so like, right now i have a high body fat %, if i start training for long distance running (getting in hours of cardio), would that burn as much fat as some 20 minute high intensity workout?
actually Ryan can beat Sammy but it's an issue of fight, determination and grit. Is he willing to pay the price? Ryan has the talent and speed to beat Sammy. It's not a question of talent, it's a question of confidence and believing. Ryan has the form and technique but he has to turn "potential" into "winning." Sammy is a reckless runner and breaks your spirit. He is a fighter and races to destroy the opponent. Can Ryan get that killer instinct?
Okay, Hall whipped out a 4:32 mile . . . for mile EIGHTEEN. Someone please explain that to me, because I can't get over it. 4:32?! AFTER running 17 hard miles? With 8 more to go after that?
Admit it, folks. Ryan Hall could outrun Achilles.
@drutimann Nope. Achilles. Homer can't stop calling him "swift-footed," and for good reason: Achilles literally runs Hector down around the walls of Troy. Then kills him. The moral of the story: practice your 800m repeats, kids.
Of course, Hermes was fast too. But he was a god, so it doesn't count.
Kid I don't know how much you know about marathoning, but 10k fame doesn't automatically translate to marathon fame. He hadn't proved himself in the event yet...hence, not a favorite regardless of his 10k time. The favorites had all proven themself in the event...so yea, I could careless about his 27:30
Why is it that everytime I try to watch a running video I have to listen to these little bastards saying how good they WILL be? And everyone has an exuse why they didn't run faster. Am I the only one willing to admit that I am just avg. at best?
In my opinion it's fun to compare times, especially when someone's times are faster than mine. It fuels me to train harder. And where did the running excuses come from? I don't find that relating to the topic at hand at all @_@
well that was in the 5k and 10k. this is the marathon, its a whole different race. ritz did beat hall in the world cross country championships following the olympic trials
I'm currently about 4 months away from being 16 and my best 5k was around 17:49, but that time was from 9 months ago so I'm not really sure what my time is going to be this year :3
thats good im 14 freshmen and ran a 18:26 in my first 5k 1 month ago but wolnt be on varsity our team is 5th in the state and all the varsity runs under 17:00
Nice. That's actually a really good time. I bet you anything you'll get under 18 easily. My first 5k was 19:45 but I ran a bad race. I got around low 5 for my first split because I had no idea how to run the race xP
And our varsity consist of only 3 people this year, which includes me, so we don't expect to be that great.
when i was a freshman i ran 18:07 and now I can run in the low 16s. If you work harder than i did( don't take long breaks in the winter and summer ) then you can be really good by the time you are a senior.
That's just ridiculous how they can hold that kind of pace for 26 miles. They've got to be running 5 minute miles or just under. I couldn't even do that in a 5k.
And one last thing: in the elite field of the Boston Marathon there are more black runners than white runners. The Olympic Marathon is an event where runners from many different continents participate. And what happened there? There are more black elite runners than white elite runners, and that is why the Boston Marathon is what it is.

Damn what are you talking about??! Boston marathon is one hilly marathon! Since 1988, all the winners are from east Africa(Ethiopia and Kenya to be precise) expect 2 of them. Lee Bong Ju in 2001 from South Korea and Gelindo Bordin in 1990 from Italy! And I don't need to tell u who has the course record...
as much as I love ryan hall and ritz, I have to think they are going to get wrecked in the olympics by the kenyans or ethiopians, they run like 2:05's and shit.
I can't find this version of the song anywhere which is the same as the music videos on youtube when I found this on limewire I got the song that changes some lyrics and some parts sounds absolutely terrible compared to this such as the drumming in the start there is like a cowbell or something at one point; it's shit compared to this. Where can I download this(the music video) version of the song?
if you are talking about "...And the battle begun" just go to their myspace page, its there down on the right. or just search for "And the battle begun" on here

The Kenians never won an olympic marathon... The East Africans are too light for the olympic marathon. They are not competitive, in the athens marathon (2004) Paul Tergat was the favorite and he did not have a good race. The ''black runners'' are excellent for flat marathons whith pacesetters because of their weight. But for Olympic Marathons with hills and a difficult weather, the ''white runners'' are better because they are heavier and more resistant.
Chachope 4 years ago
Male Marathon, 25 Olympic Marathons: 20 for white guys, and 5 for black guys
Female Marathon, 6 Olympic Marathons: 5 for white runners, 1 for black runners.
In flat marathons like Berlin, Dubai, etc. the black runners are better. World records, Hail Gebreselassie, Paul Tergat, etc.
But davisCkevin, my friend, the Olympic Marathon is another story
Chachope 4 years ago
Why you got to make it a racial issue, damn asshole! Who fuckin cares if blacks are better at this or if they have a cock 10 inches long. The race is not racial, is fuckin running stupid dork, you run or you suck (cock), you decide!
