Played this in High School circa 1985. We had issues with tunings all the way up to the performance. Then it happened. That magical moment when it all clicks. It was perfect, at least to us! When we reached the final note our band director looked at us and mouthed "wow!" The audience was stunned momentarily, and then thunderous applause. I remember it vividly even though it was 25 years ago. Goosebumps all over. Just awesome. A players piece. Thanks for the memory blast!
thank you so much for loading up this. this version from the 50s' under the conductor William Pitt is my favorite. old it may be, the best interpretaiton i heard so far.
just one request:
could you kindly reload it with a louder volume settting, if it doesn't mean too much work for you?
Well after all, the Act III Bridal Chorus is actually taking Elsa to the bedroom for the...ummmm...post wedding and party....ummmm...well, you know. :)
@mastersinger47 Yes, let's just be blunt about it and say that the Act III "Bridal Chorus" is actually the serenading of the bride as she is taken to the post-wedding bedding... I also much prefer this procession and remember singing in the chorus for the 1980 Chicago Lyric production of Lohengrin. What a great piece of music!
I´ve watched this opra so many times... of course i`m from Bayreuth it is one of the most beautiful cities in whole Bavaria.. I´m so proud of Bayreuth
It is a bit like the lottery. You have to apply each year and hold thumbs. Also, if you do get chosen take a cushion along. Hear the seats are uncomfortable:)
Althought this is the one of the most touching pieces of music that Wagner wrote in his "late early" period of music, he became a better poet and librettist than a musicalist/composer in his later period works. His prose in the libretti of the Ring is phenominal, but his Orchestration, Melodic, Harmonic, and polyrhythmic lines in Parsifal (Lohengrin's father) composed almost 40 years later, shine without comparison - Good Friday Spell - WOW!!
I think the this version, Gesegnet soll sie schreiten,is better than the concert band version, Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral. I love this piece so much!!!!!!!! ♫♫♫
@winstonchurchill95 Love this fascinating paradox of this to your nick name! :) Hehe, never mind.^^

@Drahthaar422 Yes, I read that. But which year? Under whose direction? Obviously it's a studio recording, instead of a live one.

Wow. As I also had played this in band, I had only heard the band version. Thank you.

Those who like this should give a listen to Mahler's work also. To have seen him conduct this..wow....

Played this piece at State Band Contest as a 15 yr old high school student--Every
girl in the band wanted this played instead of the more traditional "Here Comes the Bride" (also from Lohengrin)
still makes me misty eyed to this day.

I agree whole haertedly. I much prefer this to Act III's wedding march. I used this piece for my own bride at my wedding!!!
