  • did that hurt?

  • @Trinbin21 The raccoon is suckling, not biting. It didn't hurt at all.

  • Mary my pup keeps finding baby yellow-belly turtles and chewing on them :/ but there are no lakes around for a few miles, and she cant get out of the backyard. Where do you think shes getting these?

  • @FuzzyForever1 I have no idea. We don't have those turtles where I live. We generally have aquatic turtles but around ponds and lakes. Sorry I can't help you.

  • @FuzzyForever1 Secret ninja turtle base somewhere in your house.

  • @FuzzyForever1 Maybe its gopher turtles. They don't live in water at all.

  • I didn't know raccoons can purr, hehe.

  • nom nom nmom nom nom tasty sweeter you have here :3

  • @GilaTomster I'm glad you show such concern for animals. Braking to avoid hitting them is good, but I would suggest that you not swerve too much to avoid them. For one, you never know which way some animals are going to dart when something is coming at them. Two, so many people have been injured, killed, or have injured others swerving to avoid an animal and running off the road. I'm not saying you shouldn't dodge, or drive around, but be careful to avoid other cars and maintain stability.

  • Be a good squirrel? It's a raccoon. LOL.

  • scare it even more and then hit it

  • Mary, my dog always brings baby rabbits onto our porch! what should i do with them this summer?

  • @aswann0831 If they are injured, contact a local wildlife rehabilitator. It'd be great to reunite healthy babies with mom but if your dog can still get to them, not a good idea.

  • raccoon...?

  • no, they don't get dependent. i have had coons as babies and once they grow up, they don't really like humans anymore.

  • awww poor thing. :(

  • you're a good mama even if you can't keep your babies

  • i didnt know they purred like that! adorable!

  • SO cuuute :D poor little coon D: Wont coming to her when she gets scare reinforce her dependency on humans? or will keeping her with the current adult female coon help get her more "feral"?

  • @BlackGnosis When they are this young, they need some comforting when they are very upset. If they don't receive it, they will become mentally spun. They've done research on this with rhesus monkeys. That's why she also has a little stuffed animal in her cage. My hope is that she will bond with the adult female and I can put them together. If I had another baby her age, I'd have them together and they'd be fine. I just don't have one this age.

  • @BlackGnosis good question. Raccoons are HIGHLY emotional and intelligent and need nurturing more than some species as neonates. They never forget their early handlers in situations like being rehabilitated, but before they are a year old they will develop plenty of caution for strangers if they are not over socialized.

Adorable baby, Mary. Hope she finds a buddy soon :)

  • Ah, the poor baby. I would of held her until she felt better and went to sleep. I love what you do Mary, bless you.

  • @BlackGnosis She updated the description after I asked the question. Thanks for being a douche though, much appreciated.

  • You have a gentle heart and it's inspiring to see how you take care of animals in need.

  • You're such a good person. If there was a reward for being an oustanding wildlife rehabilitator, you deserve it many years in a row :D

  • awe poor thing.. glad you were there to make him feel better!!!

  • awww your such a saint :)

  • Wow, I've known my local coons for a long time, but I never realized that raccoons purr like that! I wonder what makes her trust you when I'm sure it's instinctual to not.

  • you are such a wonderful person

  • aww

  • awww what's wrong with tha poor little raccoon?

  • @poopybooyah It was scared because a hawk landed on top of its cage.
