  • 2:35 "Fire allinma guns at once and....explode in your face."

  • WTF is with these weird things?? I never posted ' ' or, ' (very odd!)

  • The vocalist is wank...

  • melhor de todos os tempos

  • mindblowing!

  • is that a swastika on the guitar players t-shirt?

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJimwilson1966 Yes. Therefore they can all go fuck themselves.

  • I love the cult great video

  • Ian Is One Of My Favourite Rock Stars Of All Time!

  • like to see any of you do better? Ian and Billy are Gods. underrated for their talents.

  • is it just be or does Billy Duffy look like Dolph Lundgren?

  • Sounds like Ian does not give all in this song, well it was the worst song on Electric anyway.

  • i hear better performances from local cover bands

  • I like very much The Cult, but is a fact that in EVER live performance, Ian´s voice sounds terrible.

Never sing like in the studios recordings, seems like he can´t breathe correctly or something...

  • @jmmartin096 i have had him in the back of my car and his voice sounded just great there.

  • @EB1050482 They´re coming to Argentina very soon, I will see... ;)

  • "and explode in your face!" good one xD

  • Billy Duffy's a genius!

  • AHAHAHAHA! juker606 tried to post to me, but posted to himself. What a dumbass!

  • is that matt sorum on drums!?

  • @lzvrsam Yes, It is Matt. He's a nice guy. I met him (and all of them) when I photographed them in Seattle, WA. He, Steve Jones, Duff McKagan & John Taylor had a band named "Neurotic Outsiders". A very odd line up, but very good shows.

  • the 60s recycled get a life and something of your own the cult

  • @megaEDWIN3 Ian said he didn't even want to do this song. They did it as kind of a joke. Then, other people liked it so they kept playing it.

The Cult fkn rocks! Always have, always will.

  • Where do I get a drum set like that

  • is that matt sorum behind the drums?

  • @twspietertws For sure, he is!

  • How can I say about this special performance? Ian's voice is incredible!!! I always loved this song....

  • @scabarbara71 what? he's horsed !!! real singers don't get horsed.

  • @juker606 Ya- real singers sure fkn do. Try singing/screaming 200+ nights a year & see if your voice doesn't get a bit "horsed"

  • @WENCHY101 that's no excuse. you belt it out without having to pull it out.

  • @juker606 You must not have been round or known any singers. I did a lot of promo/photo for many bands. Singers voices do go out on occasion. Especially if they smoke a lot & drink. Even being very tired can make a singers voice go out.

  • @WENCHY101 you must be around only local musicians. big time musicians don't live by excuses like small time musicians do. they sing accordingly so they don't get horsed, sound engineering helps too. this guy sings from his gut which is half the problem. you don't really have to scream to make it sound like a scream. it's fact. research it. any vocal coach will tell you metal singers can't use those excuses you mention year after year. some singers never get horse. they know how to maintain.

  • @juker606 I live in Seattle. Are you trying to say that all the famous Seattle bands are not big time musicians? SMFH. If you don't know what you're talking bout- Don't bother...

  • @WENCHY101 just because you live in Seattle doesn't mean you deal with famous bands. famous bands don't have time to be horsed, they have studio time obligations, they don't get a chance to rest their voice, so they have to maintain their voice. if you ever talk to a famous singer who tours, ask them. how do they keep their voice from horsing. they will say by not straining, even if it sounds like they are. this cult singer didn't watch himself.

  • @juker606 Did you not understand what I posted? I know most all of the bands that have come out of Seattle. You're a joke to post something as dumb as this:

"famous bands don't have time to be horsed". ANY singers voice can go out on them here & there.

  • @WENCHY101 not any singer. take your ignorance to a professional vocal coach so they can laugh in your face with your theory, DUDE!

  • @juker606 First off, I'm not a "DUDE". Secondly, your ignorance is really showing. Over 90% of singers do not have vocal coaches. Do you really think that Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Ben McMillan, James Baker, Eddie Vedder, Tommy Niemeyer etc had vocal coaches? You're truly clueless, "DUDE"!

