Friendly suggestion: if you liked Death Note and Elfen Lied, then you'll probably be a huge fan of When They Cry (better known as Higurashi) and Monster. These two animes are DA SHIT.

Elfen Lied and Clannad are up there for me too but the rest is not on the same level. In terms of light hearted and Shoujo titles, you gotta go with Natsume Yuujinchou, Nijuu Mennsou no Musume, Kimi ni Todoke and Cross Game. For action/Shonnen...definitely Hajime No Ippo and Claymore. For psychological/thriller....Kara No Kyoukai.

i think its hilarious with the progression of anime that their mouths have gotten smaller but their eyes and boobs tripled in size. Trigun, FLCL, Akira, and death note are the best. i feel like a fag when i watch naruto and inuyasha not the biggest fan of the younger animes.
