  • wonderful!!!

  • wonderful - thanks a lot !!

  • better than the original

  • real good memories

  • Thankyou.

  • damn it! i saw this documentry on BBC4 other night about these and other great acts like Joni Mitchell....i only got the first album but man it blows me away.....i must get other albums!

any recommendations for someone without a clue but likes good music.

i never heard this version of blackbird before.....simply beautiful.

  • Try Steven Stills album called Manases. Enjoy

  • try deja vu, and nashs songs for beginners

  • I was just listening to the Beatles' White Album when it hit track 11(Blackbird) I had to come on here to listen to this version of Blackbird.

Awesome, awesome, awesome-- and thanks again for uploading this :D :D

  • Damn, right when the harmony comes in on Blackbird I just want to cry...

  • Crosby is just amazing, always and forever.

  • Most excellent harmony thru my Bose..

  • BLACKBIRD FOREVER~~~Beatles can't touch this...acoustical harmonic genius...BLACKBIRD FOREVER

  • I'd forgotten how much I love CSN -- thanks for reminding me!

  • I like that better than the original!

  • even CSN bows to the Beatles

  • Who's playing the piano eh?

Plus its an amazingly great vid, Nash has the best voice, and Black Bird sounds way better than the original version

  • brilliant, perfection...

  • Nash is so cool

and so is crosby and stills

    penis, hahaha.

  • I'll bet Graham couldn't believe it...only a short time before he'd left the hollies partly because they were reluctant to release this song and here he is performing it in front of the Woodstock masses...good decision Graham!

  • I love this so much, the combination of the two songs is perfect.

  • F. dude! I don wanna see chickens and animals on a train if I go on vacation. U one strange freakin' dude. And besides, if your chick's hair smells like a garden, she's prolly been sleepin in one all nite. Uh-huh.

  • porra assim e ke PORRA BOA SONG

  • Oh, Stephen Stills...be still, my heart! You'll always be adorable to me.

These guys sing like angels even now, all these years later. Such a gift they each have, such a gift they share with us.

  • Had an urge to hear it and hear I am. Isn't youtube great?!

  • After all these years, CSNY still sound for what it is : A walk in a flowergarden during Springtime!

  • i love this song...i was listening to it with my dad and loved it!(:

  • I'm in such a better place when I listen to these guys. Thanks for postin'!

  • why is this video not available

  • I can't believe how much better this version of Marrakesh express is when compared to the original studio version.

  • crosby is just an unbelievable group

  • they are just the coolest people in the world

  • Black bird flyy, black bird flyyyyyyy niceeeee

  • always pleased to listen to this song for I'm from Marrakesh =)

  • I have visited Marrakesh in 1985, nice memories! Remarkable city and market (Jemae el Fna) Every time i hear this song it reminds me of 1985.

  • expres of marakesh, crosby, still, nash saludos en youtube...la honorable sociedad

  • They could sing 3 part harmonies to a freight train and it would have been beautiful. What a moment in time.

  • God i love the harmonys...these guys had it together. And Stills was Mr. Many-hands

  • Of course, a song is empty without bass, thats why mines turned up to 9:P

  • fuck this song kicks ass... nice bass too

  • yes it does hendrix, & nice that u noticed that bass

  • Now if only Stephen Stills wasn`t a cokehead.

  • Yeah, like you can't be a cokehead and a genius. Besides, it was Nash that sang this song.

  • I love it so much!!! They are awesome! I actually like this version of Blackbird better than the original, they just have that beautiful voices! Thank god that they started singing together :)

  • I believe Leland Sklaar was their bassist at the time.

  • hey man on marrakesh express I know Nash is playing guitar and then crosby and stills are doing there own little thing with marraccas and stuff but whos playing the bass?

  • Sure Greg Reeves.

  • Lucky were the people at Woodstock during this performance.

  • Best version of Blackbird EVER!!!

  • Thank God these 3 guys found each other.

Their voices blend like no other trio. When they sing together, it's like there's a 4th voice there, and I don't mean Neil Young, who never really added all that much.

The one who is hardest to hear is Crosby. He blends so well and so selflessly. I think I heard him on Blackbird standing out more clearly than on any other song, singing the bass. Nash had the highest voice and sang tenor, while Stills usually sang lead.

They have yet to be equaled.

  • I agree with you and say Stephen was the undisputed leader Graham liked to think he was the inovator but he wasnt Stephen was the heart of this group David the rebel bad boy and Graham the glue that put it all together there was only heart and soul and it was Stephen Stills I was there and I know we connected that night in ways I will never discribe

  • blackbird was beautiful

  • See the version of Blackbird by

    hayhay83

    A girl from Australia.

  • this is why these guys are still around!!! true masters. This is what talent looks like, all you rappers out there.

  • I plowed lots of bitches to both these tunes.