  • @WENCHY101 not all the time. but they do need vocal coaches that are like doctors, and doctors. they're not robots. either way, you don't have to get horsed. ask a death metal singer how they do it on tour. stop guessing and do some research. you're making a fool of yourself.

  • @juker606 LOL! You're just trying to pick a fight with me when you know NOTHING about singing! Even the word "horsed" makes you sound like an idiot. I suggest that you meet, know and hang out with some singers before you make even more of a fool out of yourself. You're just blathering on and on when you know nothing about the music industry, which I've been involved in since the early 90's.

  • @WENCHY101 doesn't mean you know what it means to be a musician, if you are not one. if you ever interview a singer who sings almost every night, ask them about this. they will repeat what i said. unless it's this cult dude who has a punk rock mentality about singing, that's their roots, just scream and yell. musicians still use the word horsed. sheesh. stop trying to act like you know. i think you know i am right. you just want some attention. i think you got an internet crush on me.

  • @juker606 There are many singers I could call and ask. They'd just think you're an idiot, just as I do. Ian has had problems with his voice in the past. I just saw The Cult on 09/21 and, he sounded GREAT. The word is "Hoarse" NOT "Horsed" You're just getting redundant and coming across as more of an idiot each time you post. That's ridiculous to think that I feel that you're right. Attention from you? No thanks. You're just boring me, time for you to move along. You're comments are inane.

  • @WENCHY101 no they would not think i'm an idiot. they would lose some respect for you asking a beginner question like that, if you knew them personally. and yeah, you would know how to spell horsed. lol. you should go learn about what musicians go through and precautions they take to prevent medical problems for playing out full time. not just singers. google it. stop fighting it like your feelings towards me. you know you want it. come here you :/

  • @juker606 Hence why I'd not call Geoff Tate nor any of the rest of the singers that I know to ask them such a stupid question. You really need a Dictionary. "Horsed" is NOT a word. One would say "I feel Hoarse" NOT "I'm Horsed" Your grammar, spelling and punctuation are appalling. Id never get near you. I think you're an idiot, who is now obsessing over me. You can drone on all you want. I don't have time for youtube idiots. Knulla Av~!

  • @juker606 Have fun having "Killer angry sex" with yourself. Vegas SUCKS, I don't like it there. LMAO @ reading Guitar World & Music Connection! That just made you sound like a 14 year old by posting that. I won't reply to a little kid anymore. I had a feeling that you probably were a little kid!

Calling me a "Stupid bitch" now? LOL- You're just angry because you're an idiot...bye, loser!

  • @juker606 Ian Astbury is a great singer, and i am pretty sure that he also had a vocal coach at some stage of his career. He does not sound as good here, but it can happen to any musician somtimes.

  • @alienbishop pretty sure he was drunk.

  • @evanzworld1 Yep he could be :D

  • @alienbishop More like coked. It was the coke that fucked his voice. He has stopped now.

  • @Easyandy100 Coked or drunk, you can tell that he is not at his best here but aniway, whole thing sounds great :)

  • @alienbishop I remember this well. Absolutely brilliant band at the time but kind of went off the boil later on.

  • @WENCHY101 Most of the famous singers have Vocal coaches at some stage of their career, I remember reading somewhere, that before recording second AIC album, record company haired vocal coach for Layne Staley, at that time Ann Wilson from Heart was also having lessons with the same coach, and that's were they get to know eachother, and Ann iven sang some back vocals on AIC album. Offcource Ann Wilson and Layne Staley were great singers iven before they vent to a coach. sorryfor myenglish:)

  • @alienbishop Gawd, not this fkn convo AGAIN.... Ian (I feel) sounded the BEST on their 'LOVE" LP... No vocal coach on that LP... SMFH, let it go... Unless you have PROOF that he's had a vocal coach, go away!

As far as Layne goes, I knew him & the rest of the band + ALL of the Seattle "Grunge" bands (All of us & the bands HATED that word!)

