They're called line locks on full size drag cars, don't know about RC's, but they apply brake pressure to just the fron wheels to lock in on the (starting) line, hence the name line locks, so that the driver can smoke the rear tires, warming them up in preparation for the drag run. I think wikipedia has an article on them if you want more info.

So, if an R/C car can simply spin the tires under its own weight, even without smoke, that's good enough for a burnout? Well, I have a toy grade AND hobby grade R/C car, and the toy-grade can also spin it's rear tires under its own weight (even though it won't exceed 7 mph and is really lightweight and has plasticky rubber tires (slick). Not trying to talk shit, but I thought this burnout looked weak. However, I did like the fact that he had a brake, and his tires were awesome.

Well, that makes sense, but most R/C cars can spin their tires under their own weight when restrained, even toy ones. Thats why I personally didn't find the actual burning out part that impressive.

Even with brakes, an rc should be able to spin the tires. Why I didn't find it that impressive was because I was expecting tire smoke. Then it shows me that the car can generate enough friction between the tires and pavement to cause the tires to heat up and burn. In this case, the car was either too light, not powerful enough, or both.

yes you need to run it in first, itll say on the fuel tank when yu get it out of the box also itll say in the manual
