  • Truly beautiful song. Oh, and fuck you JimmyPagesSoloLover. You sound fucking retarded. You cant prove that God exists. Nature is all around us.

  • I have never heard any voice better than Charlies'. He made you feel evey word he was singing. He himself was a gift to Bluegrass music.

  • Charlie's voice got better and better...only George Jones sings better!!! Gorgeous...

  • 生きてるときにあいたかったなぁ~

  • Charlie Waller has a voice that just makes things right! Sometimes his voice sounds like Mac Wiesman. Awesome Awesome Awesome!

  • Bad , bad. bad. What happened to this band? They seem to be going straight downhill. Horrible. An insult to Bluegrass music.

  • @manzrennug Don't forget...Charlie is very weak here. I doubt he lived much longer. The rest were not looking forward to a band without him. Sure...things were dim by this time..

  • "She told me of her love for the children in her trust... I tried to comfort her...but she would not be still..."

Words appropriate indeed as this planet endures a dark night of the soul...both herself and her children.

    Thank you for the upload!

    Namaste!

  • Late in his career and his battle with illness Charlie Waller had to sit. What a wonderful sweet voice. He is missed.

  • Nobody beats Gordo's original vocals.....Nobody!

  • I think if we could here God sing, his voice would sound just like Charlie Waller's.

  • God created nature & all things there in. Oh how man has so taken from this earth out of greed. However, there will come a time, when The Lord returns man will no longer destroy our planet & the gifts God provides. Trees, air, animals & all things will have a mighty protector. There is NO mother nature but a loving almight God.

  • @JimmyPagesSoloLover ... wow! you certainly must be one of those kooks that give Christians a bad name. NO mother nature???? what BIble to you read from Kook? or are you a member of Westboro Baptist Church that calls our soldiers names, think you would fit right in with them.

I have an easy solution for you..... don't listen

  • @JimmyPagesSoloLover lighten up man i go to church to but nature is nature (nobody said god didn't make it. and mother nature i think is more of a metaphor or a saying than something god like)

  • @JimmyPagesSoloLover God is claimed mostly as He in the bible. the times that God shows compassion and mother like qualities, God is depicted as Her. that's where "Mother Nature" comes from. If you look at Taoism/Daoism there is a force flowing through every living being bonding us together. That helped me understand what i said before. If your going to be a person to assault used for a number of centuries, please have respect for people with tallent that you dont have

  • lol, he's fat

  • @lorentsenjr Newman from Seinfeld haha

  • Man. Two things, I always loved this song and I have to admit that I've always wondered what the real meaning was behind it. If Bill Yates said it was about a guy in love who went up to get away from it all, then who can argue with the man! Last thing but in now way the least, I miss the legend Charlie Waller. He was taken from us much too soon.

  • Wonderful song written by Gordon Lightfoot. Redwood Hill is on his 1971 Summer Side of Life album.

.I guess he knows what it's about.

  • :Precious. Charlie was. Video is. Memory of Charlie will always be.

  • I love this song. Does anyone know if he is playing a "Flatiron" mandolin?? The headstock sure looks like one. Charlie was a legend.

  • This definately a flatiron mandolin , looks and older one also but very well taken care of!! yes your right its a flat iron the best they make!! i seen one just like it one time has some very fine inlay work also!!

  • I was there, we played a set on the second stage. RIP Charlie, we miss ya.

  • Good Bluegrass!!!!

  • does anybody know the true meaning of the story of this song????

  • Not really for sure I figure its one of those songs that has a story deep deep deep inside but its still a great song.

  • honestly it seems like it may have been a girl friend that thought she needed a man but found out she really did'nt! or it seems that way to me?

  • @mcdaniel01

Bill Yates, who was with The Gentlemen for over 20 years, told me it was about a guy who was in love, who gone up to get away from it all.

  • Excellent. I love when people cover Lightfoot songs. He can't get enough credit for his amazing compositions

  • Classic Grass!

  • Thank you so much for this. It hit me like a ton of bricks...loved this man

  • Don't get much better than this.

    Charlie was a great singer.

  • I still cry when I watch Charlie sing. To me, it was never better than the Gents, no matter the style of music. Its odd, I have seen him perform so many times over my life yet it was never enough.

  • Great song.

  • great man just great charlie were going to miss that voice.rip
