Does anyone have a rat that needs a home? My family are starting a rat rescue thing, but besides that i am looking for a new family pet. Well if anyone comes across a rat that needs a home old, young, pregnate, baby, fuzzies, pinkies....any kind hairless, hooded, dumbo, anything, please contact me at destinymassey33658@gmail.com and please send photos.. byebye people
do u breed them? and i wanted to breed my rats so they could experience it and have more cute ratties, but im not sure if that would be for the wrong reason :/
@OtakuXxChan You should always breed responsibly to improve the species as a whole. Wanting to experience the miracle of birth or wanting more ratties is not a good reason to breed. When you breed, you should always have a good idea of the rat's health, temperament, etc history, so you provide people with healthy pets. However, a good alternative is to adopt a pregnant girl rat. Then you can give both her and her babies a loving home.
@xXSweetxNightmareXx yea now I see I was just a noob then :P looking through rat forums and joining goosemoose has taught me a lot and I decided that I would be selfish if I did that. I'll just stick with loving my ratties and in the future maybe I can foster a rescue litter ^^
ok guys A the drop is not that far down babies can withstand a drop somwhere round 2 feet thats like 11 inches but i agree the cage to tiny for that many babies
Its not mean.......Honestly Animals arnt like humans yknow....Maybe they dont feel pain like us? or maybe they can control pain?.......Just because it looks nasty dosnt mean it is..
What do you thing would happen if you close the cage door on a rats tail? it would just sit there? no, it would scream from the pain, same if you clipped a dogs ear while its conscious. Where exactly did you learn to think other species of animals don't feel??? The only difference between humans and other species is intel.
@meowkitteh5 Yeah i know but....Well say theres a cat....It jumps off a telegraph pole.....it hits the floor runs away...Alot of people would think the cat was hurt...All im saying is just because it looks like it hurts humans dosnt mean it hurts them as mutch as it does us.
My old rat Jazzmyn did like to lick me. I always knew when she wanted out, she sat on the second floor. Her hood (her head) was silver/grayish. She was so trustworthy, I could let her run in my room freely or play on any bed, box, chair or desk freely.
lol mean how u open the cage and then throw em back in xD cute rats though, i still have a week till the rats i am buying are weened :P making toys for em and rat proofing my room now
lol... those are the cutest monkeys ever. If you ever wanna get rid of them, put them all in a plastic bag, smack them on the counter and freeze them. Then send them to me.
I have had many rats. I kill about 4 rats a week for my snakes. They make a great meal, but those suckers can bite.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if you use that many rats a week and prekill them anyways i suggest buying frozen rats in bulk. less work and money for you and easier to digest for your snakes. i have 2 snakes and im going to be buying in bulk once my guys are done growing
My rat's dont THINK of going outside the cage. Even if there is food or their friends outside they stay in the cage. I dont like it. They are so addicted to the cage.
its ok, im not sure how theyre raised that makes them like that, but its different.
one generation i have, theyll do everything to get out of the cage, and run to our bed and wake us up at night.
the next generation, super gentle. just open the door and they stare at us. you pick them up, and you can do whatever you want. Flip them upside down, use them to scratch your back....so weird.
omg how do you manage to pick them up like that? I have 2 baby dumbo rats and if i let them out the cage like that theres no way i could grab them they are like trying to catch water.
we handled them (with their mother's permission) every day so they were just used to it. If you have rats that are afraid of your hands and being held, start by just sitting your hand in the cage for them to sniff and realize it's a safe thing. then gently hold them, making each time a little longer than the last. In no time they will love being held.
That is a travel cage. I took the babies outside in them, then took individual pictures of them outside of the cage. They lived in a 3.5 foot X 3 foot X 2 foot cage with many levels. There are other videos of that cage on my YouTube account

Humans ARE animals! durrrr
Two kingdoms make up all living things:
Kingdom Animalia (animals)
and Kingdom Plantae (plants)
What do you thing would happen if you close the cage door on a rats tail? it would just sit there? no, it would scream from the pain, same if you clipped a dogs ear while its conscious. Where exactly did you learn to think other species of animals don't feel??? The only difference between humans and other species is intel.
common sense.

I breed my own. I have 7 females that are constantly breeding with one of my 2 males. I produce probably about 50+ a month and I freeze them all.
If you can get a good breeding cycle you can make a ton.
