@anonymootle in all my travels in the bush i have seen how many carnivorous plants live naturally. the vast majority don't grow in dry or even damp soil. bogs, wetlands, and seeps form the typical habitat of these plants. when you walk on the moss, water comes up to your ankles. i have seen pitcher plants at the edge of ponds completely submerged during the winter and when the water levels drop in the summer, they gleefully grow and kill bugs!
@PhazonSwimmy they would actually do better like that as they would be down out of the drying winter winds. however, i did stand them upright before the pond iced over... next video
@PhazonSwimmy yes, and mine will undoubtedly be doing just that when the frogs and toads are introduced and spawn. i'm curious as to if they'll eat tiny trout as well. i'll be making a venus flytrap island and am expecting them to eat young emerging amphibians. next summer will be the season of carnage in my neighborhood... haha

did you put venus fly traps in there? could a dionaea survive being frozen in water like such over winter?