  • pcotcb = punk can only talk, can't ball

  • NEARLY GREATEST BLACK BIRD

  • great.. brill.excellent.....

  • I was there that morning and cried when they left I fell deeply in love with Stephen and thought the others were okay but when you love the best no one else will do and no one will ever sing like he does he sings like the angel I think he is

  • That guy sounds exactly like Paul Simon. I thought this was a Simon and Garfunkel song for forever.

  • Wow, Nash brings in some very '60s British boyband high notes in this version.

  • They CSN rock!

    I'm completely hooked on them.

  • You have no idea lucia be 5 feet from them sitting there looking up into the face of a no kidding on earth angel I was stunned and in rapt awe when I fell in love with my "older man" I was 12 at the time What A experience

  • I find it really hard to listen to the Beatles version now after hearing this..miss those sublime harmonies!

  • same here. Although the Beatles were great....CSNY was greatly underestimated...The Byrds, The Hollies, The Buffalo Springfield- All were overlooked. I really love CSN's cover of Blackbird miles and miles more than The Beatles.

  • cool tune

  • thanks, toni, for sharing with me! and Serpico104, for posting.

  • Love these songs! <3

  • Harmony at it's purest. Absolute genius. Gives me goosebumps.

  • Where can I download this? Its too perfect--my favourite band playing the first song I learned on guitar and the video? Loaded on my birthday! Ahh!

  • mitici e'immortali.....

  • Soo much bether then the studio version ^^

  • "Marrakesh Express' just transports me back to my teens. Beautiful, skilful harmonies. Stephen Stills's little neo-classical guitar break during "Blackbird" (at 3:45)has always fascinated me. It's absolute perfection personified! Stills has to be one of the greatest guitarists ever. Even Jimi Hendrix rated him above himself. I've just worked out that guitar break after 30 yrs thanks to scrutinising this clip from 'Serpico104'. Music doesn't come any better than this.

  • You're right except I wouldn't say that Stills, one of the greatest guitarists, as you said, was better than Hendrix. Jimi was way too humble. Jimi was as good as you get. Too much rating in music in my opinion. Stills altered his own style often to sound more like Jimi. They were good friends and had great mutual respect. Peace

  • MilesTrane21; I saw Hendrix around 4 times live when i lived in London during 1967-1968. He was beyond belief. But alot of the time Jimi used the same Blues licks and sometimes he was so stoned he blew it.( Saw this happen!) Stills' rooted in folk music and intricate tunings etc..almost like Michael Hedges at times. Being a Blues fanatic myself Jimi is my hero but Stephen's technique is fear inspiring. But it's all down to personal liking.

  • You saw him 4 times? That's awesome. I love them both but because I'm really into mind-blowing, hard, demanding music Hendrix is my favorite guitarist. I just don't like the "Hendrix pwns Stills" kind of arguments and ranking the musicians. They had different styles and I'm not going to say one was better than the other. I want to listen to one or the other depending on my mood. I envy you, I'm too young to have Hendrix.

  • MilesTrane21; Yeah, the downside to all this is i'm now 58 yrs old & your 17! I really liked the band "LOVE" as well (Arthur Lees band) You're absolutely right. It's all down to different styles. There was so much musical talent back in the 60s and the political message that CSNY/Hendrix/Baez/Guthrie etc gave out was unmatched. Today most music artists don't have alot to say. Commercial profit comes first. I'm so glad Crosby, Stills,N&Y are still around to tell the real story.

  • Ey, don`t mess with Jimi. Would you play better guitar if you would be stoned ? I guess not!

  • MilesTrane21; I have to give you credit. For a young person you have GREAT taste. I only wish more youngsters today were listening to GOOD music like Stephen Stills rather than rap & Britney Spears! But then it was the same when i was 17 and most kids were into glam rock.(holy crap!_

  • 39 years ago. Great performance.

  • What a geat song!!

  • You know, I was watching this and just noticed that at the start of the song(until 00:24)Graham's mouth IS NOT MOVING! WHAT is that all about?! Did they just have a bit of trouble in the editing after all these years this has sat on the shelf(matching visual to audio, like in an interview here on Youtube of Stephen and Neil)????

  • Jackass91091,

I agree 100%! I wonder why this didn't make it to the film's initial release?

  • I don't remember this from the tape. Is this included on a NEW release of the Woodstock concert?

  • yea, this is what I remeber. Lovely, before the drugs took thier toll. To bad, pity that so many didn't survive it. I thank god I did.

  • Yes! Hippie days.

  • Magnifique...

  • This was good times for them...before they all became coke heads. lol

  • marrakech express....magic

  • HARMONIOUSLY ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.

  • i cry hearing this . knowing i will never seriously know this beautiful talent again

  • Best harmonies ever!!

  • holy crap, we live in a shitty time!

