I agree...Derek this, Derek that...Yes...he is absolutely the best choreogrpher, etc., but, come on...isn't that the point? DEREK IS the consummate professional...making his partner look the very best she can be...But, we know how Derek dances and, what we look for is how his partner dances. Why is it that Ricki Lake "fans" all seem to centering on Derek? He is NOT the centerpoint...Ricki is!
@WoodIsle99 I agree with you on Derek's Not the centerpoint..But, it's not just Ricki's fans focusing on Derek, it's his "fans" & judges. They don't care who his dancing with as long as they see him dance. I've had enough of them talking him up against all other pros on this show. Anyway, My Favorite Pro Choreographers on dwts are Dmitry, Chelsie & Louie. Karina, Kym I can deal with and...well, sometimes Maks.
Derek is REALLY GOOD. I love him because he is a really good dancer, and Ricki is great too. But, on the other hand, Karina and JRMartinez are doing a pretty damn good job, so I hope that they stay more time in the show.

Ricki killed her dance. J.R. did okay but it's no where near as good as Ricki. You all give J.R. credit cuz of what he went through and we all do but people overrate him way too much. @BooBerry2480 Um, no, Ricki didn't kill her dance. Derek kept her in hold for most of the paso doble, which is quite unusual. In the really good paso dobles in past years on the show (which are actually quite numerous), the dancers are apart for much of the dance. However, Derek can't afford to let Ricki dance/stand on her own for too long of a time because she's not that great of a dancer when she's by herself. She only looks good when Derek is steering her along the dance floor.
@irisandlilies Why is being in hold bad? It looked beautiful. Just because it was unusual, doesn't make it bad. The reason why he did that (Just a theory) is because she was injured. You're saying that she doesn't look good dancing by herself. Well, there's a reason why they have partners, and that's the reason. I never heard anyone say that Ricki can't dance alone until this week. Ricki can dance, now stop being such a 'hater' about it.
@SasuSakuGleeFan123 The paso doble is supposed to be powerful and dramatic, representing the "dance" between the bullfighter and the bull in the ring. Dancing in hold so much as Derek and Ricki did lessens the intensity of the dance. Just take a look at some of the best paso dobles performed by female celebs on DWTS - Nicole Scherzinger w/ Derek, Mel B w/ Maksim, Shawn Johnson w/ Mark Ballas and Kristi Yamaguchi w/ Mark Ballas. Ricki's dance does not have the same impact.
@SasuSakuGleeFan123 Having watched Derek with his various celeb partners every season since he has been on DWTS, I have never seen him dance so much in hold. Nor have I seen him do such elaborate dance moves while dancing around his partner on the floor. Those are two indications that Ricki's solo dancing is not up to par. By doing the former, he can control Ricki's movements. By doing the latter, he draws viewers' attention away from Ricki's dancing.
I will revise my opinion about Ricki's dancing if and when I ever see her dancing side by side with Derek and mirroring his moves for a significant period of time during a dance. However, I don't hold out much hope of that ever happening.
@Davette7ify1 If they did that longer, it would have been too long, and would have been out of hold earlier, and I personally don't like that side by side stuff. Ballroom dance is with PARTNERS, and you're complaining that she needs to be out of hold. If it's beautiful (Which it is.) don't mess with it. Why is everyone saying that she should be out of hold!? @SasuSakuGleeFan123 Not all ballroom dances are performed in hold. See, e.g., samba, jive, cha cha, Viennese waltz, paso doble. Moreover, it takes a really good dancer to make side-by-side dancing work because it's obvious when you're out of sync with your partner and your footwork can't be hidden from view by your partner's legs and feet. BTW, the judges noted that Ricki messed up her side-by-side dancing w/ Derek when she danced the Roger Rabbit in the foxtrot.

@SasuSakuGleeFan123 If you read my posts carefully, I disagreed with your opinion that Ricki and Derek did a fantastic (i.e. "killed") paso doble on the ground that they spent too much time in hold, which lessens the intensity and drama of that particular dance. I then opined that the reason they spent so much time in hold is because Ricki is not particularly good when she dances separately from Derek, as evidenced by, among other things, her performance of the Roger Rabbit.

Never been a fan of Ricki Lake...doesn't appear as if she and Derek really have caught on like he and Jennifer Grey...she seems offensive in some reapects...not classy at all.Derek is the dance, not Ricki.

Never been a fan of Ricki Lake...doesn't appear as if she and Derek really have caught on like he and Jennifer Grey...she seems offensive in some reapects...not classy at all.Derek is the dance, not Ricki.

@Davette7ify1 I agree a for the first 4 or 5 weeks Ricki looked nice and was friendly with J.R. and I still think she might be but I think Ricki is getting too cocky and rude!

@beeutiffle Yeah, out of all the halloween songs, this has got to be one of the worse ones. It sounds silly and goofy. If JR had Ricki's song, i guarantee they would own it!

@sablo75 I doubt he's growing it for fashion - most men hate shaving all the time, so don't and then shave for occasions -it's more comfortable like that.
