Ok... this is a kind of a "total war"-like RTS-game with RPG-elements? KAY!! Iam still waiting for a RPG-Game, like Skyrim, with tactical and strategical elements of a "Total-War" Game!!! I want to stand in the middle of a Battlefield of thousands of combatants and wanna taste the dirt and blood, and feel the camera-shaking hits of sword, lances and impacts of cannon-balls!! And then, me doing "FUS RO DAH!!"
@Chareidos thousands, yeah not gonna happen for likely several decades, if your talkin about 200 men or so in opposing armies, then Mount and Blade series is for you, would be awesome to have a game like that but we will be waiting a long time for it :L
lets make it simple for tards... Creative assembly makes new style of game known as the Total War series, over 10 years ago, same thing over and over.... Small team in Paradox entertainment obviously get insperation from Total war series, Spark their own Ideas, they build it around this existing game concept, improve it drastically... And so this new game was born, a fantasy, strategy, RPG... not a rip-off, not a copy, just people using their heads to make their imaginations take form.
@masonpatrickwebb lol seems very lousy to me ... it's slow, units look kinda crappy and stiff, animations look like shit, landscape is ok but I Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 look better.
And I wonder if it has the same system as TW series, soldiers getting tired, formations, troops routing and getting scared, flanking etc. etc.
Maybe if it has all that it can be pretty fun otherwise, it looks like a pretty crappy game so far.
@3choBlaster Or maybe it's just the way this dude plays the game ... I mean really who lets cav fight for so long? Let them charge and if it doesn't break the units pull back or go trough them then charge again. Or use them to flank, route, finish off units fighting your ground troops. Don't shoot arrows while your units are being surrounded by the enemy your shooting at lol. And don't make your whole army attack one unit lol, always try to be on the defending side otherwise FLANK
@3choBlaster Thats because they show slow units.... and from experience, since I play all games you have mentioned, Shogun 2, Napoleon, King Arthur 1 and 2.... King arthur series has faster battles and campaign map interactions, the units you see in the trailer are mainly IN BATTLE, meaning not moving, any way, this game gives us what in all honest Creative assembly failed to give in Napoleon, and thats a really nice RPG element to the game.
@masonpatrickwebb Yeah I agree on the Napoleon part ... I like Empire a lot though, which I hadn't expected. I thought it would suck, but I loved it even thought it was better then ME TW2. Shogun 2 is just simply awesome, in ME TW2 I always found archers to be useless. In Shogun, archers, cavalry, etc. All do exactly what they are supposed to do. And battles with fortifications are so much better.
Do soldiers get tired etc like in TW games, because I might try it then.
@masonpatrickwebb inspiration is never a bad thing plus all games do this , look at every FPS game they all have everything DOOM 1 has , :) user interface with health and bullets , gun on screen and enemies to point and shoot at . You should search on youtube Warlock Master of the Arcane it looks VERY similar to CIV5 but looks FUN unique and guess what its not like civ5 almost at all , many games take already proven concepts and build upon them as you said , but morons shout CLONE , RIp_OFF etc
@jilaslamord so what's the problem? if you want to trace the originality, one can always argue there was age of empire first... more ever, king arthur got the RPG element of its own... play the game which you like, there is no need to make propaganda of a certain game.
the battle animations are pretty stiff. Medeival 2 has better tactical battles hands down when it comes to stuff like AI, pathing, and unit animations. aside from that Medeival 2 has nothing on the amount of complexity and depth this game has, both on the strategic map and on the tactical map.
@reredrumuoy I thought this was more fun. The quests the morality wheel, the rpg elements and magic i think raises the game above M2TW even if slightly. And don't forget this was made by a small company with not a lot of resources or manpower, and this was their first real game of this sort(and their second game in all). Compared to Creatve Assembly who has millions of dollars, tons of people at their disposal, and 10 years of experience, I think they did fucking awesomely.
The city map looks really nice!

They only thing these guys did better than Total War are the city battle maps.

@masonpatrickwebb it was developed by Neocore, Paradox only published it.
And yes, the game is brilliant. Very original and fun concept.

@iranus100 i have i like the rpg elements but when the combat is up close its a little robotic
i bought it on steam for 3 dollars a couple weeks ago and its not as fun as m2tw in my opinion
