open to attacks, such as launchers. The quicker you cancel your backdash, the quicker you can allow yourself to block an attack again. What's more, this allows you to create space between you and your opponent; it forces whiffs as I explained in this video. If anybody plans to play Tekken at a high level, backdash cancel is a technique you have to master.
@Itsallover57 you're stupid then, its to cancel the recovery frame so that you can block if your opponent attacks, otherwise, you'll still be in the recovery frame. Also backdash canceling allows you to backdash faster since you're eliminating the recovery frame
i need some tips, When i try back dash canceling on my stick(sanwa jlf, octagonal gate), I do B, B, then do D/B, but for some reason when I try to repeat it, I just stall, the B during the D/B doesn't seem as if it's buffered. Also, I would sometimes side step, even though I THINK I'm doing DB after the B,B, the input comes out as Down, which makes me side step. Any help? Is it just that I'm probably doing D by accident instead of DB? Thanks
Okay here is my problem while backdashing how are you hitting d/b precisely I play on a stick so it should be easier but it seems werid. I keep hitting d,d/b
i've heard rumors about back dashing. i dont know if this works on thed-pad also but after u back dash, SLIDE ur stick or thumb to db go neutral and press back again ONCE to back dash automatically and slide to db again. i have no idea if it works on dpad tho as i havent tried yet. so the input would be: bb,db,N,b,db,N, and so on. someone please confirm if this works on dpad or if even works at all
@OverKiiiillll actually it does work im here to confirm since ive been practicing with movement than combos and attacks. the only advice i can give you is to go slow. learn the pattern learn how to korea back dash to an attack. so yea it work but you need to get use to the repetition of that input. wish you luck
@roboneko77 ranking up. and fighting your heart out. even though i believe in my opinion the rank system is broken. i preferred the dark resurrection version.
nice vid dude,i needed this tutorial..do you have any tips on how to cancel lee' s hitman stance while you're playing and go into a next move, cuz i've been watching tekken matches on here and seen ppl do it..so if you have any tips or a vid showing it,,plz post it
I just NOTICED something. Look at Lee's kick on exactly on 3:07. That kick didn't make contact with Marduk yet it's registered at a "HIT". It's also labeled as a MIDDLE HIT.
how are you supposed to tell if their attacks are horizontal or if they track as well? it seems like the attacks happen in like a millisecond and its impossible to actually react correctly. would the only solution be to know the other character's movesets?
First of all, great video, I have been looking for these kinds of videos on youtube^^
I know how to perform a sidestep cancel well on pad, but on the stick I have problems doing it. When I try to hit down - back - down ....etc., it becomes more of a backdash than a sidestepping move. Im using a hori fighting stick 3.
@fayemako Its to you to decide many people that i know play in pad and other arcades stick. Dont let people tell that arcade stick is easier but in reality nothing is easy becuase if it was easy everyone will be playing in arcade. its more practice.
so my tip to you is whats your playing style. Arcade stick or pad you be the judge LOL
I truly believe stick or pad is a matter of preference. Recently, KOR beat Korea's Holeman at MLG in Florida. Not only was Holeman from Korea, but he uses a Korean stick, which many (including myself) feel are the best sticks. KOR can also play stick. However, he uses a pad most of the time. He used a ps3 pad at the tournament. I was there, as well :). It really all depends on the individual's effort and practice.
Anyway, I got the notation wrong for BDC, someone noted it.
@byakokoko actually im thankful for describing more in detail about what i was trying to say but thanks bro.if anyone is a tekken player everyone here is family for me because without tekken there wouldnt be some awesome competition and awesome friends. so HOORAH but yea it depends in preference i like arcade stick since it brong old good time memories but i play with pad that way i feel im going with the updated technology ; )
Hey Byakokoko... Thank you for everything yo. Especially the Jin tutorials. I've been using Jin since his debut, and after the T4 Change its nice to have some quality associations related to his new style.
@theosthebest: Indeed. That's also written in a Tekken Zaibatusu tutorial. Btw. backdshing with Paul annoys with sway. It's a bit hard to figure out how to backdash with these sway using chars.
I have trouble performing more than 2 backdash cancels with the pad. I think it's because of fatigue but I don't know, I sidestep really fast so that isn't a problem.
so to guard the incoming horizontal attack while sidestepping, we first have to cancel it then back? or just try to guard?

when you are BDC (back dash cancelling) u dont need 2 input bb after the first backdash the notation goes like this
bb~d/b~b~d/b~b~d/b~b
after u cancel the fist back dash a b is already buffered into ur next b movement
