What's happening in the video is Kyon and Haruhi are vandalizing east junior high during the Tanabata festival 3 years before the events of the series. Why does this matter you ask? Simple, this event takes place both chronologically series wise and time line wise right before the disappearance of Haruhi.
This event is also referenced several times in the disappearance of Haruhi and becomes extremely important to resolving the mystery behind everything.
So I understand that haruhi is breaking into the school to write that symbol....but why is this the promo for season 2? and why does it have to be like 20 minutes? I understand its trying to be epic..but isnt it being too long?

I want to buy the series in english, once it comes out, even if I have to import it (i'm autrian) If I was better at japanese yet,I could even import the originals, but my kanji-reading skills are awful and my japanese vocabulary has the size of a neddle.

Read the novels to find out, but here's a hint; if you look at her, Haruhi doesn't look like the one you know is she :). I won't spoil you, the reason is quite creative.
In the third novel, during the Star Festivel, Kyon goes three years back in time and meets Haruhi. In fact, in the first episode of the anime, when Haruhi asks Kyon if she knew him from somewhere, this was what she was talking about. Anyway, he helps Haruhi draw her nasca lines on the quad. When she asks for his name, Kyon uses the fake name 'John Smith.' Through out the rest of the series, Kyon worries that if Haruhi ever found out he was John Smith, she might do something crazy.
There are a lot of complex explanations for this, but I think there is a much, much simpler one.
While I haven't read the short novels or manga, I believe this is a scene mentioned in the anime series where she uses a line painting tool to create 'alien signs' on the school's grass.
What doesn't make sense to me though is that she did that before she met Kyon, so I'm not sure why there is a guy helping her.
This is intriguing anyway. Loved series 1, can't wait for series 2!

mikuru told kyon that there was a glitch in time and they couldnt travel any further back in time
this is when mikuru took kyon as far as she could go back but collapsed for some reason

I would tell you but its classified. lol. Theres a lot of things you can guess about who's helping Haruhi and how. The truest one will be the one most expected but sorta not. It's just like how Kyon's name isn't Kyon but they still call him that. ^-^

well this shows haruhi kion drawing somthing on the school grounds cuz remeber in the first ep kion and is friend where talking about haruhi and ho she was and what she did and he said one time she draw a hole picture on the school ground and said hat aliens had come.
