I know! I never liked the whole idea of the Human doctor and I think it was a big mistake on their part. I so wish they would bring Rose back. I think she and 11 would be good together!

I agree. Rose shouldn't be the only companion. I think that his time with Martha and his time with Donna affected him and made him a better person, adding more depth to the character.

I really don't want to jump to any conclusions about her yet, as it took me a long time to like Martha ("Last of the Time Lords"), but as it stands I like the friendly but not romantic relationship between them...and they seem to have hit it off right away as "best friends". He's a bit cheerier with her than he was with Martha as well, which is an improvement in my book.

Well, I don't think we give Martha enough credit when it comes to her being "desperate". I mean, she really does pine after him hopelessly, but she doesn't really understand the full extent of what's happened to Rose. She doesn't realise that he's -lost- her, not in that sense. I think she spends the majority of the time thinking that Rose was just an old girlfriend that deserted him.

Jon Pertwee was older than Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker was older than Peter Davison, and by the time Christopher Eccleston took the part, he was older than Paul McGann was when he had it. So far, only three doctors have been under the age of 40 when they started the part. Besides, if they kept getting younger and younger, the Doctor would be a teen eventually.
i want tennant to stay aslong as possible because if evry actor left the role after a couple of seasons the show would soon come to an end, theres only 3 more doctors to go :(
ah, but i have the official Doctor Who dictionary... woop go me.... and it says that a Time Lord can artifically add more lives to the thirteen he/she originally has... so you never know, he might end up with 30 lives, which is very unlikely... and i can't remember where but Russell T Davies was saying that once the revival of Doctor Who is finsihed, then he's hoping that someone else is gonna start it again in the future, and they had like 9 doctors in the last one.
Yeah, at first I didn't really use the logo symbols unless I was really comitted about using the fandom in videos...and that was only when I first got into Doctor Who, so I didn't have a clue whether or not I was going to pursue it.

Look I do not hate Rose. She was perfect but I prefer Martha...she got the Doctor to talk! Rose didn't even bother asking about his past. Except when she met Sarah Jane. And that was only out of jealously.
Yeah, they're really different. I think Martha is more curious about the Doctor, as she is a more intellectual person. Rose is more concerned with the present, and I think sometimes overwhelmed by the things the Doctor shows her. And yes, her jealously did probe one of her few moments of curiousity.
Ahh, well - that's good to know. I don't mind it, I just think having her attracted to a new person practically every other episode is getting annoying. "Whuh, you mean you're NOT into person X anymore?"

Yes, they help make the series, and they're an important aspect, but I think everyone seriously needs to move on from Rose. She was an awesome character, but you cannot compare her to Martha at all; they're two different characters.
This was made really early on during series three (like right after "Shakespeare Code" came out) and I was still a bit "Anti-Martha...let's have Rose back!", but since then my opinions have changed.
You're right, because there is more to the show than just relationships. And you're also right in saying that Martha and Rose are completly different. You can't justly compare them, because their differences too greatly outweigh their similiarites.
Yup, I hear a lot of older folks who watched the show way back when grumbling about how Doctor Who has become too fixated on relationships, and needs to go back to the old type of Doctor Who, and focus less on relationships.

I thought christopher eccelston was way better. The way he loved Rose looked more real than the way David does. I do think David is funnier. The way he uses his words and his expressions. He could be so oblivious to Martha about Rose. He really didn't know that he was being hurtfull to her. Sometimes he can be so blunt and rude.

Well, it's not fair to say that Rose is the Doctor's "only" love. Yellowgoodbye does have a point, and really there is no possible way that a man who is over nine hundred years old never fell in love.
Besides, he says that he "was a dad once", which means that he must have had some sort of relationship with a woman prior to his meeting Rose.
He had a whole life in Gallifrey that we weren't aware of, you know.

I know The Doctor must have had many loves but my opinion is that he has tried to keep himself from falling in love, self-preservation. But then he falls for Rose. I Think he did Love her, but I don't think he loved Martha as anything more than a friend where as she loves him. anyway it can't be like he falls in love straight away with every companion after he's been heartbroken.
I think that he realizes that he has a...different sort of lifestyle and that he doesn't want to hurt anyone...including himself...So he tries to keep the pain at bay by trying not to fall for anyone...and Rose just sort of slips through his defences.

