That is what's called over penetration and it's generaly a bad thing unless you are trying to penetrate armor or cover.
Bullets should transfer all or most of their kinetic energy into the target.
Hunting bullets are specificaly designed to mushroom and fragment on impact to increase drag resulting in a shockwave that causes a much bigger wound channel.
The bullet not over penetrating and passing through helps you bring the animal down faster. I have never hunted in my life btw.

Ive heard both great things and terrible things with this head, either the person has no issues and loves it or some of the complaints are that the blades break off. Now I was looking at the bass pro shop enlarged picture of the head and noticed something that might be why there have been some problems. When the blades go through bone they are supposed to compress, to do that the back of the blade needs to slide backwards through the grove. -continued- stupid 500 max characters
The problem looking at the picture is the arrow diameter is larger then the grove, so when compressing, it will hit the top of the arrow and stop it from sliding and then may cause a break. Maybe the people who love them are running a smaller dia arrow allowing the blade to move past the grove if need be, and the ones who are suffering breaks have a dia arrow that is too large. -continued-
One solution is at the end of the grove make a small ramp that will bring the blade over a larger dia arrow. Is there a specific arrow dia that this is designed for? Are people just running to large of an arrow? Again take a look at the bass pro shop pic enlarged to see what Im talking about.

The only reason why there are animals in Africa is because big game hunters are willing to pay tons of money in order to hunt them. If that wasn't the case no one in Africa would want to protect them and insure that they would have a sustaining population. If you had mice in your house you'd want to get rid of them, but if I said that people wanted to pay you a thousand dollars to hunt each mouse in your house you'd probably reconsider. Putting a value on something makes it valuable.

And you are exactly correct...the giraffe was butched and consumed by many, many families...no meat wasted. This giraffe was shot with a rifle, immediately propped up specifically to test the Atom broadhead on as close to live as possible without putting anyones lives at risk. And yes....there were MANY hungry local families whom cherished the meat they received once the butchering of it was completed.
The blood pooled in the chest cavity and due to the quickness of the setup/shot with arrow...still was fluid and not coagulated much hence it ran openly down the wound channel.

Ive heard both great things and terrible things with this head, either the person has no issues and loves it or some of the complaints are that the blades break off. Now I was looking at the bass pro shop enlarged picture of the head and noticed something that might be why there have been some problems. When the blades go through bone they are supposed to compress, to do that the back of the blade needs to slide backwards through the grove. -continued- stupid 500 max characters

The problem looking at the picture is the arrow diameter is larger then the grove, so when compressing, it will hit the top of the arrow and stop it from sliding and then may cause a break. Maybe the people who love them are running a smaller dia arrow allowing the blade to move past the grove if need be, and the ones who are suffering breaks have a dia arrow that is too large. -continued-

Almost all type of hunting started with archery and no matter where you are mostly 97% of the time the entire animal will be used for something. Hunting anything in africa is mainly just for the trophy but what you don't know and see is that where ever it is in africa the give the entire animal to the local village.
