  • Stanton sucks balls for scratching..

  • This is why I love Youtube! Have had my 1210s since 12 of may 94 and never cleaned them I´m sorry to say.. However this will change.

Ofcourse you can always try to do this yourself giving it time. But it´s nice when people like yourself release these kind of videos for guys like me giving oneself a better chance for succes and ease of mind for that matter:)

    Cheers buddy!

  • @BASSisAmust Thank you, you made my day :)

  • Does anyone know how much play is meant to be in the platter by applying pressure on both sides and rocking it back and forth? I have bought a whole new m447 cartridge and still seems to skip. Both of my platters have the same amount of movement.

  • @paulspydar great vid thanks, from this I reckon its probably my needle is way too old & worn, at least i hope it is! thanks again to the uploader.

  • The wobbly platter ploblem can also be caused by one or more of the 3 screws that hold the spindle in place being even slightly loose. Maybe include this in the description? If i'd have known that before I watched this vid it would have saved me taking the whole spindle out to check the baseplate (which wasn't bent in my case). The problem was the loose screws all along.

  • @flippantmrflip Hello, Thanks for watching my videos. I really wish I cant make a video for each and every, very specific , issue that may go wrong with a 1200. There is just not enough time. Your particular situation of loose screws is extremely rare and was obviously caused by a careless, previous repair. Just remember, my video did help you with the discovery of your problem. In fact, even though it took you a little more time than you wished for your discovery, you now have more knowledge.

  • @tuneup1200 Yeah man don't get me wrong I'm glad I've now got a better understanding of how the thing works so thanks for that haha.

  • That cartridge and needle is not designed for scratching, you need a dedicated scratch needle/cartridge the shure m447 is the industry standard

  • very important on s-shaped arms is to rotate the cart about 23 degrees to the right..it will improve the needle stabilty on the grooves..of course the ortofon concordes can't be adjusted

  • It can always be yur needles they look pretty cheap to me

  • @vintagelements I use a square of toilet paper, its not permanent but works.

  • Just the thought of hiting any part of my technics with a hammer makes me cringe

  • @vintagelements that's another really good idea that I've seen and failed to post. Thanks a lot.

  • i have two brand new needles and vinyl/. both turntables are at the same settings . i tightened the tone arm . the right one skips very slightly while playing music

    ?

  • Tonearm balanced + 2-3, Anti Skating 0, Height 3, Carts - Shure m447 - Had these 1200mk2's 6 years and even with the first ortofon concord stylus I had on there, has been WAY too much side to side movement on the needle in the groove causing it to skip all the time. Have changed the stylus in the headshell 3 or 4 times and its never any better. It still does it, I'm still pissed can anyone help? Thanks

  • @Kilaheem If you haven't already, check out my videos titled "Tone Arm Trouble"

  • the platter should hardly rock...other turntables do this, not 1200's.

  • THANKS.

  • TO ALL : Please, if you can, also include your tonearm settings if you're recommending certain cartridges ( i.e. height, weight, skate etc....) This info will greatly help others. Please see my video "The Balancing Act" to get correct weight measrement. Thank you all for the added tips.

  • ive got concords you can scratch with your elbo they are real good stanton 500s were ok but jump like a bastard

  • Good video.

  • thanks for the vid.... i'm using an old cartridge that i can see visibly moves side to side when scratching. i hope this is the source of the problem.

  • A big problem i had, is that the headshells come with a small metal weight in them, but in myn they had gone missing so there was not enough weight keeping the needle on the record, so i got a few lead shots from a fishing store that were 2.5g each then i put two on the headshell in the little holes and it sorted it out!

  • do you have to change the entire cartridge, or just the needle?

  • @ItzDaTwiGGajD Just the needle should be fine.

  • Preciate the video, the first example is my problem... and one other thing.. one of my tables dosnt have a headshell is that a problem?

  • @ProfessorPeeweee do you mean that it is a one-piece unit like the Ortofon or Trackmaster? If it's one of these, it should be no problem at all. Those work great because you dont have to worry about adjusting the needle's overhang like on the stock headshell. There's also less room for tracking error with an Ortofon or Trackmaster type headshell because tracking angles are fixed.

  • It skips because you're using a John Denver record with narrow ass grooves... DUH.

  • @MurksYourHeroes It sure beats using those old KTEL compilation records, remember those? How else could they fit 8-10 songs per side. Those things had the worst freq reproduction. Those were crazy narrow grooves!

  • every turntable will skip...in hands of a noob

  • Im having too much trouble with vinyl turntables, I think im going to switch digital just because they cant skip.. I know they sound worse but atleast my performance doesnt

  • @joidi2 i don't think - by this time - they (higher priced) even sound "worse" anymore...using proper quality audio-material of course.

it's just from my pov - microwave style VS proper cooking. yeah output COULD be the same, but HOW is it done? by practice -> skill - or reading the manual.

but my guess, you are a mix-dj not a turntablist or scratch-dj - since you even consider going digital and If you love making music, but don't want to practice that much, go digital :)

    rip. 1200s ;'(

  • check ur settings. try stanton scratch needles.. you nont have to use tape or stickers.

  • @Shineboie

no stanton, use shure m44/7,they are the best for scratching, rotate the cart 23 degrees and tape the record.

now u have the best skipproof possible

  • @Shineboie yep, everything is worth trying, sooner or later the new dj will find the right combo for him/herself.

  • well here is all i gotta say... you ruined your table i havent ever seen a 1200 skip my man.

  • THX !!!

  • very good vid

  • You rock man

  • get a shure m447 needle

  • @delsurway im planning on getting those needles...will these actually reduce skipping to a noticeable amount because the technics 1200 i have now jumps way to much when i scratch

  • @DjTiP04 its probably isn't balance and your grams is probably wrong... the shure m447 are good when i bought there nice but i change my needles every 5 months

so it wont fuk up more

  • @delsurway I know a lot of dj's who have had good luck with those. They have a lower center of gravity. Thanks for the post.

  • CAREFUL WITH THOSE DYNAFLEX RECORDS! They're so flimsy.

  • @VinylLad No kiddin' , they fly pretty good too!

  • Man!!

Im Brazilian, gostei muito do seu vídeo, Muito obrigado!!!

  • Only once and a while do I get to see someone who loves Technics as much as myself,

Thank you for posting these informative video's, they really do help people out,

    Much respect!