Did not the Executive Producer for the episode where Rose and The Doctor parted say that "he was going to say it back". Meaning he was going to tell Rose he loved her too. That's enough for me tbh... I think he had feelings towards others in the past, but I think Rose is his first real love. As far as I remember from the years gone by of Who. :)
But there is more than one way of loving someone, you know? Like you say "I love you" to your parents, but you have no intention of snogging them.
I do think that his feelings for Rose were romantic, just from the little things he said, the way he behaved around her (as opposed to with his just-friend Martha), and certain little quirks like the way he looked at her sometimes (namely in "Christmas Invasion" when they're holding hands at the end and "New Earth" after Rose/Casandra snogs him).
Hmmm...that'd be a close one, wouldn't it? I think Rose. Not just because I prefer her...but for one little tiny reason.
The Doctor. He'd be wanting her to win, wouldn't he? Cos he loves her? And then Martha would feel bad, because she's Martha, and honestly, it's understandable. She'd feel hurt. And so she'd be an easy target.

I think the whole idea of Martha is that she's great, but no one is every going to replace Rose for the Doctor. Eventually Martha gave up waiting round for the Doctor to get over her, thats why she left.
I think the relationship with the Katherine Tate character will be very different - lots of comedy bickering, but I can't imagine romance happening.

Imagine though, if she had just turned a corner, she would have seen him.

Well, I don't think we give Martha enough credit when it comes to her being "desperate". I mean, she really does pine after him hopelessly, but she doesn't really understand the full extent of what's happened to Rose. She doesn't realise that he's -lost- her, not in that sense. I think she spends the majority of the time thinking that Rose was just an old girlfriend that deserted him.
So I think having the knowledge of the actual circumstances makes her seem desperate to us.

Not necessarily. Jon Pertwee was older than Patrick Troughton, Colin Baker was older than Peter Davison, and by the time Christopher Eccleston took the part, he was older than Paul McGann was when he had it. So far, only three doctors have been under the age of 40 when they started the part. Besides, if they kept getting younger and younger, the Doctor would be a teen eventually.

ah, but i have the official Doctor Who dictionary... woop go me.... and it says that a Time Lord can artifically add more lives to the thirteen he/she originally has... so you never know, he might end up with 30 lives, which is very unlikely... and i can't remember where but Russell T Davies was saying that once the revival of Doctor Who is finsihed, then he's hoping that someone else is gonna start it again in the future, and they had like 9 doctors in the last one.

Yeah, at first I didn't really use the logo symbols unless I was really comitted about using the fandom in videos...and that was only when I first got into Doctor Who, so I didn't have a clue whether or not I was going to pursue it.
A lot of my videos (I think at least my first hundred) don't have the symbols (also because I offered my first sixty or so for download).

Look I do not hate Rose. She was perfect but I prefer Martha...she got the Doctor to talk! Rose didn't even bother asking about his past. Except when she met Sarah Jane. And that was only out of jealously.

Yeah, they're really different. I think Martha is more curious about the Doctor, as she is a more intellectual person. Rose is more concerned with the present, and I think sometimes overwhelmed by the things the Doctor shows her. And yes, her jealously did probe one of her few moments of curiousity.

Ohhh she most definatly is.
But Eve Myles said that Gwen is a lot less...well, at any rate she's way more faithful in series two.
I don't want to spoil anything for you...like the ending of the series if you haven't seen it yet, but that has a lot to do with it.
But I absolutly adore the thought of Jack/Gwen.

Yes, they help make the series, and they're an important aspect, but I think everyone seriously needs to move on from Rose. She was an awesome character, but you cannot compare her to Martha at all; they're two different characters.

Very true.
This was made really early on during series three (like right after "Shakespeare Code" came out) and I was still a bit "Anti-Martha...let's have Rose back!", but since then my opinions have changed.
You're right, because there is more to the show than just relationships. And you're also right in saying that Martha and Rose are completly different. You can't justly compare them, because their differences too greatly outweigh their similiarites.

