@pharmerzz .. Hey! that is just great , i am jealous!.. although the check-ride sounds a bit stressful everything else about training for a pilot's license is fantastic. So, you are half way through some of the best times of your flying-life. More to come for sure, but for now, ENJOY every minute of it!!
(.. waiting to see some footage of your flights) ; )
@MacBooker4444 .. well, i can tell you that, i was -not- flying it when that happened and also that it was a bad landing and that, apart from the nose gear, the rest of the frame took the hit rather well - nothing but the pride of the student pilot was hurt : ) .. i am extremely sad for the plane though. we now have an Evektor SportStar (unfortunately imo) 8'(
@capiluis Rotax carburetors mix fuel and air automatically, so no, there is no manual mixture lever.. some think that the resulting mixture is too rich, but as far i can tell it works fine. i have flown this plane from 1600 ft (ground level at KSDL) up to 10,000 ft (the limit for LSAs) and it worked fine - did not overheat on the way up and did not cool too much on the glide down. so, i personally like it, it is one less thing to worry about : )
I have been flying a NC rotor and wing in Louisburg, NC. If I'm not mistaken, you can rent a remos gx for around $100 an hour.(I could be wrong.....I know it is $95 an hour for the solo part of lessons). As far as headsets the Lightspeed Zulu headsets are super nice but I think I will stick with the DC's .... Besides I could use the extra $500 for flying the remos:). Thanks again. Maybe I will see you in the sky one day.
@magnum7mm .. i see, do you also skydive there? looks like a great place - so green !!! $95 per hour "wet" sounds about right. P.S. totally agree about the headset, that's another 5 hours of flying!
Great video. The remos flies nicely in my opinion. Thats what Im using to get sport license. How do you like that headset? Is that the 13.4 ounce model? Thanks for the awesome video and some inspiration.
@magnum7mm Thanks : ) I really like how easy it is to fly and land the Remos GX (or the G3). it makes training very enjoyable!
As for the headset, this is the David Clark H10-13.4 Headset. I also have the David Clark H20-10 for my passenger. I use the H10-13.4 because it is a bit smaller with a NRR of 23 decibels (one of the highest). But i like the H20-10 for my passenger because it is much easier to adjust the size and also because it is stereo. I had a Lightspeed before which i returned.
@magnum7mm Where are you training? do they rent LSAs there? how much does it cost to rent the Remos? What headsets do you use?
P.S. i do recommend the David Clark, unless you can afford a LightSPEED Zulu or a Bose X .. but really i don't think that you need noise cancelling in these planes.
@sowmach -Thanks- this was my first video with a licence!
I am glad i took the camera along that day and made this video.. it also reminds me of those early (5:30am) mornings at the airport and the feeling of that very first flight!
Nothing like the smell of avgas in the morning, right? : ))
Your remos gx Videos inspired me to get my PPL. I am well over half way to a check ride. Great Videos!!!