  • right on

  • lol we do

  • I can't think of a better acoustic guitar rock video than this, discounting Beatles. CSN, in their prime, at Woodstock! Nice Woodstock poncho, Stephen; Ebay and history beckon for a listing.

  • People, do you realize that they are playing Blackbird like it's already a classic, while it was just half a year after it has been released? I miss those kind of songs nowadays..

  • Am sitting tonight on the roof terrace of the El Mansour riad (small inn) in Marrakesh as I type this.

So happy this was posted, I searched for it on a whim. Goes perfect with a glass of local Moroccan red wine from Meknes, BTW (no smoke rings for authenticity's sake -- sorry :) )

  • I wish i was there with you to engage in some good quality chat. Good post, thanks.

  • You're on for a future visit :-)

Thanks for the reply... sadly, am headed back "stateside" day after tomorrow -- just in time to catch the season's first snow and sleet storm :-(

  • Yeah man! Remember myself in my previous live getting stoned in Marrakesh in the summer of 1969 singing blackbird with all my friends. And took a beautiful Morroccan lady with me on my trip hitch-hiking home..

  • Loving this !! :)

  • Cheers so much for posting this, love C<S<N also C<S<N<Y,also love the Springfield anybody have a video of smile on your brother to post.Love hippies whatever that means, its not a real term and never was but these people were creative and for their time groundbreaking. It was so controversial that when it was played on american tv at the time they usually made it into a comedy sketch so as to not upset the more straitlaced viewers.

    Think positive those who criticise.

    richard

  • Richardd2063,

By "Smile On Your Brother" I take it you mean the song "Get Together," by Jessie Colin Young and the Youngbloods.

  • All i've got to say is even if you don't like "hippies", you have to respect the fact that they're sick musicians..i don't like metal music but some of their music is pretty technical..im not going to dog them for playing it..i'll leave the negative comments for paris hilton and others who make money out of music and waste our time...and one more thing...if youre so against hippies..why the hell would you click on a Crosby Stills and Nash link. Way to know what you want ha

  • Thamks so much for posting!

  • Lets see what greene64's children have to say about his music someday. I certain that with his expert guidance that should he produce any offspring at all they will be every bit as stupid as he is.

  • I'm not a fan of hippies, but seriously. You just made yourself out to be a total dweeb.

  • Have fun in hell, you right-wing extremists asshole!

  • "hippie" is just a stereotype for people who dont conform to society. dont be so judgemental.

  • what were so wrong about the hippies all they wanted was peace just because they did stuff they shouldnt have like free sex and drugs had great ideas and thought we should live in a world of peace not war now whats so wrong about that huh it sounds like u want there to war

  • yep, you're a hippy. you missed your calling by 40 yrs.

  • There will never be another sound in harmony like these three have. Bless your harmony and writing!

  • marakesh express has always been my favorit CSN song. thanx for the memories!!

  • Loved CS&N since they were Buffalo Springfeild and the Byrds. Can't believe i don't remember this rendition of "Blackbird'. Just confirms the T-shirt prophet: "If you remember the 60's you weren't there". Thanks for a memory..........where's that roach babe?

  • blackbird :D

  • wow, I've never heard CSN do Blackbird before! how cool is that?! That was excellent. one of my favorite bands! I love Stephen Stills!

  • I'm still smoking a lot of dope to this song :)

  • I smoked alot of dope to this song and it was amazing

  • Well, old dummie Nash really SCREWED UP, didn't he?! These guys were are STILL ARE the A NUMBER 1, PINNACLE, TOP OF THE LINE, MOST ACCOMPLISHED, ALL-TIME TOTALLY BEST HARMONIOUS AMERICAN GROUP OF ALL TIME. STUNNING, BRILLIANT, TEAR-JERKING HARMONIES! Thanks so much 4 posting! Gotta love the SOUND!

  • did you no this was going to be a hollies song but they turned it down one of reason nash left them

  • This song fills me with sweet meloncoly-reminds me of my parents, riding in the car with the top down and a hippy babysitter I had. :)

  • * * * * *

  • I heard that George Harrison and Paul Simon covered this song in 1974, but changed it to "The Bangladesh Express."

  • I still listen to the Beatles white album 39 years after it came out, how come when I hear so called "rock music " now i cant even listen to it for 3 min, let alone years

where have all the good times gone?

  • andyst6 said: "where have all the good times gone?"

We used them all up. There's none left for today's youth. That's why they have to settle for what they have.

  • The amount of people disillusioned with the "quality" of current mainstream music is astonishing. I'm with you, I can't stand it either.

  • I haven't heard many good versions of "Blackbird"- but this one is wonderfullll.

  • My All Time Fav. Marakesh Express

  • Stills' smile after his first "into the light of the dark night" says it all!

  • this version is pretty damn good.