  • hitler ? fukn weirdo

  • @cleverelf Dumbass........

  • astbury is so smashed

  • I always liked The Cult! I remeber when Cerimony came out and everybody was speakink evil about it and I just couldn'd understand why, 'cos if it was not their best album (Electric is), it's better than 90% of the stuff we have to hear from many "rock" bands.

  • I was at this show..the cult walked past us in the green room before the show..i had this on vhs taped from C4 but lost it. You can hear me at the start of the show heckling Jonathan !

  • absolute on your knees.... living room smashed up....

  • I liked these guys alot, I always thought they were one of the few good eighties bands. I honestly liked the 70's more, but you know this was good. Most of the eighties sucked though lol ther was some good though. Like Guns N roses and Black Crowes. And no AC/DC was a 70's band and so was Van Halen Van Halen came out in 79.

  • you are almost right, van halen was formed in '72 but their first album self titled came out in '78. not trying to be a jerk, i'm just saying

  • @canadianidots444 you speak the truth. VH hit the airwaves '78. When Jamie's Cryin played, I was 'struck'. Nothing like that song.

  • I can't believe it's 20 years ago, seems like yesterday, I saw them open for guns and roses at the warfield.

  • @annareal1 Too funny. G'n'R used to open for The Cult :)

  • Rock and roll in its purest, most elemental form. My god, I miss The Cult of 20 years ago. Epic.

  • thats ten years of hair

  • not bad

  • I love his hair.

  • damn you rick rubin. damn you to to hell.

  • Rick Rubin didnt produce Sonic Temple...Bob Rock did. Sonic Temple is their best album anyway.

  • the guitarist is Billy Duffy?

  • Yeah thats Duffy on the ax.

  • I agree mate he's shite ....bring back Les Warner

  • matt sorum was with the cult b 4 guns n roses .

  • Swastika on the guitarist.

  • al prze

  • yeah, Sorum is the reason the band dropped in popularity.

not dissing The Cult, because i love em, but do you know how many fucking drummers they went through? theyre lucky to have gotten a moderate mainstay in Sorum! besides, he didnt record until Beyond Good And Evil.

    great show.

  • Someone forgot to tell Matt Sorum that they're not playing "Shotgun Blues."

  • "Someone forgot to tell Matt Sorum that they're not playing "Shotgun Blues." - andy

LOL!!!! xD!!!! Thats some sad assed drumming sh&%... : (

  • awesome song awesome group awesome performing

  • great performance by cult

  • Matt Sorum...fu%$ !! that dude`s a rock n roll undertaker. Joined The Cult, fu&%ed up their sound. The he joins GnR, kills `em. Velvet Revolver

  • he's just a drummer, the cult, gnr, & sorry ass velvet revolver were fucked up before he got there. he was just trying to get p-a-i-d paid. he probably didn't have much input into band activities as the new guy. you don't know what you're talking about my friend.

  • "he's just a drummer, the cult, gnr, & sorry ass velvet revolver were fucked up before he got there" - awa

Yeah, but I mean they guy`s

    technique.... : (

  • I agree, I wish he would lay off the snare a little bit.

I think my favorite Cult drummer was the drummer on Electric.

  • the rock world isn't what you think. he's just a basic pocket drummer who shows up and keeps his mouth shut, does what he's told and collects a pay check rather than work at the 7-11 or burger king. he could do crazy shit probably if he really wanted to but he's not allowed. the leaders of a successful rock band are usually almost like dictators. GNR was making more $ than the cult at the time so he jumped ship. people go nuts on the road and keeping sane means a lot, if that makes any sense.

  • "the rock world isn't what you think. he's just a basic pocket drummer who shows up and keeps his mouth shut, does what he's told and collects a pay check " - awal

Yeah, good point. But we´re jus shootin the sh&% here man. (puff, puff) Pass it down duuuuude... : D

  • Ian non era niente male!! ;-)

  • Matt Sorum...fu%$ !! that dude`s a rock n roll undertaker. Joined The Cult, fu&%ed up their sound. The he joins GnR, kills `em. Velvet Revolver...

