Hi Davie, nice fly obviously going to catch, do you role the hair on a hook tied version aswell because in my hook version i used some in the wing and some as a throat, is it better roling them?
I would wind the hair round the hook as well tye it on as you would as normal. The colour mix of the willie gunn is one of the best as you know, a pattern called the Glenfarclas is also worth tying....
Someday It would be cool to see your fly boxes on Video..i caught a glimpse of one on one of your fishing/tying videos and it looked pretty sweet and organized! How would you recommend fishing this fly?
I do like to try and keep my boxes tidy but there is times they can end up in a lump after a few days fishing..I just fish the copper tube as I would do a normal fly it just sits better in fast water it's easier to control and cover the lies. The waters I fished these tube flies are the Doon, Ayr and the Stinchar...
hi dave just a nother question can you put up different silver doctor variations or sent me some different wing materials like rabbit or sumthing like that
Hi Dave I was wondering cause im tying them ona budget (ex cheap cotton swabs and tubeing) how do you set the tube that kinda holds the hook for the back and can you put on a diffrent variations of the silver doctor thanks
The sleeving I have, I bought long time ago it's very similar to fuel line tubing which you can buy in a toy model shop or what you can buy in the tackle shop is silcone tubing which is very good as it comes in a few colours which help the look of your fly.
Whilst fishing the Findhorn i met an elderly bloke called Dusty Milar who told me he invented this fly and after a bit of research i t was him sure enough .
What has happened to your superglue is called blooming and this can happen to any, it means that it's either out of date or you are tying where there's lots of mosture in the air which is the activator for the superglue. If it's not bad you can varnish over it and this will clear it up, this is the reason why I always finish with varnish as this seals the head and stops the blooming.. The glue I use is Loctite Easy Brush..

Also, im sure i've asked this before, but would dyed squirrel tails work?
The ones i have are dyed yellow, fire orange and black but the yellow and orange ones have ots of black showing and dont look as vibrant as the bucktail.
hi davie, have tied a few tube flies, first time, but how do you rig them for fishing, eg, attach hook etc, or is there anywhere on you tube that demonstrates this, dave, antrim.

Hi Davie
Just tied this fly and used glue for the first time, but it dried slightly white/grey. Can you recommend a good superglue for heads please?
Thanks

Hi Davie,
can you tie this on a hook instead of a tube?
I only have hooks and no experience with tubes.
Also, im sure i've asked this before, but would dyed squirrel tails work?
The ones i have are dyed yellow, fire orange and black but the yellow and orange ones have ots of black showing and dont look as vibrant as the bucktail.
Thanks Again,

Hi Dave,
It's easy, just thread the nylon through the tube and attach the treble with the knot you use normally.

Davie what is the smallest tube you tie on?

Hi Chance,
The smallest I have used is 1/4 inch plastic especially when the water is very low...

Hi Davie
Great tie looks great too.
Do you have a web site for that tube holder? I have been trying to find one like that.

If you look at my favourites you will see the HMH tube fly tool being demonstrated as well as the website...
