  • can we get some more awesome vids like this

  • Will the Xbox still use the save data on the internal flash memory? Because I didn't have an original 360 but I want more memory. So basically will the 360 format it?

  • Will I get banned for this

  • thanks it worked i did it to my xbox

  • you can buy HDD cases for the slim. i think llamma . com sells them, last time i checked.

(this is not spam, just trying to be helpful :D)

  • not a hack more of a mod

  • Thanks! Was trying to get Battlefield 3 HD content but it doesn't work on the 4gb xbox, took apart my original white xbox hdd (which didn't say what size it was) and now It works and it said I had 13gb free... Weird. Thought I had a 20gb hdd. Oh well, it works!

  • I have a 250 gb Laptop drive, will that work. I bout the 4gb system to use for kinect exercising, so I know NOTHING about the xbox.

  • lol i got a 4GB the week they came out.. this is the first thing i did.. microsoft are a bunch of scammers.. "only the new hard drives fit in the new slim xbox" HA what a joke

  • It saves you a hole lot of money

  • wat happens if you dont put a shock absorber

  • Could you take it back out?

  • @CH31se4fc E68: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it, This can also be caused by a Hard Drive Eprom Error. Some also believe this might be caused by a problem with the fans.

  • wow as easy as that

  • pulling out what little hair i have, anyone got any ideas on this E68 error, is the HDD dead ??

  • @CH31se4fc i have posted a answer on original page

  • of any gb work?

  • Nvm i figured it out. Thanks much man i'm in your debt!

Literally u saved me alot of money!

  • @TheMuncyWolverine i need ur help man, im gna buy a xbox 360 slim and hack it to 250 gb will i have any prbs playing Bf3 if i do dis ? pls. let me knw ?

  • @metaljam101 Nope works just fine if you have the hacked harddrive in there. Make sure you've got some stuffing in there keeping it in tight though. Otherwise the connection won't be reliable. BF3 high def should install fine with the harddrive.

If that makes any sense lol.

  • Hi i can't seem to get this to work,

I did everything you said and have the harddrive in, but when i try to download the high def thing for BF3 (which is why i did it) it still says i only have my 4gig memory unit.

    Thoughts?

  • @TheMuncyWolverine does it show the hard drive installed on the menu?.........

  • that uses a SATA cable so you could just buy a regular computer hard drive and a SATA cable n hook that shit up :)

  • or get a transfer cable :)

  • muy bueno jajaja

  • works with the new ones too? ..not that it matters by the time you get back to me i'll have done it already

  • Is there supposed to be audio?

  • Works :) i done it with an old 20gig hdd.. From ireland

  • tried again from start to finish, the hard drive goes in straight, but as soon as i get it to click into place it drops in okay but after click it flops down even though its secure, is this normal??

  • Great job

  • Just to let people know this works with 20gb 60 and 80gb old drives i just done this to my 4gb slim with a old 20gb HDD works really well

  • does this really work?????

  • Comment removed

  • i love xbob's.. i really do. *read your description bro*

  • mines not working and i did everything the same?

any solutions mines just not appearing on the menu

    please Write back

  • Great tutorial with step by step.. Thanks.

  • instead of using the foam/cardboard/mousemat idea, you could just buy a harddrive case off eBay - it makes the 2.5" HDD that you are fitting here into the correct size for the new slim 360's.My mate bought one and it works perfectly...no more dodgy looking foam in your xbox ;)

  • thats pimp shit bro good video thanks

  • fuck torx. hands and pliers.... like a boss.

  • that's it? just take the hard drive out and you're able to plug it right in? no mods, or extra pieces required? wtf. genius!!!

  • Do I need a hdd case for my 4gb? Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks helpful

  • I got the exact screwdriver set. Radio Shack, right?

  • @JeffroTV Yep :-)

  • @tuvix72 ME 2 HIGH FIVE!

  • thanks now i know how to upgrade my memory if i get the 4gb xbox i,ll probably ask my dad to do it since i showed him this video when u put the hard drive in the xbox 360 u put a blue thing on top wht is it and is it really important???

  • @emanuel2442 It's isn't critical, but you'll notice the drive is rather loose and if you plan to bring your XBox around to friends houses or from room to room I would suggest you use something to cussion the drive. I used an old mousepad but you can use a sponge, cardboard or anything similar...

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

  • i plan on getting the 4mb version of the xbox, and bf3.will this b enough to play the game and get that hd texture pack that im hoping is free, that im saying should be free and just naturally part of the game?help me ut here.dont wanna but a ps3,hope i can stay xbox

  • i did this and i start up my xbox go to storage and it shows its not there

  • y u need a foam pad

  • @chicken5899 to keep it still and to absorb the shock

  • @satinsguard thanks

  • my don u saved man pss

  • thanks heaps man just saved me some dollars works straight up that easy

  • Will you get banned from live? plz reply

  • @KuJayhawkForLife i mean i got a 20 gb one for christmas for an old xbox360 , but i got a slim and it doesnt go in. and i see people asking about getting banned from live.