  • H'es the drumming Yoko!

  • Fuck you

  • otimo

  • Boring fact pop pickers,I sold Mr Astbury that shirt - £20 I seem to remember

  • I was in the audience that night. Got free tickets from the TV studio. Yeah, its a Frisco Choppers shirt. The shop's now called California Choppers and is run by some SF Hells Angels.

  • F8ck me that is good sh*t........

  • Swastika is a cross symbol representing eternity. Many rockers/bikers back in the sixsties wore swastika. So Frisco Chopper's used that symbol.

  • The origin of bikers wearing the swastika is from post-WWII, when a lot of clubs formed with vets. They wore captured stuff on their colors, just as we do today. It evolved into shock value, then into specific meanings, depending on the club. But yes, the swastika has been found from Scandanavia to China for thousands of years.

  • Billy Duffy's t-shirt is a Frisco Chopper's, "best in the west" shirt, they're out of San Francisco. He has also been seen wearing a Frisco Chopper's shirt in 2006/2008 while on tour. I believe they built him a bike, which can be seen in the "music without fear" dvd. I don't think he mean's anything with the swastika!!! He's just a kick ass guitarist who rides kick ass bikes!!!

  • Oh wow they used to do this as an encore in live shows, brings back some memories!

BTW the swastika can also be traced back to the Vikings as well as India, Hitler just used it and made it a 'bad' symbol.

  • Yeah pretty sure it was on electric too.

  • the swastika sign is from india

  • @SilverGreen40 i doubt that billy duffy is wearing it to be a hindu.

  • I doubt it either!

It was just a factual side comment before we got into the rule about 'how long until someone compares Billy to Hitler'

  • @SilverGreen40 yeah, i know, i agree too. that nazi/biker chic was all the rage for them in the electric era and i have to admit, it worked for them. i cant ascribe any sort of politics to their usage, it was all in the name of cultivated rocker image. im not the hypersensitive type in this sort of regard. to me there is a difference in actions, philosophies and aesthetics.

  • @rosycross yeh man, if u read the inside sleeve in the eletric album, it goes into the whole "biker image" that they liked during that album (eventho this is shot during sonic temple) but it was also very up duffys alley to cause contraversy expecially whilst playing a show like this one. i rekon he wore the shirt just to jerk off society in his own little way.

  • the cult matt sorum y guns n`roses

  • like the swastica on the guitarist's shirt..nice touch

  • Wish I had hair like that LOL..

  • @dergrossen than let it grow!

  • ressurection joe

  • what is name this song?

  • Born to Wild orginally recorded by Steppenwolfe

  • Billy's hot in every way and still is. Great guitar.

  • he once played in a band with morrissey. therefore he is cool in my book. plus he's a man city fan.

  • Duffy is still mates with Moz. I saw them together in LA five or so years ago.

  • Ian is 3 times the man that Jim Morrisson was.

  • True!

  • is all you do go to slag people on youtube?..twat

  • he's a talkshow host in the UK. just like talkshow hosts in the U.S. he's pretty lame, and not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.

  • Funny to see a performance where the band is giving it their all, just rockin it out, and the audience is sitting there like it's a school play. What a waste. And who the *&$# is Jonathon Ross?!

  • hammergeil

  • Nazis didn't ruin everything, zionism does. The swastika is not a symbol to be feared, no matter what certain hooknose organisations (which measure their dead in cold euros) tell you.

  • You're absolutely right, man. Jews rule the world..

  • Since when does Billy play a Les Paul? Also 1989 - that was the year Sonic Temple was released, am I right?

  • '89 was Sonic Temple, yes.

  • The cult is not a nzi band Ian is very much part indian, For your guys information my dad was a Deadhead/Biker in the 70s They had shirts with swastikas and Hitler all the time but They didnt do it for Nazi reasons they did it too piss people off, And it seemed to have worked. Check out some pics of Ian on his bike on the net Hes got a real Nice shovelhead.

