  • Amazing man! This is the difference between simply being able to use the software, and telling stories with it!

    Congrats!

(off to NCCA in Sept :D)

  • GO TEDDY! dude that was awesome! Awesome!!! how the heck do you DO that kinda stuff? That was one heck of a video that you did man! Truly cinematic! Great work Dude !!! I'm quite interested in doing computer animation at BU. From the quality of this video I can see they do a good job there! I heard this video won you a place with DreamWorks. Nice work!

thats all comments ppl said, lolol.

  • great

  • You must be working for Pixar now? :D

  • Awsome!!!

how the heck do you DO that kinda stuff?

  • dude thats awesome!

  • GO TEDDY!

  • that was good.

but you should have had the kid beat the crap out of his mom with his "helmet."

  • What program do u use? I've been looking for a software that can do that, but had no luck! TELL ME, pleaze!!! >.< (luved it though)

  • It was made using (then) Alias Maya and Pixar's RenderMan

  • Thanks! ^.^

  • Hi, just wondering, usually in 3d animation that ppl do, are the animated figures and their actions done frame-by-frame or, the software has some functions to "animate" them easily?

  • Yo which program do you use to make this cool vid? please tell me :)

  • I'm sorry, uhm.... was there supposed to be any sort of a plot to this?

  • that looks like pixar and dreamworks material right there

  • omg, Dreamworks, just saw! :-P awsome, congrats man you deserve it!

  • Thanks!

    : )

  • great stuff, but I'm sure you look back at this and see all the flaws. 2001 was a long time ago, and you were brilliant then, I'd love to see what you're capable of now! You working for any studios I'd recognize? Thanks for sharing the vid my friend!

  • amazing!

  • lame

  • he is to old to have a pot on his head-other than that it was cute

  • The kid appears too old to be playing with toys, unless that's the joke.

  • Why make the boy American, aren't you English?

  • huh?

  • i large amount of talents and hours invested in it.

  • Very smooth animations...I felt that the message was a bit vague though.

  • I totally agree, and it makes me cringe every time I watch it... Hindsight is a cruel teacher! :D

  • Very cool!

  • great animation

  • nice!

  • you got it wrong

  • The story is that even though this boy has a sophisticated mind, you know, playing with guns and aliens and stuff, he still plays with his first toy--the bear.

  • i really like this video man.

  • great work, the movements looked human :)

  • that was amazing. you could make the toon shader a little toonier, though.

  • Excellent work. This piece has a really good look, and the story has great potential for expansion into a longer piece.

  • that was good, cutxycutxy comment is so right on

  • i dotn get it

  • that must have taken ages cus making someone even say hello takes about 3 hours

  • you are good at drawing

  • Its kinda like the Iron Giant. Awesome!

  • That was a really cute video. I liked it alot. :)

  • you should make a long version you rock....

  • I agree . . the animation is awesome! Great job! =)

  • Great video! It remembers me when I was a child, everything was so real in my fantasy world! Me and my cousin we've been detectives for years!lol

  • out of curiosity, after conception, how long does it actually take to program a piece like that?

  • Very good animation!

  • Beautiful annimation! Make More!!!

  • Very good, both technically and storywise. Reminds me of my own childhood. ^^ But I would have never fought against one of my plushies, they are my friends. *ggg*

  • I don't think some people get what it takes to do a computer animation. Its not like drawing out on paper, there are thousands and thousands of layers of code, and camera angles; let's not forget the fact each frame has to be drawn by hand, plotted, lighting and then sound to work with the animation. There is tons of talant, my hat's off the the team of hard working individuals involved with this project. PIXAR QUALITY...

  • My daughter loves this sort film. She is two

    I think its brilliant

  • I slightly agree with j012cl4n. Although the animation was great and talented, the story was pointless. Still, I'd give it 4 stars

  • nawwwwwhwhwhhwkjsdhf;kz

  • i love it! ^^

  • What? I'm sorry, junk. I know people are going to hate me now. Aw well. It was good animation, but the voice acting sucked, and there was nothing to it. Though a lot of people liked it, I didn't. And I am going to be strongly hated now. Not everyone has to like it.

  • that is a very polished animation. Very nice work.

