As with any lunge type movement, the front knee should remain behind the front toes. Many people find split jumps easier on the knee than regular lunges because the flexed lug muscles support more of the weight.

@stephenwt I think he's/she's referring to the rear leg. It looks like the rear leg is barely bending.

As with any lunge type movement, the rear leg should not go deeper than parallel to the ground to prevent strain on the knee.

Thank you for the question. Do you mean how many? Depending on the weight and the number of sets, we usually perform 12-20 on each leg per set.
