  • Hey, guys, there's a reason gun designers try to minimize recoil in their weapons:

Recoil makes it hard as fuck to aim.

So why did you deliberately put something that would only make winning harder in a "competitive" gaming peripheral.

  • @toothyp1cks hey toothyp1cks, one of the main reasons for the Falcon in FPS game is in adding to the immersion to games. In a competitive sense, though, you can turn down the recoil so that you can still feel it and it doesn't affect your aim (which I like) or turn it off altogether. I long ago passed the point where I'm better with the Falcon's control scheme than a mouse. For reference, I like the ball grip when I play online against others. thx, tomlucient.

  • I'm really impressed by this. It would go well with a TrackerIR 5.

PC gamers don't know how lucky they are...

  • @Uncompetative yep, I agree. I like the TrackIR stuff.

  • Hey Tom, I just saw the video about the XIO and the self-contained set. Are those things going to come out one after the other or will be released together? I'm very interested in the M4 controller, it's my favourite weapon and I'd love to play with it.

  • @HunGredy Hey HunGredy. When XIO is ready, the plan is to have the software ready to go as well, supporting the integration of a variety of hardware products. Many of the hardware components in the VR simulator video are 3rd party products, and we simply will provide a software framework in which they all work together. Some of the components, such as the M4, are custom pieces and hopefully will be built for an army project, and then hopefully make it to the consumer space ;) thx, tomlucient

  • @tomlucient It's funny that everything goes to the army first, and then to the customers :)

  • @HunGredy yeah, true. The army has bigger budgets in general. XIO itself, though, will make its way to customers even if the Army doesn't bite on any projects ;) We can do a good job of recreating the feel of a weapon haptically (i.e. through the sense of touch with the motors, or in other words, virtually). thx, tomlucient

  • I have a question, will the falcon or the upcoming xio ever be available on consoles, specifically the Xbox? Thanks in advance!

  • @stickfig77 no plans right now for consoles, but I'd love to get on them eventually. thx, tomlucient.

  • Tom, am i assuming correctly that these aren't currently for sale? The store at the Novint website isn't completed yet, so I'm guessing this aren't on the shelves yet =*( When do you think we can expect the Falcon to hit the stores? What about the XIO? And what can we expect them to retail for? Thanks - and grats on your merger with ForceTek!

  • @MrRokaroo Hey MrRokaroo, the store isn't up yet as we just moved our website over to a new format and backend. We should have the store up shortly. The Falcon in general, though, has been for sale for a while, and is generally available. It should be up in about a week, is my best guess at this point (assuming we don't run into any major problems). The retail price is $249, but if you join Falcon Army and get on the boards there I usually will give people a good deal ;) thx, tomlucient.

  • @tomlucient The store is back up ;)

  • I just moved this video over from my old channel ;) feel free to comment or ask questions, and I'll answer ;) thx, tomlucient
