xtreme wrestling long long long before ECW not that theres anything wrong with ECW but they werent the originators they just made hardcore wrestling alot more hardcore and famous
Great match. Dusty & Tully always had good matches together. This was a really innovative & brutal match that Rhodesd came up with here. In many ways Dusty paved the way for ECW.
I actually thought that the old NWA was more dynamic than the old WWF. each territory had its own flavor, You were able to have more stars on top because of the territory system, and kayfabe made the magazines more interesting. Who the hell buys those magazines anymore?
yesh this is really funny revisionist histroy the company that was WCW nearly went bankrupt before Turner bought it and he along with Bischoff made into a money maker. Vinces version of history is hilarious because they make it sound like WCW was this huge profitable company before Bischoff and company took over and sunk too bad history says otherwise and they were the ones who actually revolutionized wrestling with the NWO and so forth Vince is the one who imitated them and ECW.
If only NWA/WCW stayed with there grungy down southern hardcore wrestling AND not try to be a pale inmatator of WWF. We would still be watching Nitro.
This made ECW to bad WCW was not interested in what made them popular.
well, you gotta remember, WCW started as a show for the NWA. so the early WCW was just a showcase of the NWA. but in its later years, WCW did copy WWF
There was barbed wire matches in the old Mid-south wrestling. I remember one where The Fantastics took on the Sheepherders in a barbed wire cage match. The whole cage was made of wood and barbed wire! Even the ref ended up bleeding. This was in 1986 that it happend.
This was under the NWA banner before WCW exsisted, NWA didn't have a blood ban and Dusty in particular was a willing bleeder. So much for HBK being the "inventor" of the ladder match this was years before the ladders were brought into WWF and even longer before ECW started using barbed wire.
What is the year and date of this match? Was this a PPV match?

Too bad the World TV belt was not on the line. I loved seeing Dusty beat the holy hell out of Blanchard.

I think that if the wwe could bring back these kind of matches it would be awsome instead of this bull crap they have on now.

It's cool to see Barry Windham, one of my all time fav wrestlers, as a second at ringside for Dusty during this match.
Only about a year later Barrry would turn on Dusty & join Tully in the 4 Horsemen.

It's too bad Ted Turner didn't keep Jim Crockett on to run his wrestling company. Things might be different today.

I agree. Dusty & NWA were smart and presented an alternative to the WWF's cartoon style, WCW just tried to copy it.

That match used to be up here, but I don't think it is anymore. A brutal match, even today.