  • works perfectly thanks alot!

  • @R3DMAU5 you don't, you could cut up a mouse pad or use a piece of foam to use as a shock absorber for the HDD

  • Works great thx

  • Great video...just finished mine and it works great.

  • what type of screew driver do you need any one ?

  • @janty1001 The outer casing is a T-5 Torx and the inner is a T-6 but I used a small flat head eye glass repair screwdirver and it worked fine.

  • I put my old 120gb harddrive into the new Slim and it won't recognize the harddrive.. help, what do I do?

  • Why do u need the mouse pad?

  • also, is this a good method for using the old xbox's information on the new xbox? how will the xbox handle the conflicting dashboards trying to run?

  • @rodneywon

The dashboard is not run from the hard drive.

How do you think the old "Arcade" consoles ran with no hard drive?

  • so will the drive enclosure take up the loose space and replace the foam part?

  • same question as MohawkMasters... does it work with a 20 gigger?

  • Does 20 gb old xbox 360 hardrive will work if you those procedures?

  • Does it work?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for a fantastic "how-to" video...pure focus, clear handling...and silence is a wonderful thing!

  • can i remove it without those specific screwdrivers ?

  • @kphoenix96 You must have T5 and T6 screw drivers to remote the HDD from the xbox 360 fat casing.

  • Can u transfer save files 2 the hard drive?

  • Sick im hyped on this! I have a ps3 that doesnt work anymore but the hard drive is fine...I am recieving my xbox pretty soon and was wondering if my ps3 20gb hdd would work? I read you need a specific firmware but still just wondering...

  • Xbob? lol

  • Comment removed

  • is this elegal cuz it just seems wierd o and respond back

    .

  • calling this a hack?? hahahaaa

  • are you sure the sellotape and foam doesnt cause any internal problems e.g overheating or the stickytape melting? i just want to be sure haha :)

  • It looks like the regular 2.5 inch HDD, I used a 500gb SATA laptop HDD in my PS3 and it looks the same :) when I run out of space on the 250gb HDD, hello new 500gb/1TB HDD :P

  • will it ban me?

  • @HaloReachJ12 ive done this 4 monthes ago and im not ban from XBOX LIVE... So no man

  • can it cause a ban in live ?

  • Thanks man! Gunna try this out! Definitely would save me the extra 75 bucks!

  • couldnt excess

    VVVVVVV

  • i did this and it didnt work i could excess the "new" hdd all i saw was the 4gb mu in my dashboard please help

  • does that even work for i can do that

  • FUCK....FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK i sold my old one to buy the 4 gb...and gave him my old memmory for free

    ....damn!

  • @treyabolicum lol

  • that tape idea was fucking genius. ima use that one :)

  • Have to admit that the shock asorber you made was really smart, im gonna have to do that.

  • what really sucks is that they changed the hardrives for no apperant reason and made them worse they have less space and are shaped differant so u cant take your old hradrive out of your xbox360 and put it in your new one no that would be to easy and it wouldnt cost any money so u have to go out and pat for some kind of fucking memory unit then recover ur account then spend hours downloading everything from ur history thats why i havent bought a slim i still have my elite

  • @TheMohguy or when u upgrade to the new xbox that should come with the new hard drive u use the handy dandy transfer cable

  • why dont you just open the Case from the slim hard drive and put the fat hard drive in that case and then put it in??? It would be way eaiser lol instead of putting other crap around itto hold it in place

  • thanks man!

  • i wouldnt really call that a hack

  • why didnt they do this with the first xbox? its obviously the same hdd with a bunch of plastic around it...

  • i got and old hdd from a friend and i wanted to format it when it asks for the serial does it have to be from his xbox or mine ?

  • Just a quick tip for anyone who wants a more reliable version of the final step: You can get Xbox 360 slim HDD enclosures for ~$6-$7 on Amazon. Much more reliable than just sticking a bit of mousepad into the HDD slot.

  • @XxLetterbombsXx Yes, as long as it is from another XBOX (any generation)

  • Thanks for putting out a comprehensive video on this topic. So many others are sloppy.

  • Can I use an third party HDD to do this?(Without getting banned from LIVE)

  • @ptenoury I've been told Yes, but I have not tried it. Apparently you need a specific drive and need to load specific firmware on it. Might be easier to pick up a used XBOX 360 "fat" hard drive and perform the mod in this video...

  • @tuvix72 and if I use a computer hard drive, could work? because i think is the same, thanks......

  • @tuvix72 Will the drive enclosure fit this old HDD?

  • @ptenoury what is and thid party?

  • so if i save my stuff on the hard drive, put in the slim xbox, it should be there? like all my games would be there and my profile?

  • @messihenry1410 I've had mixed success on this, my profiles came over but some say I cannot use them... the game saves worked however.

