Why Ryan Montgomery chose Interdisciplinary Studies as a Major

Compared to a student who has a BFA in Graphic Design vs an IDS student whose concentrations were Graphic Design and Art, who would get a job first? I just dont want to make a mistake just because I'm ready to get out of school and student loans are kicking my butt. I want to be a sucessful designer

I'm in a bind with deciding weather to take up IDS. I'm a graphic design major and I'm ready to finish school. I was introduced to IDS through my advisor and he recommended that I take up IDS and combined graphic design and art to form my own major but the next semester he forgot he told me to do that and didn't know why he told me to. His exact words were that they send students to the IDS department if they feel like are not good enough to be in the graphic design department. Its it legit?
