What's the difference between switchblade and spring assisted? Just wondering, my boyfriend just bought the last one for me for protection, i'm trying to figure out if I can carry it or not, thanks for any help.
@aliciaRaeN a switchblade is any pocketknife where the blade is released by pushing a button on the handle. a spring assisted has a thumb stud or lever or something like that directly on the blade. You press that part of the blade when the knife is closed to release the blade, then a spring inside the knife flicks the blade open quickly.

Never buy the second one. I had one that broke after the first day I had it. The reason is because when the knife springs out the catch that stops it is only a thin metal bar which will eventually break due to the large amount of pressure caused by the entire force of the spring on the small bar catch. After it breaks the knife blade will flop around and won't fold back in. It is pretty much impossible to fix.
