After listening to this, I realized that there was something reminiscent about this sound in regards to balance, so I looked at the instrumentation and realized that they're playing on euphoniums in this clip :-) Is this really from 2001? Didn't they make the switch to marching baritones as soon as Dr. Foster retired? Can anyone shed some insight...?
@Tigerwarhawk LOL. Yes, this is really 2001. When I joined the band in 2002, they were using both euphoniums and marching baritones. I think in either 2004 or 2005, they made the total switch to only marching baritones. However, I wish they would go back to just euphoniums.
@hhorns2002 yea you can tell the difference...especially with that four seasons of lonliness in 97 vs 2007...the melodic line just aint the same. But this song was so amazing
@hhorns2002..... The transition from euphoniums to marching baritones didn't begin until 1998 (like you said, when Doc Foster retired). We only started marching a few. The full transition didn't occur until years later. Personally, I miss the sound of the euphoniums, but I guess everything evolves at some point for a purpose....
@igtoxghost The upright or concert baritones are the best in my opinion, too. The marching btones/euphs have grown on me, though. And some sound better than others. Some have a tight, narrow sound. But some like the Kanstuls with the bigger bore and bell have a much fuller sound.
You betta add Open up my heart, All I do is think of you, and You are not alone(performed in the rain)! Fam's ballad arrangments are simply on point. Big ups to Sarge!
I'll put You are not alone at somewhere like #11. All I do is Think of You...uhhh I'm not sure...That might bump a song already listed out of my top ten (or eight or so...)
I have nothing is fall 93 and The 100 played Endless Love orignally in 86 or 87 I only know 1 person who has a tape of that year. You should add I Miss You 94 (Aaron Hall) and Spend the Night orignally played in 89 but revised in 98. That's a little history for you baby!!!
First performance. You had to be there to get the real feeling. 40 bones, 50 trumpets, 30 tubas. There's no way possible any video camera could catch all of that sound.

I vote this in the top ten concert selections from the hundred.
1. Endless Love - Fall 94
2. Four Seasons - Fall 97
3. I Have Nothing - I think Fall 92 (maybe 93).
4. Congratulations
5. Knocks Me Off My Feet - Fall 96
6. Contagious
7. I Feel Good All Over
8. Let Me Be Your Angel (Fall 76)
I can't think of 9 and 10 right now, but I'm sure this list will change depending on how I'm feeling...lol.
