  • seems like it would work A LOT better with touchscreen, but laptops with touchscreen is awkward

  • its not made just by intel, it is made by Novell and intel together

  • and, it isn't totally "from intel", its from the linux foundation, and intel supports them

  • @erkerikki no its from intel. don't speak unless you know what you're talking about lol

  • "no skype", it's a beta,

and besides, i you want moblin with a lot of apps, go get the ubuntu moblin remix, there is a dell mini-10 devellopers version that's availeble with this version.

Else, search the internet, the live-cd is availeble somewhere on ubuntu (but it's quite hard to find).

  • I preffer Jolicloud. Is a netbook os, and a cloud os. Not only netbook os like Moblin.

  • woaw nice speed moblin

  • cool! I'm gonna test this great software tomorrow...

  • Netbooks just arent cut to run PC OS's. Running XP is so 2002. It just downgrades the whole value of the new netbook.

  • you can buy netbooks with windows 7 pre installed.

  • @TailsYay

Solution: Linux Ubuntu. So much faster than any windows operating system on a netbook.

  • @TailsYay

    i'm running snow leopard...runs like a dream...

  • Really? How did u do that? And what are the specs Atom?

  • I just downloaded the image and burned it several hours ago. Some of his worse complaints have been fixed. I would like the M Zone (myzone) to be more customizable. The problems with the net are not so bad now, and the wifi connected right away. My Dell Mini 9 needed to build the WiFi driver, but that was ok for Beta.

Media playing is bum. It says coming soon on his, but they have terrible audio support so far. And that image thing is ... ??? still there? Yes.

  • Well you have to understand it's still in its early stages so we should expect weird things to happen and bugs. But it certainly does have a great potential.

  • A lot of innovation goes into Moblin. It's a great Linux.

  • Thanks for the review. I was thinking about trying it and I still might. But, I don't think I will get passed then just running it from my USB stick. I'm using Jolicloud and I love it.

  • Thanks for giving us some realistic insights!

  • Hard, but is true, Moblin2 has some weird features, in my case I couldn't connect myself to chat, I heard it uses pidgin, but it didn't work, so, luck us it is just beta, but has a lot work to do, in any case I think the recommendations made by jkk must to be done.

    Pace.

  • I think that it has a lot of potential but the have get the web browser better.

    cool vide though!

  • Thanks for great review. I too was thinking to try it but now I see it's not worth (yet). But it has lot's of potential. I like the English accent ;-)

  • I've been trying it too, but system bugs just don'e seem to stop, I know is a beta version , but I really thing is preety far from a RC, I have hope in this linux distibuitosn, because the usability is great and altought the browser features are really basic compared to a G Chrome or a M Firefox, this system might be good a in some considerable time.

  • Excellent Review. Thank you for your time doing this. Maybe you would like trying Ubuntu Netbook Remix. I'm checking your other videos. Please keep on publishing

  • Yea, please try some more. There is also a another one called Jolicloud, which also looks good, but I have no idea about functionality. Would like to get a full review on that.

  • jolicloud is based on linux ubuntu so it should function similar to it. the problem with jolicloud is you have to get an invitation to download it (its currently private).

  • is jolicloud free? and does it still beta or is a complete OS?

    Download link if possible

  • @voteboo its free but you need a invitation from the jolicloud team to download it. its still in BETA.

  • to be fair the video picture arranging thing does seem very annoying. shame cause it could trounce unr if it was easier to use.

  • Haha. I've been watching many looong videos from jkkmobile and on every video i've watched he seems to be very dissapointed and frustrated. I am guessing that moblin would seem intuitive in any other persons hands :)

  • bla bla bla!!!

for firefox go to 'applications' then click 'manage applications' enter a package name like firefox and download, just like every other linux

  • Aah, the bad English is annoying me. :P

  • the preview and the beta version a not same, in the preview you can see more feature...and you must add in the software update respo the dev's

  • thanks for saving me a lot of time. now i dont need waste my time on it.

  • linux will take over the pc market.

  • Over microsofts dead body.

  • thats my hope

  • All the latest Linux versions that are aimed at small devices like phones, netbooks and tablets are much nicer than Windows 7. And they will run on hardware that Windows wont run on. Linux based operating systems are the dominant platform for these devices, and the PC market (if it survives into the future) will follow weather Microsoft likes it or not.

Microsoft must change and adapt to survive the paradigm shift, and it is not doing so. Windows 7 will not be their savior.

  • @Keruaran: true. see just how so many big vendors have been dumping windows 7 for their slate computers in favor of android.

  • I love this OS because I've been looking for a very light weight OS for browsing the net.

  • exact, and with the stable version I think we could abilitate more repositories for fedora and then install software like Openoffice and whatever you want.

it has a good video driver also, not like the Ubuntu network remix, the videos on youtube are very fluid.

  • Hi, nice review, but i have a couple of issues, if you go to applications->Others, you will find a diferent web browser from the default one, it's firefox ;) it's already installed.

  • so what is the issue with that? you only gave one and you said a couple.

  • oh I forgot the second =P when it comes in mind I'll tell you.

I just want to make know that, because on the video the autor says that there's no way to have firefox and he complains about the default browser.(witcht is also firefox, but modificated.)

  • Thank you for clarifying this firefox thing. You say jkk said there can be no firefox, but he was actually wrong and there can be firefox? Is this correct. This is a linux variant. I do not see why you can't install and run firefox!

  • Firefox -> Minefield

  • could you compile and install 3rd party software like firefox or skype and use it as a system browser or IM software?

  • yes

  • good. as I understand the lack of possibilities to modify the system was the main thing that jkk was criticizing. if you could change the software and interface (which is the loveliest thing with linux systems) and still run it properly then we could have this os a second chance.

  • slitaz FTW baby...... try it guys.... im happy with it on my 4 yr old laptop

  • Thanks for the video!! Nice review. Decided me to not install it

    Thanks!

  • ha. you should be harsher! the more flaws and suggestions made, the more polished the final product should be, right? Great review, as always.

  • looks.. crap

  • I'm hopping so much in this Linux Distribution. Please Intel make us proud....

  • have you tried double clicking on the pictures?

  • On a thinclient would be good, but it is realy sucks

  • I'm happy that is not a finished product.

  • my friend just showed me this os today as well before jkk posted it looks pretty sweet

  • i knew this video was coming soon! let's hope this stuff is just beta issues

  • Pretty neat OS actually.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice vid as usual.

I hate moblin and I'll never use it again.

  • asus Eee 900<3

    It doesnt look that good

  • .. 900A .. with atom not celly

  • Yeah thats the one i have sooorry

  • At least it isn't made by moronsoft who now wants to sell you pieces of windows instead of the whole product. Want to connect to the internet? Pay for that feature. Now want to run more than three programs? Pay up. Just upgraded your video card? Pay Up. No wonder MS is getting the boot more and more from companies and countries.
