  • This song makes me feel like like i am floating on air or flying through space.I feel so relax when i listen to this song while about the Ancient Greeks who so much shape up so much of our modern world. What would life have been like if the ancient Greeks never existed?

  • I disagree with 4:11. :)

  • MAN, not only is socrates epic at call of duty but he's a genius as well

  • God bless the Greeks! They are the light of the world...

  • Greco-Buddhism, sometimes spelt Graeco-Buddhism, refers to the cultural syncretism between Hellenistic culture and Buddhism, which developed between the 4th century BCE and the 5th century CE

  • a fool talks because he has to say something, a wise man talks because he has something to say

  • what an excellent video.

fool men learn from his own experience, wise men learn from history.

  • I believes wise men learn from anything, while fool men don't

  • Ἁρμονίη ἀφανὴς φανερῆς κρείσσων.

The hidden harmony is better than the visible

  • guys im greek and i am in 9th grade_ everyday in school we learn about ancient greek phlosophhy and you know what i agree with you that these people gave us the basics and i admire them for that but im kinda tired of listening to the same things for 15 years here in greece....therefore im not a fan but it's still ok i guess

  • More about understanding than listening is your chance to become wise from what you are taught.

I live in Australia and was never taught a single piece of literature from such scholars in all 12 years in private education; you should consider yourself incredibly lucky as people of this generation should be exposed to this as much as you are now.

    Count your stars my friend.

  • The world would be a much better place if people were exposed to it and actually looked for an understanding of every teaching, can you imagine the changes?

  • @adamdren I shall, for even the education to speak all the languages in the world is not worth as much as the ancients, for the greatest thinkers are those that not are oblivious, but those that are within the realm of density. Before this video, I only knew three. Aristotle, Epicurus and Socrates.

  • Some people would like to trade places with you, they would be lucky to have the teachings of those philosophers, even thought it might be repetitive, I'm from Puerto Rico, and I started studying philosophy now when I'm in college, I wish I could've started learning philosophy from a younger age

  • Greeks and Arabs owned the world before a long time ago ... They putted the basics for all sciences ...

But now .. The Arabs become the stupidest and cowardest people in the world ....why?? Israel kill us and we smile for them ....

  • greeks and arabs dont belong in the same sentence imo.

didnt the muslim armies (turks) attack greece and absorb greek philosophy ?

  • wasnt it the romans who conquered Greece and applied its culture to their own?

  • Well, that's the essence of a famous quote by the Roman poet Horace:

    Graecia capta ferum victorem cepit

Captive Greece took captive her savage conqueror.

  • @ELNENE169 tThey conquered greeks but they adopted the greek culture

  • @PetrosRiot isnt that what I said? in any case, they also changed some of the greek philosophies, and also didnt adopt the focus on pacifism and demogracy the athenians strived for

  • @ELNENE169 Yes prety much ;)

  • Yes, the Arabs absorbed ancient Greek learning (and made respectable progress of their own), though not through arms I might add -- but so did the rest of us! As a classicist, I can only respect many of the achievements of Arabic culture; we in the West aren't exposed to them due to the nature of the narrative of Western history, however. Indeed, one can say that Islam has many undesirable aspects, but the same could be said of its antecedant, Christianity, which held sway in Europe.

  • @jismith1989 islam killed science bad for the arabs

  • @MrZuriel indeed they did

  • It's beautiful logic and I'd rather read more of it now in my college years and maybe even develop a writing myself like them 3000 n so years ago!!!!!

  • I love greek philosophy <3

  • is anyone else finding it difficult to impossible to share videos the last week or so? multiple requests to input verification codes, internal server error messages, sometimes it just times out. ridiculous

  • i love this one:

"the most useful piece of learning for the uses of life is to unlearn what is untrue."

    ~antisthenes

i hadnt heard of him. :)

  • true dat.

"unlearning" is also the hardest thing to do.

  • Ya I liked that one to. Oh by the way I likes the new channel.

    Peace & love Girl!!

  • da greeks is purty shmat ;)
