Am I missing something here? Why not simply create a new ad in the adgroup as usual and set to optimise and see which performs best, why use the experiment tool?

Hi Orlando, the folks at Google are super nice and smart, but they do not have many folks giving them feedback. This is a good example of that. This video doesn't mention the most important thing about using ACE to test ads - that in order to set an ad as experiment or control, you have to already have gone into campaign settings to set up an experiment. Then you will see those silly little icons that look like (green cherries on the stem??).

These videos should be standalone, but they aren't.