  • that was cool, but made me depressed, for some reason...all well

  • that teddy bear looks cute!

  • i donn get it...

  • lol nice one

  • nice job - you really made the kid organic

  • Nice work!!

  • why the hell did you take garfields teddy bear

  • nice man

    nice w0rk!

  • this should def have more views then this

  • cool.

  • thats was a great animation keep up the work

  • cool...

  • awesome anitmatin again wow cute teddy

  • yeah!! it was awwesome!!!

  • I really do love the way you animated it.

  • really good

  • That sucked balls.

  • awesome short! ^_^

  • wow great job! reminds me of when i was a kid...

  • I would love to make one myself, but have no idea what hardware or software to use.

  • i agree, i liked it!

  • whoooooo gr8!

  • wow astonished or however u spell it

  • Well that was a nice job.. I could see u used the cell shaded graphics as well, which made the movie even cooler.. but the little kid and his weapon kinda reminded me of "The Iron Geant" (Hoguard) especially when his mom (I suppose) called him. Way to go!

  • Wow that was really good.

    Great job, i loved it.

  • LOVE THE TEDDY!! omg omg omg love love love

  • I think it's totally amazing, i really wish i could do something like that.

  • story sucked. Couldn't care less about the kid or his game. Animation is flawless, however. Good for you. Voices are a joke, however. Casting counts!!

  • Casting is a luxury not often afforded to students at university, I'm afraid. The voice of the little boy really needed a professional child actor, and I didn't know any, so I ended up doing it myself.

  • how did you do it?

    you should make a squel

  • Excellent! Very well done!

  • Good job, I like it alot.

    Keith Knutsson

  • that was mint, wish i could do things like this :-[

  • oh its great! i love it

  • wait this came second this was dam awweesmoooomeeeeeeee u shudda came first for sure right on dude

  • Thanks for the comments, all.

Yes, it was made using Maya (and RenderMan).

  • brilliant!!!

  • very good animation, and cute teddy. ^_^

  • Nice work. :]

  • nice.... i know how hard it is to animate like that...

  • wow nicely done like it cool

  • excelent. good job

  • Nice style.

A little hint. Try to speed up the animation.. seems like everything is going slow motion.

  • no it aint in slow motion, mabe ur eyes r in slow motion!

  • Amazing short film! What amazes me more was your involvement with Shrek 2 & 3 as well as Madagascar. Do you get to meet the voices of the films?

  • WAY cute! XD

  • rock on

  • ^^ nicely done, you've captured both the kids feelings and imagionation very well and the 3D work was excellent.

  • Damn good work mate... We are watchin the new pixar star :)

  • hey this is COOL! i'm a graphic design student, 3rd year, but haven't started animating yet, but will be taking a time based media course next semester, my professor is actually gonna be muqeem khan, google him, the guy rocks! hope to post my student film here too ;)

    all the best.

  • nice

  • Awww... the bear reminds me of 'Pooky' Garfields teddy bear!!! :)

  • nicely done, can u tell me wether u made it with maya?

  • I Know its CGI but it looks almost like Cell. Amazing Job, I can't wait for more!

  • yup! sure did :)

  • how did you get the visual style? (what lighting or cgi math did you use on the textures and skins

  • well done! :D so did you use maya for this???

  • Nice nice nice nice:D

  • Aww it's cute. Nice animation, liked it... makes me wish I could animate... maybe I should try. But that was good.

  • hiya dude, i really love your work! i anim8 like u but have no desent software what do u use????

if u cud email me back i would b so happy. i am 13 by the way and my name is charlie. cheers

  • The program is like, alot of money, and its Maya :P

It also takes alot of training on how to work it!

Lets have kevanshorey do all the talking shall we?

  • This was my student film, made in my third year at university.

  • This is a great piece. the animation is top notch. How long have you been doing animation?

  • that was really good! and it was well sweet too!

  • Yup. It was made at Bournemouth. A loooong time ago, now. Yikes!

  • You get to make this sort of thing at Bournemouth University? I must say this is very well done and it must have taken a lot of skill. Congrats.

  • Thanks! :)

  • Nice vid, quality animation, it should of got 1st prize in my opinion!
