well firstly, the braking shifted force on the front suspension hence the car itself was 'tilting forward'. So when there was impact, the upper nose took the most of the impact.

I don't think the car at the very end of the ad is the same car in the accident - how can the chrome piece in front be unscratched? How can there be no seriou sdents? If the car is designed to be safe to the driver and passenger, then it would absorb more of the blow and thus crumple some. I emailed VW and they claim it is the same car. I don't think so. Thoughts?

that chrome part might have hit the part of the pick-up where the body of the pick-up curves inward, maybe when the Jetta is stopping, the force makes the front of the car tilt down and avoid damage. With the right circumstances, the chrome piece could've been undamaged, but the VW logo and the front grille look like its in perfect condition, those i cannot explain

The point of ABS is not to make panic stops quiet to avoid annoying other drivers, its to keep brake pressure at the point of impending lockup, or in other words, right before the stop spinning. Besides, a tire can make those kinds of noises without actually locking up completely.

I fall for this commercial every time! I am so glad that VW is pushing how safe they are... I was in a bad frontal accident thanks to a stupid kid taht couldnt drive, and my jetta saved my life! Its hard to watch this commercial because I remember my airbags deploying etc... but I am glad this cars are so safe, worth every penny. Lets just say, I went out and bought another VW.