I thought christopher eccelston was way better. The way he loved Rose looked more real than the way David does. I do think David is funnier. The way he uses his words and his expressions. He could be so oblivious to Martha about Rose. He really didn't know that he was being hurtfull to her. Sometimes he can be so blunt and rude.

I watched, what 1 episode sometime when my sister was watching it but I wasn't drawn in, I got up halfway through and went and did something else, I guess I never gave him much of a chance but when you don't like an actor its hard to watch.

dont get me wrong, i love Rose, but i like Martha as well, shes not replacing her is she, she is completely different to Rose, and i admire Freema Agyeman for taking on a role that will put a lot of pressure on her from the public because she has to live up to Billie Pipers standards, which were hard to follow, but you have to admit, Freema did it very well!!!!

Oh, I agree completly.
No one is going to replace Rose in the Doctor's eyes...she's one of a kind.
But Martha is a good friend to him, and she's a fantastic character.
I really look forward to her return in series four, since I think the turning point from me sort of liking her to thinking that she's brilliant was "Last of the Time Lords".
She's brave...it takes guts to travel the world, defeat the Master, and walk out on the man you love (even though he didn't love her...not the point)

And she's making an appearance on Torchwood.
Also, there are all sorts of rumours surfacing right now about Rose returning for three episodes...I think it's best not to believe the rumours, though.
Martha coming back is fact though. I've seen promotion pictures online.

Alright. Well. Just before we get into a smackdown here, I'm going to say that I personally prefer Rose. HOWEVER.
Martha and Rose are both intelligent in different ways. Martha is superior in book smarts, that's true...but Rose is good with instinct and emotions.
They both have their strong points.
You can't say that one will "pwn" the other, since no one really knows for sure...Frankly, Martha and Rose are just too different to compare.

Well, it's not fair to say that Rose is the Doctor's "only" love. Yellowgoodbye does have a point, and really there is no possible way that a man who is over nine hundred years old never fell in love.
Besides, he says that he "was a dad once", which means that he must have had some sort of relationship with a woman prior to his meeting Rose.
He had a whole life in Gallifrey that we weren't aware of, you know.

I know The Doctor must have had many loves but my opinion is that he has tried to keep himself from falling in love, self-preservation. But then he falls for Rose. I Think he did Love her, but I don't think he loved Martha as anything more than a friend where as she loves him. anyway it can't be like he falls in love straight away with every companion after he's been heartbroken.

My feelings exactly.
I think that he realizes that he has a...different sort of lifestyle and that he doesn't want to hurt anyone...including himself...So he tries to keep the pain at bay by trying not to fall for anyone...and Rose just sort of slips through his defences.
That's just my opinion though.

Did not the Executive Producer for the episode where Rose and The Doctor parted say that "he was going to say it back". Meaning he was going to tell Rose he loved her too. That's enough for me tbh... I think he had feelings towards others in the past, but I think Rose is his first real love. As far as I remember from the years gone by of Who. :)

But there is more than one way of loving someone, you know? Like you say "I love you" to your parents, but you have no intention of snogging them.
I do think that his feelings for Rose were romantic, just from the little things he said, the way he behaved around her (as opposed to with his just-friend Martha), and certain little quirks like the way he looked at her sometimes (namely in "Christmas Invasion" when they're holding hands at the end and "New Earth" after Rose/Casandra snogs him).

The Doctor. He'd be wanting her to win, wouldn't he? Cos he loves her? And then Martha would feel bad, because she's Martha, and honestly, it's understandable. She'd feel hurt. And so she'd be an easy target.
Unless being hurt makes her fight harder.
In which case, I have no idea.

I think the whole idea of Martha is that she's great, but no one is every going to replace Rose for the Doctor. Eventually Martha gave up waiting round for the Doctor to get over her, thats why she left.
I think the relationship with the Katherine Tate character will be very different - lots of comedy bickering, but I can't imagine romance happening.

There are things about the three chracters (Rose, Martha, and Donna) that are just very different. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.
It'll be interesting to see Donna's character back though, and to see how her relationship with the Doctor (whether chummy or romantic) develops.
I don't really have an opinion on that just yet, and probably won't until she actually returns.
