  • Bravo!

  • what the hell is a flick off lol

  • every lesson is worthwhile bravo always justin

  • Thanks a lot bro, i'm from Central America, your lessons are the best online!

  • A VERY nice little exercise for playing licks. Learn a simple lick, then try and play it backwards. I found it pretty challenging but a lot of fun.

  • "Unusual finger" Justin you're my hero.

  • i really love it keep up dude i wish i could be like ur hand hheheheheXD

  • Its great how I am discovering more and more of these licks in the David Gilmour solos I have memorised note for note. I know I shouldn't be surprised but I am.

  • @MedicoreProductions You just do a "curl" on the C note. Its like a 1/4 step bend. Definitely a blues staple. Keep your ears open and youll hear it.

  • My cat is a master of licks

  • @Merefnebef HA

  • @Merefnebef My cat is called BB King

  • i am having trouble only sounding one string when trying to do bends. any suggestions. wait i mean on the release is when the other strings sound like a flick off. thanks for all the help.

  • @CKS5000 that happened to me too, but I think you should think of when you have bent the note you should mute the strings with the right hand before/during the release of the bend

  • @MedicoreProductions because it's blues ;-)

  • @MedicoreProductions I don't think there's a half step bend to C# there.

  • I just broke my e string...

    Awesome.

  • 2nd lick - isn't it the one from Purple Haze solo?

  • @Lutherro it is, more or less. It is also similiar to the Dani California solo (which is pretty much Purple Haze^^) ;D

  • Very good, best lesson i ever saw

  • "Oh , you didn't tell me to pick up or down" hahaha

  • i like your billabong shirt

  • hey you have a ADA mp1, cool!

  • second lick is intro to black sabbath's I lol :P

  • can't you just figure it out yourself?

  • that's up to you, my man. Find the best way to use them in your context.

  • i love that sound ,wat amp settings plz reply anyone!

  • A very tasty little video, this one

  • BB King showed me that 25 years ago

  • the second lick is used in dani california by red hot chili peppers.

  • whoa he bent the sting to where the d string is at 3:47!

  • I know

its annoying cause when you go back it rings all of those strings

so you have to do it perfectly

  • you have the same back up drive as me :00

  • how did you get such a jazzy tone?

  • Clean amp settings, neck pickup.

  • Nice setup there!

  • what the diff between a flick off and a pull off?

  • no difference. just a different name. same as saying semi-tone instead of half-step.

  • nothing its the same thing

  • how come the first note of every demonstration sounded so poppy? I am very amateur in recording, and just curious. Or is it that the bridge is a bit too low on your first 2 strings? See ya!

  • the audio is clipping. hilarious how people dispproved of your comment.

  • very useful... I need to change my strings down a gauge... I think I have .13's...

  • you've probably got 12s, maybe 11s (acoustic im talkin bout)

  • probably... I found the problem though... I'm still strengthening my fingers to bending on my acoustic medium-gauge strings.

  • Justin, youre awesome! Love your "blues-serie". Really, really helpful! Ive learned A LOT today! rock on

  • way to start that 666 string of thumbs down comments xPanterAx666 haha

  • R.I.P. dimebag

  • these remind me of purple purple haze by jimi hendrix

  • Comment removed

  • erm wats the word im looking for errmm... LEGEND!

  • great stuff! thanks!!

  • you heard him fools! get crackin! haha i love this guy so much hes a great guitar teacher he makes u feel like hes actually talking to you

  • i swear one of those licks was from a hendrix song

  • Probably was mate

  • it was from hey joe..

  • always the best thank a lot justin!!!

  • thank you so much!

  • What happened to Jedi?

  • Alternative (i.e. down, up, down up...) picking is quite important. As commented below, it does allow the freedom to play faster with less tension and strain on your picking hand.

  • Thank You Justin for helping Old Man to Start Playing Blues Regard Josip

  • hey at 2:46-2:50 didn't that sound like the little legato lick in the "Walk" solo by pantera.

  • how important is alternate picking overall?

  • pretty important if you want to learn to play fast. If you can play just as quickly with all downs then all power to you.

  • well down picking can get tiring. i should probably try it. but i'm afraid i'd be doing something wrong. theres always some technique to things like rollingg and bendingg

  • Just start slow and make sure you do everything to a metronome and you'll be fine.

  • so like down pick one click and then up pick every other one?

  • Yeah that'll work to start. You can ten try two then four per beat to work on your timing. Eventually you can do triplets and then dotted eightnotes followed by a 16th note for swing style rythem.

  • lol thanks dude. i'll take it slowly

  • im now rollinggggggggg

  • great lesson. num 1

  • Thank you, kind sir.

  • Thanks Justin. Good stuff!!

  • Dats really good! do you know wher i can get good backing track?

  • You could try bluesjamtracks (dot) com if you you've got some money to burn.

I don't know where to get them for free.

  • thanks

  • Thanks for this. We really appreciate what you're doing here.

  • pure tele blues sound =]

  • hammer-ons and flick-offs haha lol

  • Your a very good instructor with great information! I'm now able to improvise using these licks in parts and whole. Thanks

  • Very good.I like that little 'trick'

position for the b5 in the 1st pos

(b str 6th fr). It has taken me many years

to 'dare' to venture out of that single

    1st position box.

  • Im not justin, but i do have an opinion =). Spider lll amps are really good and versatile amps, but i'd recommend them just for practice. If your playing live, a good tube amp would be best.

  • ooooooooooooooooooo

  • Hi Justin,

Please tell me what kind and what size of strings do you use on this telecaster ?

    Greetings.

    Hans

  • Thanks justin!

  • great job justin the great!...

  • Love the latest lessons on electric guitar! Keep them coming!

  • Awesome stuff Justin, thanks.