  • Great stuff! Probably good to remember that the swastika is an ancient symbol with positive meaning. These fucked up evildoers like Hitler love to take ancient positive symbols and pervert them.

  • The swastika was originally an Indian thing, wasn't it?

Yeah, nazis ruined everything. We never call 'em "Chaplin Mustaches." Off subject, sorry.

  • ians voice is fucked up here - otherwise he's the worlds greatest rock-vocalist, if you ask me...

  • I agree. I mean, why else would the Doors have invited him to be their reunion vocalist?

  • Looks like there having a good time

  • the audio is lacking here. but still fun to listen to

  • Check out "Born to be Wild Maestro"

  • Long hair, rocking song I LOVE HIM!!!

  • 1. The t-shirt is a biker t-shirt not a nazi one

    2. Billy Duffy (the guitarist) has Jewish roots.

    3. Get a life.

  • INDEED Lcacique!!

    THANXXX for some understanding souls!!

You guy's keep the past alive, RESPECT!!! We can only do the same!!! CIAO BABY

  • Hum, let's see...The Cult have played shows in support of Tibet, they sing songs about the plight of Native Americans, are you idiots really questioning whether they are associated with skinheads? Get a clue! Do you know anything about the band? As gravemaurice correctly stated, it's a chopper t-shirt.

  • Er, ever tried the pause button on this thing - the shirt quite clearly says "Frisco Choppers, Best West, San Franciso".

"UK skinheads" - do you work for The Sun or something.

  • Just like the last poster, i was wondering what's up w/B.Duffy's swastika shirt. I'm sure its not a pro nazi thing, but can't get a close look at it here... They were fond of the iron cross however, and sex pistols fans (who wore swastikas for shock value). hmmm... nah...

  • Don't worry, he's part Jewish. It's a shock value thing. Besides, the swastika was originally an Indian thing.

  • I was at the met. museum of art in nyc, and there was some old Hindu scullptures with swastikas. I realize that, this being the Cult, you're referring to Native Americans, and I'm also familiar with that connotation... but I wonder what the specific message of shirt is. I can see it has some other writing or symbols on it.

  • Another historical side note, it was also the Bhuddist symbol for peace

  • The Swastika was also used in the Eastern European pagan religions. That was one of the sun symbols. The other sun symbols are the triskele, schwarze sonne, celtic cross, sun cross, triskelion, swarog....

  • You can´t wear a "Swastika" on a t-shirt and be all cavallier about it...Don´t care WTF it means in India, in the West its B.S.

  • very true. some rock&rollers just never grow up - and when you've got sh*t loads of money, you're not a rebel anymore and have to fall back on the cheapest of provocation.

  • why does billy duffy have a swastika on his shirt, I thought the cult was not affiliated with the U.K skinheads, they should of done something with ian stuart

  • awesome band :-)

  • I saw The Cult live in Birmingham in England about two days before this was broadcast LIVE between 9 and 10pm on Channel 4 and I've been looking for it for years! It's superb!

    CFFC

  • Performed in the true spirit of the orginal!

    Vi va la ROCK!!!!

  • back when rock n roll was still appreciated for its greatness

  • "and the singer sucks " come back when you have a clue you cunt!

  • Listen young one anything IAN ASTBURY sings is fu--ing great.Come back when you grow up.

  • you r a complete cocksucker. steppenwolf original have no power. Ian Astbury´s voice is the VOICE and Billy Duffy´s guitar playing it´s simply unbeatable.

Go and listen cult´s discography bastard!

  • steppenwolf original got no power ??? you must be some kinda fag ya dickless

  • Well, ive gotta hand it to steppenwolf for writing it. But the Cult version is so much better.

  • I wish my voice sounded like Ian's. Though he sounds a lot better on the records than here.

  • the drummer's great

  • Damn!!! The Cult rocks hard on this one. CFFC
