  • may this music never die

  • great song

  • im 10, my daddy sang this to me.... i love this song, and american pie.

  • I'm so thankful I was raised on this music. thanks mom and dad, you rock!!

    and so does dr. hook:)

  • Yeah my parents raised me on this turn table classics! Great memories!

  • This is to anya933: It's obvious that 'The Queen' is a tramp, "bar-fly", worn-out whore [your choice] and the man who..."brought her to this world" is either a 'pimp' or a 'bar-fly' himself. Pity. Cool song though.

  • @eamd11 all was not well in the world at the time of this. you were just to high to care about what was going on.

  • todays music is just horrendous in comparison.

  • !@fritzzwicky4 in comparison? its horrendous by its self

    !

  • This is not on any Dr hook 'greatest' album - therefore i'm not going to buy any of them cos i want this song and it just makes me happy!

  • Dr. Hook......the best....brings back the great memories of the days when all was well with the world

  • soo sad

  • this was another gem from the pen of Shel :Silverstien....who by the way wrote some very good childrens books. ^/^

  • shes actualy an old hooker

  • Very poignant song.

  • I think the message behind the words is that several of the men who were at the bar quite fancied the woman, and had spotted that she was tipsy, so therefore, would be an easy lay. However, one man, a decent man saw the woman as a human being, a person, someone's daughter, sister, mother maybe. He got to know the person hiding behind the false front, courted her in the old-fashioned way, they married and lived a good life. Just sayin'.

  • ♥Dr. Hook...nuff said

  • Wow! It's been a long time since I heard this stuff. I forgot what music that "Just makes you feel good" sounds like. : )

  • Dr.Hook IS music and always will be music<3

  • if dr. hook knew views meant shit they'd of sang baby baby 30 years ago

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs by Dr Hook durings the 1970's, songs that I grew up with 35+ years ago when I was a teenager.

  • Dr hook was always my no. 1 in the 1970 and 80 I love there stile always

  • Dr Hook is amazing. They had the thickest, fattest sound around with the horns blending in. Love it. No music these days compares.

These guys could make you laugh and cry. Should any member of Dr Hook happen to read this. Thank you for all the memories! Love your music!!!

  • Oh my but this takes me way way back

  • I miss my simple country girl.... She is a queen now..

  • @SwiftStormyNight She's not a prostitute, she's a bar-fly you know those woman who aren't married and stay till closing time and go with some guy or not. A prostitute could afford better clothes and men would n't fight over a prostitute cause they'd know they could have her for the right cash. No the song is about a disillusioned bar-fly ..and the poor woman is probably real.

  • @daylanrayne

I agree, kinda sad. Has to be many of these Silver Dollar Queens everywhere. Well written.

  • @daylanrayne I think also that this song speaks of her loneliness. I know she is real. That is why this song shits so close to home.

  • Respond to this video... She is so real. This song is haunting. To me it speaks volumes of loneliness.

  • @Piggysmaatgmail ...I always seen this as a lonely Vietnam widow fighting thru alcohol & what ever companionship she could find to make the pain go away . During those days there was a lot of pain .

  • classic

  • Is there a live video performance of this anywhere on here

  • lol same thing happened to me....

  • I'M THE MAN WHO MADE A QUEEN OF A SIMPLE COUNTRY GIRL !!!! and been my queen for 20 years LOVE YOU WIFE...

  • I haven't heard this song since I was less than 10 years old,(25+ years) always loved it but now that I understand the lyrics it's a different meaning from what I pictured back then. ....Peace, Love, and Empathy to all.

  • this is awsome music to listen to while you drink......makes you nice and relaxed....i love dr. hook

  • i have this cd. im 14, good to know youngins keep this music going. DR.HOOK IS AMAZING.

  • @mswinky101 yeah i own it too, im 17. it was givin to me by my grandpa.

  • love these guys 20 yrs plus

  • If you are going to listen to this song - this pretty much is the one. Dennis' voice has just the right amount of whiskey, desperate emotion and gravel. Emmy Lou, a national treasure as she truly is, is just too sweet to sing this song.

  • both my ex wifes are "queens" as well as several ex girl friends. I've been a bad, bad boy for a long time.

  • very ,very , very good memories GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  • This is my birth mothers song. Rings so true.

  • my favorite song at 8 years old. My dad had the record on the turntable

  • @mrwarmth21 I bet you miss them *weg*

  • @AnnaLeeFuckYerFacee Are you grateful to your mom for raising you to pick a user name and talk like you are a 25 dollar a night prostitute?

  • Absolutely great song, the ONLY version worth listening to. Saw tem at Lowestoft in Suffolk, one of the best damn concets I have been to ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think i have most of there cd's and have stole my mothers records... ohh just love Dr Hook!!!! nothing really around these days that really compares.. in my opinion :)

  • @79Bek Been listening to Dr. Hook since 1972 (Grade 8, seen them 7 times 1981 to 2006 ) Have 5 Vynil albums, 2 cd's and even still have an 8 trac copy. Only concert band I've ever seen more than twice.