  • Have you experienced any weird tearing with games while you're playing? I have Forza 4 installed on my 250 gb harddrive and ever since I had to upgrade to the slim Xbox its been putting these vertical lines randomly throughout my screen on occasion, then it goes away. It looks like a long line of dead pixels or something. Never did this before with my old xbox, I can't figure out what's going on. Loose connection? Issue with reading from harddrive?

  • @gbales84 I think it's your TV. I had the same problem and I don't think it's your console or HDD. Check if you have warranty because the TV is going to get worse.

  • @gbales84 It does not sound like anything related to the drive, however you can easily pull it out and try it. Is it doing the same with other games?

  • @tuvix72 turns out the xbox was defective right out of the box. Replaced it with another slim xbox a week later and its been doing fine since.

  • @tuvix72 Hey do i have to use the shock thing bro?

  • @gbales84 best solotion is to unplug your xbox slim open the window close the window take it out side show it the hight of the drop get it to work out the speed it could travel in the time from the wondow to the floor because it an xbox slim it can't do that so while it trying to work it out pick it up and throw it out the window if you hear it say ouch go smash the shit out of it with a hammer an dthen drop you pants and piss on it

  • @bearwolfable lmao

  • ...btw I used cardboard as a "shock absorber" ...I'm hoping you're right that it won't overheat it :s

  • Woohoo! ....It works! Now I can finally download the HD content for Battlefield 3 aswell ... the damn 4gb said there wasn't enough memory when there was nothing on it!!! ...anyway thanks alot great vid

  • I did this with a 20gb old hdd I had thanks!!!

  • will the mouse pad being used as the shock absorber mess up the bottom part of the hard drive since there is no casing on it?

  • @dom0kun20 No not at all, it's there to stop the drive from moving around. Cardboard or fabric would work too, as long as it's not a conductive material.

  • @tuvix72 will adding the foam cause the hard drive to overheat? If not, what other materials can I use to stabilize it that won't mess it up/cause it to overheat?

  • @Ballmazing It won't overheat, you're only covering the bottom compared to the drive Microsoft sells for the XBOX slim which is completely enclosed. You could even use a folded up paper towel... an old sock :-)

  • So theoretically, couldn't you take like a 500GB hard drive, put the Xbox's custom firmware on it, and put that in the slim's hard drive case?

  • @l33tpete Correct, google "XBOX hard drive firmware" and you'll find tutorials on doing just that. I have never tried it however. I believe it has to be a Western Digital Scorpio drive...

  • will this work with my Elites 120GB drive or does just recognise the 250GB drives?

  • @OriginalNoseBleed Yes, it will accept any size drive with the XBOX firmware (from another XBOX)

  • what type of screwdriver is that?

  • @AgentCell Torx T-6. You can buy a Husky 6 piece Torx set at Home Depot for $6.

  • xbob? lol

  • your are amazinnnnnnnnnnng , you have save my life for BF3

  • @keva91000 OMG... HD texture pack?

  • I'm using cardboard to secure the drive. that's good right?

  • After that can you copy / transfers the old data (from 4gb) to the "new" Hard drive? Thx for reply!

  • NICE vid man ... clear and to the point ..

  • BEST ONE IVE SEEN YET !!!!! good job

  • So can I Upgrade the 250GB ?

  • @shaamRKO You can always slide the 250GB hard drive out and replace it with a larger one. The drives do need to be former XBOX drives or new XBOX drives as they have a custom firmware the XBOX will only accept.

  • But already 4GB space in Xbox slim ?

  • @shaamRKO Yes the 4GB Slim version has 4GB of Flash memory on the main board, it is not removable and does not occupy the hard drive slot. So when you add a drive, you end up with two memory storage devices, the 4GB and the added hard drive. Hope that helps

  • @tuvix72 wow that answered my question ive been thinking about for days now. thanks so much lol.

  • i have question in Xbox 4GB Slim There is no hard drive inside the xbox ?

Anyone please reply i need to buy Xbox 360 4GB Slim plz Help

  • @shaamRKO Correct, the 4GB slim uses flash memory and the hard drive slot is empty. Mine was the 4GB slim too, saved me $100 having the old XBOX hard drive from my old system!

  • thanks I'm gonna trade black ops to my friend for a 120 gb

  • I have the 4GB model if i bought the 250gb hard drive could i still access everything

  • @LegoFilmKid Yes, you can access both memory devices and copy data from one to another as needed.

  • is that a ssd or hdd

  • @ICYASIAN95 It's a HDD, the one I ripped out of the original XBOX 360 HDD. You can use any of the original XBOX HDDs of any size, just need to remove them from the housing.

  • @tuvix72

Any size? So not just 250GB? I have a 60GB HDD from my Pro, this will work yes?

  • @Nev6999 Yes absolutely, it will work with any size hard drive from a previous XBOX setup.

  • Comment removed

  • This kid is my hero, I didn't even know my xbox 4GB had that sercret opening.

Good job bro, keep up the good work.