  • you were only waiting fot this moment to be free, to arise...

  • the had such a good harmony, and when they had neil young it was a mini four part chorus, always so catchy

  • This is used 4 the Christian Dior Catwalk Coutre Show 2007-8. I also heard it today on BBC radio, is it due for a comeback??? I like the studio LP version.

  • Wrong, it was for the Dior Cruise show

  • how did u get this video they are one of my favortes

  • Bether the The Beatles Version

  • what happend to yankee radio? isn't this lovely why not play this live version after the original then repeat?! sooooo sweet to hear this.

  • My God, could those boys sing!

  • IFUL

What heavenly harmony! In college we would listen to their albums over and over. They just put you in mellow places. I too wish this music would come back.

  • Paul McCartney: what a gift to the world...

  • thanks heaps once again, Serpico.

pure cult, best CS&N post ever...imho.

  • Blackbird starting at about 2:20 epitomizes to me the purity and beauty of the original CSN collaboration. The three of them are still in awe of the sound they make together. This is a song not written by one of them (McCartney) and so it is a performance of pure art of guitar and vocals. I don't think it was ver recorded. Florking GREAT!

  • this is better than the studio version..

  • Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a song (from the 80's, I think...not really sure) about Marrakesh..."Come to Marrakesh, come to Marrakesh"...blablaba

If anyone knows the song, or found it somewhere,(eg: google) post the artist's name and the title of the song.

    Many thanks.

PS: no, not the one by Icognito, Crosby Stills Nash Young, or ATB.

  • I love this version. It's the best. Better than the studio version by bunches.

  • To be honest, I dont like the studio version of Marakesh Express. But I love this version : D

  • i've been saving all my money just to take you there.....love it... thanks for posting.. great video.

  • I love this it is simple and hipnotic. I wish this kind of music would come back.

  • Graham Nash singer was in uk band the Hollies. These guys went wild on the "shag express"!!

  • beatles, uh McCartney I mean

  • is it csny or beatles that have made blackbird?

  • Fantastic - even after all these years

  • too cool

  • Love it! I get a great feeling when I'm listning to CSN(&Y)

  • So much talent in one group, they are so amazing.

  • what a great song! I haven't heard this one for a while.

  • You should be kicked of the Planet for Saying that word, and while Crosby,Stills, nash, and,Young are playing,It makes U really look like a jerk, the Whole point of the Soung is to BRING US TOGETHER,treat everyone as equals,Albert King would probably kick your rear end for even saying it. Respect all as equals. Long Live the Blues.

P.S The express means HASHCOOSHCOOSH ride.

  • These guys know how to sing

  • BTY, what do you think the Marakesh Express is referring to?

  • Pre drugs my ss, they are wasted in this video. They were so stoned at Woodstock that when they did Suite:Judy Blue Eyes they repeated a verse twice and left one out! Check out their eyes!

  • I agree. Fortunately, there are exceptions. Go check out Nellie McKay. Pay careful attention to Columbia Is Bleeding, Toto Dies, The Work Song, GLADD, GES, I Will Be There, Swept Away, Won't U Please B Nice, I Wanna Get Married(poking fun at the institution of marriage) If you appreciate CSNY as I do, You'll probably love Nelly also. One more thing ... she's as good on the piano as Stills or Clapton are on the guitar ... No, I'm not exaggerating!

  • When I hear this kind of great music it makes me wonder why music is so pathetic today? What do we have? Nigger rappers, weak-voiced little girl singers and generally American Idol crap. Back in the day, no one would have referred to CSN (and sometimes Y) as merely a boy band.

  • I agree. Fortunately, there are exceptions. Go check out Nellie McKay. • Nigger rappers...you can make your point without being racist, you dumb fuck.

  • Black rappers glorifying the nigger word, rape, violence, greed, cop-killing, women-hating brutality, drug addiction - oh no, they're not niggers at all! I stand corrected. I suggest that you listen to Chris Rock comedy riff on this problem. It's hilarious. His says that blacks are more racist than whites, because blacks hate niggers, too! And yes, my friend, there is a huge chasm between a black person and a nigger.

  • Chris Rock and this has nothin to do with each other rockyracune.

  • Couldn't have put it better myself.

  • Your comment lost any validity when you brought your ignorant racist opinions in. Your language is vile.

  • ooh yes Graham Nash does look like the late Rod Hull (poor man)

  • Graham Nash looks frighteningly like Rod Hull - is Emu hidden behind Stephen Still's sidies? (sorry anyone outside the UK - Rod Hull was a children's entertainer. Google him, you'll see what I mean.)

  • If ya don't know what i mean about pre-drugs, look up carry on at wembley in '74. you can't even compare the performances.

  • hahaha, the more weed they smoked and the more LSD they took the better. Once Crosby started blowing coke and bringing guns to airports they lost it.
