Kid I don't know how much you know about marathoning, but 10k fame doesn't automatically translate to marathon fame. He hadn't proved himself in the event yet...hence, not a favorite regardless of his 10k time. The favorites had all proven themself in the event...so yea, I could careless about his 27:30

Nice. That's actually a really good time. I bet you anything you'll get under 18 easily. My first 5k was 19:45 but I ran a bad race. I got around low 5 for my first split because I had no idea how to run the race xP

And our varsity consist of only 3 people this year, which includes me, so we don't expect to be that great.

when i was a freshman i ran 18:07 and now I can run in the low 16s. If you work harder than i did( don't take long breaks in the winter and summer ) then you can be really good by the time you are a senior.

The Kenians never won an olympic marathon... The East Africans are too light for the olympic marathon. They are not competitive, in the athens marathon (2004) Paul Tergat was the favorite and he did not have a good race. The ''black runners'' are excellent for flat marathons whith pacesetters because of their weight. But for Olympic Marathons with hills and a difficult weather, the ''white runners'' are better because they are heavier and more resistant.
