@themusicdr Paul got a bit touchy about Boris Johnson saying HIGNFY was scripted, so Im guessing he doesnt want to be accused of reading anything. He did wear glasses when he hosted HIGNFY so he could read the autocue.

@Speakersoxx well clearly some parts are scripted eg the chairmans script and they must know befrehand some of the stories that will come up in the show, however im certain the comedy and ad-libbing that ian and paul do are genuine and spontaneous

@themusicdr, the producers interview the people before hand and then the crafts are made and the research (such as finding tv clips and pictures), but i doubt there are cue cards and lines written for the guests. There is probably some film editing though so the people seem more coherent than they are.

@bellybasher I didn't intend to start an argument, I just wanted to let you know that calling someone "an ugly mare" with a "fucking horrible accent" does not reflect well on you. It makes you look unpleasant. I doubt given the opportunity that she would actually get rid of people, but given a choice between "when the kettle takes ages to boil" and "short people", it's safe to assume that she went with the choices that would be most amusing.

@bellybasher In a lot of interviews she's quite self-effacing, I think the Room 101 format tends to show most people in an unfavourable light really. I admit that her choices are a bit more... unpleasant than some guests, but most of the time she doesn't come across quite so haughty as she does here. I just look for the giggles. When she giggles, she attitude she shows seems to change a bit, it makes it more obvious she's only joking around. Perhaps she's just too good at being straight faced?
