Actually most Americans let alone latino American's favor a reduction in mass immigration. Amensty is hugely unpopular with Americans on both sides of the aisle. Actually most Americans let alone latino American's favor a reduction in mass immigration. Amensty is hugely unpopular with Americans on both sides of the aisle. How did John McCain do (who supported amensty)? How did he do with hispanics? He got 30 percent of their vote. If the GOP nominates another pro-amensty candiate they will loose tons more overall voters than the few hispanic voters they would win. Tons of indepdents and democrats would vote for the GOP on immigration alone.

The fact he doesn't agree with an English speaking requirement for immigration indicates to me that he is after hispanic votes. He speaks better than Jr., but still shameful in his evasion to the question at 1:54.

Jeb Bush never said that he disagreed with making learning English a requirement for CITIZENSHIP. There's a difference if you're just here as a guest worker and not here permanently.
He answered the the question at 1:54. He basically says there is no logical reason to feel alienated. It's based on pure emotion and something you need to get over and grow up. Nothing stays the same.

LocoYoFla - you need to watch the video, again. Jeb, in fact, does state that he believes,'...it is wrong...,' at 3:00, referring to the 'notion' at 2:50 that a person needs to know how to speak English, know the history of the U.S.A., etc., before coming to the U.S.A., all under an inference of the pursuit of citizenship. Anyone with any maturity and common sense is aware of the divisiveness caused by language barriers. Your arrogance and smugness in your final comment indicates your position.

I just watched it again.. He says they shouldn't be expected to know the language and culture IMMEDIATELY upon entering the United States. Just as if you or I moved to another country, it would take time to adjust to the new culture and language. It's hard to believe now, but many believed in the 19th century that German immigrants would never assimilate. There were many newspapers in German at the time, and most lived in enclaves that made it easy not to learn English. See how that turned ot
