@camiheartzacnskating cos u don't reli need to cross for single jumps, u only need to pull in for axel/doubles and above to get the rotation. even on axel if u get enough height, u don't reli need to pull in that tight - more height, slower rotation=easier to land :)
@deeprose4 you might be thinking of the FLIP jump. Lutz usually takes off from a long back outside edge just like the video demonstrates or a short mohawk turn to often help disguise the inability to hold that back outside edge properly. With the new judging system, that maneuver might get an "edge call".
@RizReyes ahhh, thanks. I always get jumps confused that start with a pick into the ice. Doesn't matter much, because currently I can barely do toe loop!
...isn't she supposed to cross her legs like in an axel? That's the way everyone in my skating club was taught. It just looks awkward otherwise. .___.
i would have liked to see more height, and there was a change of edge going into that right before the take off. that would probably be a deduction... =/ Also, you would not be able to get a proper double lutz off of that take off = /
i don't think this is "Advanced" considering it is one of the 6 basic jumps you learn (Waltz, Salchow, Toeloop, Loop, Flip, Lutz). If it was a Double Lutz, I would consider it "Advanced" hahah
i landed my lutz the first try a long time ago, when i was about 12 or 13. all i know is it isnt that hard once you can do the half lutz like a 6th sense.
I can do one, it's just that I pick the ice and I stay there for like too long. It's almost like I put my toepick on the ice, and then gather strangth for the jump. So obviously with some practice i can get it right. :) Working on my axel as first-priority
I don't understand the difference between the different toe jumps. They all look the same. What's the difference between the outside edge and inside? What should I be looking for that I'm missing?
To answer your question about the edges. The outside edges is the right side of your right foot and the left side of your left food. They're facing outside of your body. The inside edges are the left side of your left foot and the right side of your left food and are facing inside... I hope that makes sense... O_o
the toe jumps do not look different but they are very different. the main and only differences are the timing, the edge and the entry. the timing for a lutz is look look up reach back jump where as the timing for the flip is present push turn pick jump. also the edges are incredibly different it is much harder to rotate on a lutz because you take off the opposite way of the jump which makes it a lot harder because of the twist. whereas in a flip you rotate the same way. i hope this helps.
even though they said it was backward crossovers but it is actually a cutback if you see clearly. crossovers are when you LIFT you feet up to cross over but cutbacks are similar just that you dont LIFT your foot up to cross. hope that helps. (:
Yup, crossovers. My daughter started out doing her crossovers by lifting her foot and crossing over. However, once she became better at doing crossovers, her coach taught her how to SLIDE her foot over instead of lifting it. From what I understand, that is an advanced back crossover.
She's 10 and not yet pre-pre. :-) She's learning pre-pre MIF and working on her single jumps. She has nearly all of them and is working on a flip and then a Lutz. :-) So she's not quite to your level yet! LOL
any triple lutz tips??

Actually this is a pretty nice single lutz. Better instruction info on this video compared to some of the others.

Felin12, No, you cannot enter it just like a Waltz Jump.
A Lutz jump is from a Left Backwards Outside Edge!! A Waltz jump is from a Left FORWARD Outside Edge!!!!
argh..