  • @Marvin5049 DITTO!!! Started listening in 1971 and saw them first in '75 in Shreveport - AMAZING! Glad to know there are so many people who still love them like I do!

  • @Marvin5049

Ditto! Started listening in '71 and first saw them in '75 in Shreveport --- AMAZING!

  • my parents raised me right with there music not some of this crap that is out now adays give me a thumbs up if you agree.

  • Just listen to this and try not to smile!

  • @MrAdjer

    It's impossible!

  • My parents both loved Dr. Hook. Sexy Eyes was their song. I grew up on this music!

  • I played and listen to Dr. HOOK alot when I was a teenager awesome group and even saw them once in La. were I grew up Very Memeorable times!!!!

  • back when lyrics actually told a story....used to sing this as a kid playing my Mom's 45's...thank you for the memories.....peace

  • I seen them in Naples Fl.now get this at a place called the Silver Dollar. They were so messed up they could not play for more than half an hour. But I wasnt too upset because I got to see DR.Hook I will allways remember that. They were and in my mind still are Great

  • My opinion, Dennis Locorrrier's unique voice and talent is second to none, and that includes Elvis and Sinatra. Please spend some time listening to him on YouTube, and you will see what I am saying. I'm not talking about charisma or his stage presence or name recognition. But his beautiful voice and delivery. Dennis never misses a word or a note. Perfection.

  • Kinda' poetic don't you think.

  • this is4 the shot gun AV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best song, but the best video is Baby make them Blues jeans talk and she does a damn nice job ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Sweet jeans dont know who she is but would like 2 get in em

  • great group hands down. well really one of the best. enjoyed most every song they put out, I remember when The Midnight Special wouldn't let them come on the show any more, Who Remembers this?

  • This and Sylvia's Mother are my two favorites from them

  • Shel wrote my life in his music. Dr. Hook still sings to me today. Fun to sad crazy to dead serious this band is my hearts billboard and my lifetime favorite.

  • One of my favorites of all time!

  • Great version!

  • i love dr hook i was just a kid n the 70s but i love that music dr hook is the best

  • Dennis Locorriere is the lead vocalist. His voice is the most distinctive, such as the lead on Sylvia's Mother.

  • finally gonna see them :)

  • Tranny cowboy anthem in Texas eh eh ; )

  • youtub is sellin out

although ive liked youtube for many years iv come to the conclusion that you tube is sellin out to the man and i dont have time for sellouts and will therefor close my account with you tube and by the way vevo sucks

  • Whoa. The lyrics are really a downer. I'd completely forgotten about this song I heard several times in 1973, but never much paid attention to it. God, it sucks to be grown up.

  • What a gorgeous, gorgeous song! The music, the lyrics, Ray Sawyer's incredible voice......all brilliant. My favorite Dr. Hook song. With a decent buzz I can listen to this happily 20 or 30 times in a row. It just makes me freakin' happy.

  • @Nemesis7293

Actually, the lead in this song, as in the majority of their tunes is sung by Dennis Locorriere.

  • @Poetbiker You're quite right. Thanks for the correction. Don't know what I was thinking. Must have had a more than decent buzz, lol.

  • AWESOME

  • dr hook rule

  • Best version of this by anyone.Have loved Dr Hook since the early 70s. Wish you would repost Cookie and Lila. The best Dr Hook song of bunch of great music

  • @Remus364 Right on Remus, I would really love to hear Cookie and Lila again

  • I'I'm so speechless after hearing this...I've heard, and danced to this so many times, but never have I heard it so good! God Bless All THE QUEENS OF THE SILVER DOLLAR....even those of us who laid it down...Thank you for sharing this.

  • great song, fantastic lyrics.

  • Is the HOOK gonna be touring anytime soon???

  • shels the man. rest in peace.

  • Great version of a powerful song

  • i beg to differ on shel not writing alot of thier songs. Bill Francis was my mentor when i was in high school. I learned so much about music from him. The most important being you cant trust your friends when it comes to money....

  • Best version of this song EVER !!!!

  • @muserwood by far, by far

  • my father in law ALWAYS requests this song whenever we are noodling around on You Tube.

  • This could have been written about my mother god rest her soul.

  • MY DAD OWNS THAT ALBUM!!!

  • Shel Silverstein wrote most of the songs Dr Hook sang.

  • Shel silverstein only wrote for this album because most of the songs were for a movie that dr. hook did the music for, shel did not write most of there songs

  • Shel Silverstein wrote this. Lmao. I think he wrote it about my mom. Those lyrics are right on target.
