Do people not realize that just because a dog is rubbing it's butt on something it doesn't always mean that it has worms. Bulldogs can't bend their body enough to bite at it's own butt, therefore they must find other ways of scratching that itch. I worked at a Dog Kennal. A bulldog there didn't like baths. He would do this "dance" in the grass after his bath. Didn't have worms, didn't need his glands expressed. He just didn't like the feeling of a wet butt and couldn't lick it dry.

I have a bulldog that does this. The reason why my bulldog does it is because he has an inverted tail. The tail goes in and creates a pocket that the tail sits in. Because of the location of the pocket it will start growing yeast and other nasty stuff. Because of the yeast and other nasty stuff the pocket will become irritated and start to bother/hurt your dog. That's why he's scatching his ass. You need to get some malacetic wipes and clean that thing out.

@jdogl79 My Basset Hound also has skin problems. There is a spot he's always scratching in his back and eventually it becomes irritated. I've used oats and baby shampoo which helps but do you think this malacetic thing would help¡ Thanks!

They are one of the smartest breeds and I happen to think they are gorgeous. I love their wrinkles and their build. If you don't like this breed, why would you watch a video about one? i work at a vets office, when dogs do that it usually means that their anal glands need to be expressed, that is the dog's way of trying to express them. take him to the vet, and ask them to check that.

not anal glands, fleas or tape worm. bulldogs suffer from either vaginal itch because they cant clean themselves or tail itch due to the nasty shit that goes on under there tail. you have to clean them cause the cant clean themselves. i have a female and it's like having a baby. i have to clean her vaginal area and under her tail on a daily basis.

Nope, our first bullie was a boy, he had to be kept clean in the popo area as well, and he had a cork screw tail. Our second, a female, had no tail, but a pocket. I had to keep gloves and baby wipes at the back door to clean her. The are adorable but very high maintenance! Otherwise they would get infections and run up vet bills if you didn't keep them clean.

I hope you know your bulldog isn't doing his little dance for shits and giggles. He's doing it to alleviate something. He might have an infection under his tail pocket in which case you should have it taken care of immediately. My friend's bulldog (sister of my bulldog) did the same thing and he just assumed she was being silly. Turned out she had an infection and they had to cut off the entire tail because they waited for too long. Please, have your dog checked. Cute dog btw
