  • RIP Ms. Abbey Lincoln... :(

  • I love you Abby. Thank you.

  • One more example of how European cultural critics celebrated the art of African Americans - the only great uniquely American cultural contribution to the world - when racist and culturally insecure American critics were genuflecting before anything European! Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln were among the greatest American musical artist of the the twentieth century, and indefatigble cultural warriors to boot. Now that they have danced and joined the ancestors they belong to the ages. RIP Abbey.

  • @TheViewFromSugarHill that statement is passively racist and very rude to white american culture and you sir are a pompous Ass!

  • love this song, max looks good in the gretsch satin swirl

  • a classy artiste---jazz singer of coure--also an actress in flicks with poitier---and another wonderful movie with ivan dixon named nothing but a man---because of prevalent racism in the fifties in hollywood, she along with dorothy dandridge were incredibly beautiful and would have been the marilyn monroes of that era and were actually considered in some corners as exactly that

  • Loving this man!!

  • thank u dilberg

  • DAMN this woman is spectacular

  • magnificent song-Max roach:gretsch golden sparkle drum set

  • The host is Joachim Ernst Berendt a very famous music-journalist in Germany.

  • What language is the host speaking? German?

  • And he's using a word and phrasing you couldn't use today. A little problematic this commentary.
