Yeah, I think the masses of people throughout history have always been largely unaware of how mainstream media and the rulers of society are inextricably linked. Russia is obviously no exception. Now I'm no expert on current Russian society, but i would think that their media including RT is owned by giant conglomerates similar to the ownership of mainstream media in the US. Every ruling class needs a structure at their disposal to disseminate their lies.

Most of the US news they report on is obviously true, including the more radical and progressive issues that they talk about. But I think we have to understand that the Russian ruling class are doing this for their own economic interests.
